View Full Version : Fat Loss not Weight loss LightsOut Le 02-10-2006, 10:49 PM I need help on losing fat! not weight...in doing research i foudn out that instead of losing fat, i might jsut be losing muscle...any good advice for losing fat, and jsut fat??? SilentButViolent 02-10-2006, 11:16 PM eat a lot of healthy foods, chicken,tuna,salads.....drink A LOT of water, run and do polymetric excersies.....the protein in the chicken and tuna will keep you from losing muscle, in fact you might get more definition depending on how much polymetric you do and running will get rid of the fat, but when you run you lose a lot of water wegith that's why you have to drink plenty of water and onlt water no sodas and stuff like that......good luck LightsOut Le 02-11-2006, 12:28 AM whats all this stuff i har about carbs being bad for your tho??? i read somewhere that fats give you more energy, whereas carbs turn into fat?? should i limit eating fruits?? and should i jsut eat more meat?? flaxseed oil? and thanks for the advice. -Jay- 02-11-2006, 12:48 AM Cardio, cardio and more cardio. I know running isn't fun, but it'll pay off. Also use a heavy bag and a speed bag, they are great cardio workouts. You will lose LBs in no time. Keep away from fastfood too (Subways cool, just none of that deepfried ****.) The human body is a smart machine, it burns fat before it starts burning (or losing) muscle. If you want to just lose fat and retain muscle, you have to keep up with a regular diet (enough of the proteins and the carbs) and exercise. Nothing special, really. PunchDrunk 02-11-2006, 03:04 AM If you want to lose fat and hold on to your muscle mass, you should be doing anaerobic workouts. The higher the intensity, the better. Aerobic work will make you more efficient at burning fat, which sounds pretty good. But what that really means, is that if you burn 200 cals of fat by running 3miles, soon you'll have to run 5 miles to burn the same, and then 6 miles, and so on. You get more efficient, which means you have to do more to burn as much. Is that a smart way to do it? Well yeah, if you want to be a marathon runner. :D You can read more about it here, if you really want to know: http://www.alwyncosgrove.com/Energy-System-Training.html Fearless 02-11-2006, 03:13 AM whats all this stuff i har about carbs being bad for your tho??? i read somewhere that fats give you more energy, whereas carbs turn into fat?? should i limit eating fruits?? and should i jsut eat more meat?? flaxseed oil? and thanks for the advice. Low GI carbs are what you need... this should be the only carbs you should eat for fat loss. Don't cut out food, because they are high in dietary fibre and you need that. LightsOut Le 02-11-2006, 12:19 PM what a good example on GI carbs?? fruits and vegatbles? PunchDrunk 02-11-2006, 02:28 PM what a good example on GI carbs?? fruits and vegatbles? It's not that simple. You can't put up ONE rule like that, that will magically melt away the fat. True, low GI carbs are generally better for you in a fat loss situation, but there's a LOT more to weight loss than that. For example, low GI doesn't mean it's good for you, and high GI doesn't mean it's bad. Water melons are high. 72. Ice cream is 61. Does that mean ice cream is better for losing weight than water melon? Naah, common sense is good enough. Don't eat **** you know is bad for you, and don't let some stupid number cloud your judgement. Just watch your calorie intake, and excercise vigorously. Weights and high intensity training is the way to go. El Guapo 02-11-2006, 02:33 PM well if you loose fat then ur gonna loose some weight, but eat healthy and do weight lifting and running! yrrej 02-13-2006, 10:51 PM If you are using more calories than you are consuming, you will lose fat AND muscle. But you can minimize the muscle loss by exercising and eating plenty of protein, a multivitamin with minerals, and eating only during the daytime. Yes, carbs can be turned into fat on the human body, but it is more difficult to turn carbs to fat than simply eating fat by itself. So low fat is still the way to go. Basically by reading the labels on food products, one should only eat about 3 grams of fat per serving of anything. Some fat is necessary for health, as every cell in the human body has a membrane composed mostly of fat....Exercise and diet are the only sensible way to go. |
