tonight i had my first amateur fight at my gym.. honestly i beat the guy all 3 rounds.. my technique was awesome.. i didnt notice it until after i saw the video my dad taped.. i was so much better than him i tagged him much more times and countered more times.. he barely countered me at all.. throughout the whole fight my trainer was telling me i had him and i knew i had him.. but they gave the decision to the kid.. i dont ****in get it?? how the **** would they give him the deicision if i outbox him all 3 ****in rounds?? at the end of the fight a lot of people asked to see the scorecards and everyone knew i won.. everyone constantly told me and i kno i won.. even one of the officials who was there who put together the fights told me i won.. i dont ****in get it can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Damn man... That's why you always need to finish your opponent. Never leave the score in the hand of the judges.. Post the fight on the net and then i would give you a honest opinion...

Don't worry about it... that fight will only make you better

There aint a fighter alive who dont think he was robbed somewhere along the line, it happens to the best of us. There aint much point in complaining about it, u wont get anywhere, just accept it and train harder for ur next one.
Just from reading ur post im assuming u tried to be a counter-puncher in this fight. A lot of the time that doesnt look good to amatuer judges who like to see people moving forward and initiating attacks, maybe thats why u didnt get the decision.

it's probably better it happened to you now, than later on in life........get used to it bro or quit.......boxing is more a business than a sport, and it seems to have become that way even at grassroots level....

Hey hey... Man, don't worry about it. If you beat the guy then you know you did. It's only amateurs, people get away with **** like this in amateurs ALL the time, it shouldn't worry you, in the pros (if you go pro) you wont experience this again I don't think.

to tell them apart im gonna call em darkie & lighty based on skin tone ok.

darkie seemed to have more power on his shots but no way did he
throw enough punches to take any of the 3 rds.

lighty 3 - 0 darkie

lighty has some skills too imo, but needs to watch out for
those wide power shots. so which one where you matey ?

That was a close fight! Could of gone either way. You had better combos but he had solid single shots. I thought it was a draw but you can't have a draw in a three rounder. Good job though. Don't give up. The whole point is to learn and gain experience. Good luck!

fighter gets knocked down in rd one...thats a 10-8 rd.
then the knocked down fighter wins the next 2 rds.

draw

THat's pretty good skills for 2 months of training!
I'm no expert, but maybe his punches are more solid, where as your ones seem to focus on speed and not power. I heard somewhere that light punches don't count for points, maybe that's why. Just my theory!

g00dz
02-23-2006, 11:01 PM
actually i been training for a year and 2 months lols.. i wish i faught like that after 2 months.. anyway light punches do count. as long as u make contact it counts as a punch. my style of fighting is to utilize the jab to keep the opponent away and when they get too close i unleash the power. I wasnt tryin to go back to my old ways of just slugging it out. Im trying to work on my boxing skills because when it comes down to it, pros dont just slug it out anymore. Its all about technique.

Kayo
02-23-2006, 11:03 PM
yeah it could of gone either way u landed more punches but he landed the more solid shots

g00dz
02-23-2006, 11:44 PM
isnt more punches what counts? since when do they judge by the power in your punches?

Stealthic
02-23-2006, 11:49 PM
Judges also look for who's landing the cleaner and more effective shots. If that were the case, Sam Solomon would be undefeated.

Anyways, you should throw an uppercut once in a while. That guy kept leaning in way too low, and you could have scored big time with that punch. I'm not criticizing you or anything, I thought you kicked that guys ass for sure. He barely even threw anything back at you.

Brelampago
02-24-2006, 12:04 AM
Amateur boxing is scored on points. A knockdown counts just as much as a jab would. Power dont matter. I seen the fight and i think u suck,u move around like u know what ur doing but a true boxer like myself can see right thrw u. Yu moved around moving ur head and all that, but didnt really know how to counter right, get ur punches off correctly,u got hit to easy w/ all that movement, proves u dont really know what ur doin. Not bad for ur first fight though, pretty good for ur first fight. The fight was close but i wouldnt call it robbery. But its only ur first fight and u got a lot of work to do, stick to it. Dont make the type of mistakes i made, gettin caught up in the street, which caused me to leave the sport for about 2 years. So the junior olympics down here are in March, i dunno bout where u from...u gonna go? They threw me right in there on my 3rd fight and i won them in NE and NY but couldnt go to Argentina for the world finals. It gives u tons of experience, u should do it,u'll learn a lot. But w/e good luck w/ ur career homey.

I saw the fight and I aint about to start counting punches, but that is how the scoring in amateur boxing is done unfortunately. But I watched the fight and it looked like in round 1 especially that you were trying to score and not box. You threw your punches so light that maybe the judges though they were punches to measure distance like reaching out instead of real punches. When you hit him it was not hard, when he hit you it was obvious you got hit, maybe you should work on following thru with your punches, you seemed to stop on impact, punch thru the guy. it definately was not a blow out by any stretch of the imagination. After a year id think id see better from a fighter. Your technique looked good with the head movement but I don't see a lot of fight in you.

g00dz
02-24-2006, 01:03 AM
wait wait wait wait.. how would the judges mistake a punch for measuring distance.. when i clearly threw it not stuck my fist out.. also after a year of training id have to say i did pretty well.. this kids been training longer ur gonna tell me he was the better fighter? and so what if his hits showed more force.. it doesnt mean nothing because i never backed down.. my hits hurt more than his, cuz if you didnt notice, everytime i hit him with power he either backed up or ducked down and grabbed hold of my dick. i never backed down and i only stopped punching when he hit me once.. i made contact in more punches than he even ****in threw

Brelampago

Damn bro....first lesson in boxing....take the good w/ the bad, learn from ur mistakes,u win some u lose some. Instead of crying, look at what u did wrong and correct it instead of sayin u did everythin right. Face the fact that u lost, get over it,take ur loss like a man and come back. After my 1st loss,i was heartbroke because i was round 40-0 and i felt i won,but i never complained or told my trainer i thought i was robbed. Then bout a year later me an that cat fought again and i won. So stop cryin, take ur loss like a man and train harder than ever. Learn from ur mistakes homey, remember that.

And for the record, ia int talkin out my ass. Check the history books homey. Bobbito Sosa, junior olympic champ, silver mittons, rocky marciano tournament champ,i've done it all and only lost twice. Look deep into amateur boxing info, I was one of the top amateurs in the US when i was 17 years old. But now im 20,and just had my first fight in bout 2 years couple of weeks ago and beat some bum. I felt aight, but the lay-off affected my career.

g00dz
02-24-2006, 01:28 AM
first of all. im nto crying or complaining or any of that.. well i am complaining a little but its not like i dont have a right to complain if i was cheated like that.. 2nd. i didnt tell my trainer i won or should have won.. hes the one who told me in all honesty that he wudnt have told me i won if he thought i lost.. plus everyone down there told me i won that.. i counted the punches i landed around 99 times give or take a punch and he landed around 67 which ill round to 70 jus cuz im a nice guy. 99:70 = me winning so whatever.. whats done is done like u said.. im not saying i did everything right. i did far from that. my shoulders were too tense and i threw my jab all wrong. i have a new trainer and hes fixing up my style so that if i meet this kid again in the ring ill smoke him.
