View Full Version : Interview with "Cowboy" Dale Brown
Bozo_no no 02-08-2006, 10:38 PM Not sure how many of you saw it, but Cruiserweight Dale Brown beat O'Neil Bell pretty clearly lasy summer, but was robbed in one of the worst decisions of the year.
Here's an interview with Brown, who's trying to get Bell to fight him in a rematch.

Anyone else see that fight? It was pretty bad.
Castillofan 02-08-2006, 10:41 PM Hi bozo_no no,
I saw that fight and the decision was pretty bad. I think the fact that Bell went on to unify the division, especially in the style that he did it against Mormeck will help him in the eyes of the fans, especially in staying away from Brown. I did not really rate Bell as much more than a puncher but perhaps he has the time and the ability to mature into a decent fighter and bring some attention back to the cruiserweight division. Brown is a tough night's work for any cruiserweight, and if he is going to get another title shot, it has to be soon with Bell or he can hope that Bell will not be able to satisfy his IBF mandatory, enabling Brown to step in and fight for the vacant belt.
Bozo_no no 02-08-2006, 10:52 PM The thing is, Brown really used some good footwork to frustrate and box bell, it wasn't just puching.
I like Brown, beucause he's a hard working fighter.
I like Bell too, but he lost to Brown, and he should step up and give him another shot, also to redeem himself.
Castillofan 02-08-2006, 10:55 PM It just might happen, man. Unless Bell goes along fighting a procession of British cruiserweights, highly unlikely in my opinion, there is really a lack of top level opponents for him. Hopefully, Brown's mandatory spot comes around in time and he gets the shot he deserves.
What do you see happening with Mormeck in the future?
yeah I'll tell you what.
I saw the first fight....and it was a clear cut robbery, but I really don't think the second fight will resemble it the least.
I think Bell was unprepared and looked really flat. Brown like you say had the much better game plan.
I'd favor Bell in the rematch though, because I think he's motivated at his current status, and we might have a great fight on our hands if this is made.
The first one was bad. The next one might be good.
Bozo_no no 02-08-2006, 11:07 PM What do you see happening with Mormeck in the future?
Mormeck just needs to do more road work. I've read in a few spots he doesn't like running, and it showed in his last fight.
I think he'll still beat a lot of Cruiserweights out there for sure. A rematch with Bell would be another good fight, but he may need to get in line again.
He's also very bulky, and I think that tires him out quicker than most.
phallus 02-08-2006, 11:11 PM i don't know if i want to see bell - brown 2, brown is a good boxer but his one weakness is he loses to big strong guys, bell is a puncher, if he comes in well trained he's got a good chance of knocking brown out, i don't think i wanna see brown get KO'd again in another title fight.
Castillofan 02-08-2006, 11:24 PM Mormeck is definitely very heavily muscled and those late rounds must be a wear on him. The mass effect of Bell's punches cannot have helped that either. There is a serious vein of form happening in the cruiserweight division coming from England. David Haye should do something, Enzo Maccarinelli is another one from the British Isles that shows some promise.

Did you see the 1st fight?
Brown had Bell badly hurt in the 3rd, outboxed him, and should have won...
oldgringo 02-09-2006, 11:22 AM I liked what I saw of Brown in that fight (first one I've seen him in) and believed he was robbed much like all of you.
Bell however is pretty damned inconsistent and gives lackluster performances like the one against Brown, only to come back with that excellent showing against Mormeck.
I think Bell beats Brown should they fight again.
