View Full Version : What do you think of Maskaev?
!!Captain 01-20-2005, 12:38 PM Hey guys, what do you think of Maskaev? He used to be a big hype a while back when he knocked Rahman out of the ring. But then he lost to Johnson, Whitaker and Sanders, and has been fighting bums ever since. This Saturday he is fighting Quinn Navarre. What is your opinion about Maskaev? I think he might have a chance, especially with today's HW pack (except Klichko). Your thoughts?
jabsRstiff 01-20-2005, 12:39 PM He's shot. He can't take a good punch from a good fighter anymore.
Eyeh8you 01-20-2005, 12:58 PM I agree w/the frog
GranTorino 01-20-2005, 01:01 PM Is the fight going to be televised?
I still hold out hope for the big O. And also for Wlad. You watch, Wlad'l have a belt or two by the end of the year.

I dont now about that! I mean he lost to Brewster!!! Ouch, only person I can see him beating now is Byrd, but do you think Byrd would ever step into the ring w/him???

No, it's not televised. Wlad will have a belt as long as he gets his head on right.
GCBDamien 01-20-2005, 01:26 PM No, the fight will not be one TV. But I plan on making it out there, I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Mr. Ryan 01-20-2005, 01:40 PM Oleg Maskaev was the third best heavyweight in 1999, following the devastating KO of Hasim Rahman. He also ko'ed highly regarded heavyweight prospect Derrick Jefferson and was poised for a title shot until Kirk Johnson made the statement of a lifetime by putting Maskaev through the ropes. I thought he had some life left in him until Lance Whitaker blew him away with that one right hand. He's a good right hand puncher, but his chin is garbage. He would be a good measuring stick for Samuel Peter's next fight.
i thought he sucked a few years ago when everyone else thought he was a threat, so i definately think he sucks now...
jabsRstiff 01-20-2005, 02:04 PM Maskaev was also KO'd by Sanders (the black Sanders).

He never lost to Brewster, he lost to Kirk Johnson, Whitaker, Mccall, Tua and the scrub version of Cory Sanders, not the Corrie Sanders from South Africa. I like to compare Maskaev to Glass Joe.
jabsRstiff 01-20-2005, 02:08 PM He was talking about Wlad Klit....
Silverfox 01-20-2005, 02:20 PM Total assehole!

read the quote above my statement dumb fuker. I was talkin about Wlad and his chances of getting a belt
Clay AikSkins 01-20-2005, 04:32 PM Maskaev has some very good skills but yeah his chin is pretty weak. He may be Gerry Cooney Jr.
jpboxer3 01-20-2005, 04:49 PM European version of Jeremy Williams :D

Sister Sledge 01-20-2005, 05:59 PM Oleg is slow and has a weak chin. Nuff said.
dansweeney 01-20-2005, 06:41 PM weak chin, but he ko'd vitali in the amateurs
Eyeh8you 01-20-2005, 07:22 PM It wasn't a KO is was a KD thats it.

it was a tko, they stopped the fight man, im sure in the pros they wouldnt have stopped it though. maskaev is pretty big too, maybe he presents a style problem for vitali, we will never know though because he will lose before he could get a shot at klit
Neuraxis 01-20-2005, 07:28 PM It wasn't a KO is was a KD thats it.
Actually it wasn't even ruled as a KD.

then what is it cld when you get punched in the face and your ass hits the canvas?
Truth 01-20-2005, 07:51 PM Hes a good heavyweight but I don't think he is a threat to the champion.
Neuraxis 01-20-2005, 08:35 PM then what is it cld when you get punched in the face and your ass hits the canvas?
Well the ref didn't count it as a KD, so talk to him. I haven't seen it, so I wouldn't know.
