TOPitBull 02-19-2006, 07:29 PM nobody is "just fat", although he probably has a little too much (don't mean to be derogatory) I'm 5'10 as well, and the proper weight someone my height should be at is a lean, muscular 170-180 lbs. let's say he's a body builder, that will take him to maybe 190-200lbs maybe a lil more. The first thing you should do is go to a boxing gym if it's affordable. Find a good trainer and you will be fine. If not, it will be difficult to train yourself. but with the internet, a heavy bag, a skipping rope, and maybe a double-end or speed bag, and some hard work (road work, weights, calisthenics, sparring etc.) you can "do it yourself", as they say. supaduck 02-21-2006, 07:23 AM Actually the proper weight for someone who is 5'10 is 160lbs. You seem ****in heavy, and should probably lose alot more than 30 lbs if you are serious about boxing. But what do i know, you might just be big boned... You don't choose what weight class you will be in/ Get into fighting shape and see where your weight ends up. Zaire 02-21-2006, 11:24 PM Wow I'm 5'10" and was 217 lbs. with 7% bodyfat when I was fighting and playing linebacker in college. I'm 234 now and don't have much fat. The height/weight charts are stupid. They don't take into account the amount of muscle someone has. I am not a bodybuilder type, but there is a lot of muscle. Think Kostya Tzsyu but bigger and broader. Southpaw Stinger 02-22-2006, 08:36 AM Tyson was short and had a lot of muscle which made him heavy. Tommy Hearns was tall but fought in welter/middle. It depends what build you have. I recomend to anyone to get into shape and see what weight you fall into. THE REAL NINJA 02-22-2006, 09:21 AM hmmm David Tua  Mike Tyson  should i go on ? James Toney all a little big all good fighters  Southpaw Stinger 02-22-2006, 10:15 AM They all have big frames. Except Toney who is a fat middle weight! DudeManGuy216 02-22-2006, 11:13 AM don't forget about butterbean ophqui 02-22-2006, 11:29 AM dont worry about ur weight. If u wanna box u wanna box, thats nothing to do with weight. Join a gym and learn, train hard THEN ur trainer will help u decide if u need to lose a few pounds. I dont understand why boxing in a particular division is paramount in ur mind, especially if u've never competed before. warriorsingh84' 02-22-2006, 11:57 AM its all about pride I guess, if you fight in the HW division you get more respect supposedly from a non boxing fan then if your a LW or FW Mike Tyson77 02-23-2006, 04:32 PM I may be 230, but my bench is MUCH higher than that. My strength is great, it's my speed that needs the most work. I guess the main problem is finding a trainer. I live close to Frankfort KY. And how does one go Pro? El Guapo 02-23-2006, 04:42 PM your too heavy, you wanna go light heavy or cruiser weight, get running man! Mike Tyson77 02-23-2006, 09:38 PM I have never boxed, but I have been in about 10 or fights...all wins. I know street fights are VERY different from boxing. The only boxing I have done was one back yard bare knuckel fight. It was against my friend, he's 6' 0'' 215 lbs. I knocked him out in under 30 seconds with a HARD right hook. I know that's nothing compared to the sweet science in the real ring with real opposition, but it's something. Well, looks like it's running/protein/learn how to box! :boxing: Anyone know of a trainer in central Kentucky? thanks for comments! PessimisticPug 02-23-2006, 09:40 PM have you ever tried golf?
