what are some fights that stand out to you...ones you remember even if they were forgettable...or ones you remember even if things went a completely different route in the careers of the fighters....

I don't think I will ever forget how Lewis destroyed Michael Grant...again regardless of Grant's chin, Lewis was simply too much...

also was thinking about how well Byrd performed vs a good Tua...Tua came in DOWN at am impressive 223lbs...even after having been 240-250lbs in previous fights...he was ready and Byrd simply put himself on the map by taking what Tua had, making Tua miss most, and even hurting Tua to the body...that was the Byrd some of us miss...

Roy Jones Jr v.s. John Ruiz

I don't know why but that performance by Roy stays in my memory. I remember Foreman saying: "The cat's out of the bag!" (referring to Roy becoming a legitimate heavyweight)

Johnny Tapia v.s. Danny Romero

The fight was great, and I remember Tapia walking out as the dark horse. Announcers talking about his tragic life, as opposed to the golden boy romero

Mike Tyson v.s. Lou Savarese

I remember Mike hitting Savarese after he was out, and clocking the ref in the process. That was brutal.

Wladimir Klitschko v.s. Ray Mercer

I remember Mercer coming back after a layoff.....knocking opponents out left and right, and this fight was compelling because Mercer could punch. He was a combo bag though, in one of the worst heavyweight beatings of the past 15 years.

I will never forget the single greatest fight of all time won by my boy in courageous fashion:

May 7th (Derby Day), 2005

I was so drunk at the Derby I passed out in the infield, woke up an hour later, and the first thing on my mind was the fight. I didn't give a damn about the horse race that year. I stumbled all the way back to my car at least 10 miles away and had my friend take my ass HOME. I screamed my head off in the 9th and 10th rounds. I celebrated for an hour with my dad, bro, and girlfriend and was late for a huge party I'd been wanting to go to. Easily one of the top 3 most memorable days of my life, and Corrales' greatest moment as a fighter.

i'll remember adamek vs briggs. a helluva fight that was never televised.

i'll remember raheem/morales and how easily erik was defeated.

golota/brewster and how wrong my prediction was.

tarver/jones III and how cheated i felt after watching it.

vargas/tito and how great the fight was and how almost nobody talks about it.

Others:
1) Brewster coming back to stop Wlad
2) Holyfield beating Tyson in the 1st fight
3) Douglas beating Tyson (he was almost perfect all night in light of Tyson's power)
4) Tarver KOing Jones after telling EVERYBODY it was coming (nobody wanted to believe it. why? :D )

tito/joppy - tito's first fight @ 160lbs - one sided beating.

julio diaz/dominican dude - i forget his name, this was before diaz was robbed by manfredy, he went into MSG and dominated this dude, who was an undefeated prospect and totally outclassed him - the first time i ever saw a mexican move like he was listening to music in the ring.

bojado/rubio - could not believe that bojado lost this and i literally prayed that night something like "let this dude come back harder than ever and display that he have heart" ... guy gave up on the sport that could have given him everything.

bojado/leija - confirmed that God didn't answer my prayer.

cotto/jukko - have cotto open up barrera/morales II was awesome, i educated everyone in the house on the promise of the 140's and cotto looked spectacular against the veteran.

those stand out, and there are literally a hundred more ... but i say it like this ... cuz i know the guy ... i will live and die w/ every julio diaz fight so those will always be the most important.

Nelson/Fenech II - Everyone was taking shots at Nelson, saying that he had lost their first fight and that Fenech was better. Nelson was kind of written off after that Whitaker loss. Fenech was maybe the most dangerous guy in the sport at the time and looked like a wrecking ball against so many other guys he fought. Nelson showed why he was top 5 130 pounder ever, completely outclassing and outpunching the Aussie banger. I loved the announcer at the end, "he's (Fenech) completely open to the right hand!"...then boom, Nelson smokes Fenech with a right that all but ends the night for him.

Hopkins/Trinidad - I love watching this fight, Nard just completely dismantled the pride of Puerto Rico. This was about as savage a schooling as I've seen another fighter get. And don't give me any, "well Tito was a lot smaller"...PLENTY of people were picking Tito to KTFO Hopkins. Hop dominated him in every facet of the game and knocked him clean out. I remember this fight was when I REALLY began to understand the sweet science.

Toney/Jirov - I was sick, couldn't speak right, and was all laid up in bed like a bum when I watched this. Definitely the best BAD fight I've seen. Again, Toney just completely tactically dismantled Jirov...probably the most exciting 12th round I can accurately remember. I was screaming with no sound coming out, while Toney and Jirov went to war over the last 2:00 of that round.

hell of a fight...a lot of people missed it which is unfortunate.

Lampley yelling It happened, it happened! After the low blows in Golota-Bowe 2. Tito-Vargas I agree is about as dramatic of a superfight as you are going to find. Round 10 of Gatti-Ward 3 when Boardwalk Hall rises to its feet. Also, the reading of the scores for Lewis-Holyfield 1 just because of how wrong it was
