View Full Version : Is Mayweather convincing anyone with his building Judah up talk?

Do you think the casual boxing fan is interested in this fight? Mayweather looked amazing in his last big fight, destroying a fan favorite and a hero to many in Gatti. But will anyone outside of New York (Judah's town) buy this? Or do you think everyone is going to see Judah lost his LAST fight to a guy named CARLOS BALDOMIR and not think twice about ordering this bull****?

Honestly, i think this fight will be a tougher sell on the 'diehard' boxing fans than the 'casual' ones because it's the diehard fans that know Judah lost to Baldomir, not as much the casual ones. Casual fans are more likely to recognize the name Zab Judah and buy it.

Good point. Most fans had no idea Judah was fighting Baldomir last month anyway.

I'm sick of everyone talking **** about Carlos Baldomir. He stepped into the ring with that clown Judah and got the job done. Respect the man for what he did. As for Mayweather, the fight will sell because people are always interested when he steps in the ring, but I'm not buying it because Zab Judah is a joke and will lose by UD.

But a 3 in the loss column is always a tough fight to sell if you've only beat ONE big name your whole career...if you even wanna call Spinks a big name because that star burned out pretty quickly.

Nobody is dissing Baldomir for exceeding the expectations of every boxing fan on the planet. We're dissing Judah for losing to a guy with 9 losses and 12 knockouts. LMAO

We all know Judah IS dangerous when he is prepared and ready to go mentally and physically , I will be the first to admit I am highly pissed off about his performance against Baldomir but you have to think this guy is going to come into this fight in the best form of his life and better against PBF.Pre baldomir I thought Judah may beat PBF now I seriously doubt it but i will watch the fight because it is boxing and you never really know until it happens,it could end up being a hell of a fight. :boxing:

Yeah, no one is knocking Baldomir for winning that fight.

i know, that's why i'm having a tough time debating over getting it (i'm sure i'll end up buying it, if anything to see if Mayweather can amaze me with his talent and skill once again) there's actually still a good deal of intrigue when it comes to this fight, believe it or not, IMO.

Two years ago I was begging for this fight because I thought (and still do) that these are the most talented two fighters on the planet...too bad they're best friends. Judah does not have the maturity to keep at the highest level so while he is probably the 2nd most talented fighter in the world, he does not have what it takes to compete with Floyd. Mayweather can embarrass Judah and KO him early, but he'll let him finish on his feet because they're best friends and we ALL know that now.

I think Judah is on a downfall and he knows it. He knows he won't be able to sell himself soon because of his chin and probably heart. Mayweather is getting Judah his last great payday so that Judah has an easier time going out of boxing. Mayweather is doing this because he is friends with him, as you notice he isn't talking any trash at all. Mayweather will destroy Judah and Judah will leave with his last fat paycheck.

DiegoFuego

The fact that Mayweather is still giving Judah the fight proves they are best friends. This will be a boring tactical fight that Mayweather can end anytime he chooses. Too bad it's going 12.

Point taken Diego. It just seems that no one gives Baldomir the credit he deserves. The man is a champion and Zab is not. Perhaps if more fighters would step into the ring with quality opponents they wouldn't be hauling around empty undefeated records.

DiegoFuego

So true. Like Brian Kenny said, Zab is not the man at 147, and Mayweather will not be the man if he beats Zab. Mayweather was never the man at 140 either.

You are mistaken.

Judah is NOT getting a fat check. Judah is gonna net somewhere in the neighborhood of $400k while Floyd will make nearly $6 million. That accounts for the angry look that you saw on Zab's face.

I feel no empathy for Zab because the loss of a big check is ENTIRELY his fault.

ON ANOTHER NOTE:

I don't think that Zab was PHYSICALLY unprepared for Baldomir. He didn't tire early - or even late - that badly. He just doesn't have the head (or chin) for consistent, elite performances. And knowing that he got rocked by father-dusting Baldomir has further shaken his confidence.

If I was Floyd, I would be punking him for the next two months about how I'm gonna test his chin and bang him early and often to the head. I would COMPLETELY ruin his psyche.

After the judah loss it took alot from the fight this was suppose to be a super fight! now its just an ordinary fight that Maywheather should win easily! But I wont even bull**** because I'm either going to be their live or see it on ppv for some reason. I think zab has a chance for the upset especially now that all of the odds are against him, wouldnt that just be crazy if Zab was to get the W?

you picked zab to knockout floyd in one of the most anticipated matches of 2006 and now youre totally hating on this fight. EVERYONE wanted to see this fight before, and zab will bring his best

In agreeance with you Diegofuego. This fight has lost a lot of its zap. Zab simply doesnt have the maturity level to maintain world class status. Every big fight that he has been in he chocked. His first fight with spinks etc

I'm going to offer a contrarian viewpoint.

The Baldomir loss makes this fight MORE intriguing. If Zab had TKO'd Baldomir in 9, or won an easy UD as we expected, would that add any drama to this fight? Everybody already knew that Zab had a suspect chin and that PBF was the superior fighter. Predictable fight.

The Baldomir loss, while hurting this fight COMMERCIALLY, has actually made this matchup MORE INTRIGUING to me. There are now some storylines and subtext that didn't exist before:

Will Zab rebound effectively?

How is Zab's confidence after being rocked by a feather-dusting Argentine?

Will FLOYD be OVERLY confident after seeing the Baldomir debacle?

How much animus does Zab carry due to his ****ty paycheck for this fight?

Does Zab "Stupor" Judah realize that this is his LAST chance to impress the boxing community?

comon...is this even a question in doubt? of course the fight will sell...pbf vs judah has been long anticipated....and everyone knows judah was half assing against baldomir .. overlooking him...dats why he got touched on the chin and almost went to bed...

fight of the year right here...unless breakdancin judah gets touched on the chin and starts doing some windmill...and c walking...

anyhow...it will sell big time...no doubt bout it.

He doesn't hate him because he lost a fight. He hates him because he was VERY close to creating one of the biggest fights in YEARS...all Judah had to do was just beat Baldomir...Baldomir has 8 losses and all to guys that ****ing SUCK!

Judah looked like CRAP in that fight and didn't seem to even give a **** in the end. It's the 3rd time he was exposed.

Corrales has proven over and over again that he is a warrior and wouldn't lose to a bum like that. Corrales never takes anyone lightly. To compare Corrales to Judah is a BIG sin.

exposed? So when you lose that means you are exposed? I hardly consider losing to SPinks to be "exposed"

Judah losing to spinks the first time was like Corrales losing to Casamayor
