well, there is muhammad ali, joe frazier, and jimmy ellis holding part of the belt in 1968-1971. also there are people like mike tyson, michael spinks, trevor berbick, james "bonecrusher" smith, and tony tucker holding belts in 1984-1988, and finally people like nicolay valuev, james toney, vladimir klitchko, and lamon brewster having belts from 2000-today.

make your vote count, people. which time period was worse?

This is the worst crop of Heavyweights I can remember, so it makes me noxious when I hear people that want to add a Super Heavyweight division.

right now, theyve all been messes, but theyve had better quality fighters (except in mtj's case, but at least then they had one good hw) id rather watch all time greats struggle with eachother than guys who should not hold a belt in a reasonable period of time for HW's

Yeah Tyson ruled from 86 to early 90 and to say there were no good fighters then is an uninformed statement. There were a few undefeated up, and coming HWs in that era. You had Spinks(the Ring Mag champion and many thought he was gonna beat Tyson), Tony Tucker(undefeated titleholder), and Tyrell Biggs(undefeated Olympic fighter). Plus you throw in Tim Witherspoon, Pinklon Thomas, Buster Douglas, Larry Holmes, Tony Tubbs, etc. That is a boatload better than todays HWs.

Contrary to popular belief, that era wan't that bad, the titles just weren't unifed until Tyson came along Tyson was so dominant that he made the otehr HWs of that era look worse than they really were.

doesn't look like anybody's gonna vote for '68-'71. i guess cause you had two top 5 all-time hws at that time.

look at the FOUR (yes, four. not one, or two, or three. ****ing four) we have today: Lamon Brewster (no skill, big punch), Nicolay Valuev (freak show), Chris the duck Byrd (do i really have to say?), Hasim Rahman (one puncher wonder, joke).

how can anyone say that any other era is/was worse than this era?
