borikua 02-14-2006, 07:02 PM DUDE POSTED THIS YESTERDAY ON MAXBOXING AT 8:55 PM EASTERN TIME. THIS IS COTTO IN FT. LAUDERDALE. READ THE ARTICLE ON BOXEO MUNDIAL ONCE YOU CLICK THE LINK. THIS IS COTTO , BEAUTIFUL TECHNIQUE
I went back to the gym to take some pictures and videos of Team Cotto, this time specifically of Miguel Cotto. Good some decent pics and videos unfortunately he didn't spar that day so I just got him hittimg the pads and heavy bags. I had to leave to Ecuador on some company business so this the best I could put together in a short amount of time.
I have someone at the gym thats there everyday and hes going to take some footage for me which will hopefully include some footage of Cotto sparring. I hear friday he sparred for 12 rounds. Four with Phillips, Kid Diamond, and someone else, but I can't remember who it was.

I fail to see what's the difference between Cotto's training than any other regular boxer you can find in a good gym. There was nothing original or eye dropping about it, just like Cotto :p
eazy_mas 02-14-2006, 09:34 PM nice man!
anyone got some Cotto in action!

Blitz and Me got e-beef.
TB,No there was nothing eyepopping about it.Its just him training, not sparring, and you would have known that if you read the thread.Aight? Aight.

Don't forget also a pampered manager's boy who almost got knocked out in his last fight by not even top 5 competition.

Torres was the number 1 contender for WBO and WBC at that time. Torres is very very strong. I am pretty sure that most if not all of the fighters at 140 would be rocked by the punches that Cotto took cleanly on the chin.

Man it was crazy how many flush punches Cotto took,I thought he was gonna be out for sure.

That's his problem, he needs to stop living in his hero's shadow and use his own style instead of trying to create a Tito Trinidad meets Arturo Gatti. If Cotto would've stayed technical he would've had that fight but he went out of his way to create an image of something he's not and almost lost the fight because of it.

I agree, People discount Cotto's chin without considering the clean shots that he took from a heavy handed puncher. I was not happy with that fight bc Cotto showed that his machismo can get the best of him. He should have boxed more. When he boxed he was outclassing Torres, and when he fought it looked like a completely different fight.
Tony Blitz 02-14-2006, 09:48 PM You dare me to wipe the pizza sauce off my fingers?
No, any respectable human being would know it's proper etiquette to wipe the pizza sauce off your body after you have just finished devouring 10 pieces, I don't need to dare you to do so.
If you're feeling dangerous, let's settle this in the thunderdome, *****.

I agree that he should have continued boxing. but i disagree that he "Almost lost the fight". The knock down was not even a clean knock down, he was punched then pushed down.
Versastyle 02-14-2006, 09:50 PM i wonder was he using speed and power in that video or was he jus takin it easy

Did you not see his face? Cotto was damn out of it and confused as hell, he was cracking under pressure and it was only a matter of time before he went down.

I agree that he would have gone down eventually if he kept fighting that kind of fight, but he adjusted (finally) and outclassed the tough Torres.
ItWasWritten 02-14-2006, 09:54 PM How many fighters have you seen with Cotto's inside game and all-round boxing skills? And he's got one of the best punches in the Jr Welterweight division. If he sticks to game plan, the only guy I see beating him is Gayweather and he will have a tough fight with Hatton (pick 'em fight). Definitely world-class and an above-average chin.

I agree he's a great technical fighter, I just don't understand what all the fuss about him is really. He's just PR hype at the moment.

He is a talented technical boxer puncher with significant power and tremendous entertainment value. He is also very humble and great for the sport of boxing. :D
Oh i forgot, he is the best P4P body puncher in the sport right now.

Nicely said, I also heard Corley busted his eardrum and that **** can **** with your balance(at least that's what I’ve heard), He supposedly had surgery and is fine now...

Yeah he had a preforated ear drum(i don't think it was Corley, i think it was Torres), this will skew you equilibrium, hence causing terrible balance.
Manny_P 02-14-2006, 10:39 PM good shyt bro.
I hope Hatton fights Cotto. I truly hope it comes off after Cotto beats Brnaco and Hatton does Baldomir.
WindUpMerchant 02-14-2006, 10:54 PM Cotto has great technique. It's too bad he's a middleweight isn't it?
