Sock-Puppet 02-06-2006, 10:45 PM ok, so, what is better..situps or crunches?
is one better for boxing?
and is one better for developing abs?
and what's a good rep/set( im still confused on which is a rep and which is a set)... 2x15 ...?
RAESAAD 02-06-2006, 10:47 PM Neither if you are fat as me.....first I need to burn fat. :D
I say sit ups for over all results unless you just want to look pretty and be a soft as a grape.
phallus 02-06-2006, 10:49 PM sit ups blow, they're bad for your back, do crunches son, it's the only thing that can tone up my fat gut after a night of heavy drinkin and rib eatin
Versastyle 02-06-2006, 10:59 PM crunch's thats an easy question
ron123186 02-06-2006, 11:06 PM situps, at a decline, I do like 2 sets of 100 before i leave my boxing club
g00dz 02-06-2006, 11:33 PM situps bnecause they work your full stomach muscles.. crunches only work well for your upper stomach, situps for midsection and corkscrews for lower stomach. If you want a full abdominal workout you should do all 3.
oliverlt 02-07-2006, 05:22 AM Situps are proven to be bad for your back and neck.
Crunches are alot better.
Manfredo Jr 02-07-2006, 05:52 AM i prefer sit ups but i dunno wht is better for u
LHWchamp5 02-07-2006, 08:44 AM Personally I do weighted crunches with like a cushiony thingy under my lower back..
Discs in my back dig into the floor not the best feeling..
koco316 02-07-2006, 10:58 AM crunches are great. You should also try leg raises, they work the lower part of the stomach, the part that some of us hate to work.
tebe6sm 02-07-2006, 02:48 PM I personally do both cuz I have no idea which on to do, but I also do many other exercises for the midsection such as v-ups, knee hugs, leg lifts, scissors, planks, and so forth
RockyMarcianofan00 02-07-2006, 03:24 PM they do different things
cruches mid-lower abs
situps upper-mid abs

Dempsey 1919 02-07-2006, 06:13 PM crunches. i do 4 sets of 200 every day.
the_painless 02-07-2006, 09:04 PM crunches are much better. sit ups are ****ty for your back
Dyl-G 02-07-2006, 11:21 PM a combination fo both, situps work your top and middle abs real well, but crunches really work your top abs, but not much else, so you want to mix it up. for your bottom abs do leg raises and bicycle kicks thatll work your lower abs real well, as for reps, all i do is do it until it hurts and then some, then round that number up to the nearest 10, then this will set up a good number for you to do, and as it become easier youll increase how many you do in your rep
The Noose 02-08-2006, 03:41 PM I do sit ups, just because ive seen footage of Ali and Roy Jones doing traditional sit ups.
Im sure they do other types of stomach training but im sure if it was that bad for u, they wouldnt have done sit ups.
