The Raging Bull 09-19-2006, 11:56 AM if we play like that and if bobo balde comes back to help that dodgy defence i think we could definetly beat benfica and copehagen and hopefully get a result at celtic park against man utd
the tournament is off to a flier
with
barcelona
roma
bayern munich
and ac milan all playing some great football
it's gonna be tough for any teams who make it past the group stages
Celtic have a decent team and I can see you qualifying for the second stage, but I dont think your team has enough experience to go further. I feel their may be a few surprise teams, such as Valencia and Roma, but Inter Milan and Barca are the favourites to win.
But I'm dreaming for it to be 6 times for Liverpool :D

We are playing cautious at the moment because our attacking players haven't gelled properly yet.
And the Steven Gerrard fiasco, he's played one game there for Liverpool and played well but people didn't say anything about him playing there for England

I agree that maybe Benitez got it wrong, but if we played Gerrard in the centre, we need Alonso to spread the play and Sissoko to do the tidying up so Gerrard can roam. This is when he performs best. But then we would have to play with only 1 up front. Benitez wanted to play with 2 up front because of how well our front pair were playing, so he was in a bit of a dilemma.

his spanish he was very good few years ago with his team social and where on top for a couple of weeks.
West Ham, it got some drama in the club because they year it regulated was exciting because they where pretty close to Bolton and lost to Bolton. They won Chelsa and there coach had a heart attack.
most of Chelsa players come from West Ham nearly all the defense

Alonso was amazing during his time playing for Real Sociedad. He was being courted by teams like Real Madrid and AC Milan, but couldn't resist the lure of Liverpool and the clubs great traditions.
The year West Ham got relegated was an amzing year for football. They got relegated even though they had won 41 points over the course fo the season. In any other season, they would of stayed up. That was also the year Liverpool finished second with 79 points, which in a normal season would win you the league.
And yes, Chelsea's english players are mostly from West Ham.

I hear it was a great performance from Celtic. And Kenny Miller got his long awaited goal...against his former team.
Things are looking good for Celtic and it just goes to show that Petrov was not indispensable.
Good luck against Fc Copenhagen.

I agree with that team, but I don't really think Terry has been all that this season so far. I may be a bit biased, but I'd put Agger ahead of him. Also, maybe Parker ahead of Cahill because Cahill was off form for the first 3 games of the season and hasn't brought much to the Everton team this season apart from his goals.

Its about opinions mate, Cahill this season has been superb for me, last season he had to concentrate on defensive duties more, this season with Everton playing 5 in midfield he has been allowed to float and play behind Johnson and he looks very effective.
Agger looks great and I hope he will be the replacement for Hyypia, not sure he is the best against the big forwards like Drogba and Beattie but he adds more coming forward then any centre back we have had since Hansen.

Yep, around 30 years now!
First sat in the Kop when I was 4, used to be a season ticket holder but moved away for about 15 years so...I live back in Merseyside these days and go to any game I can, been on the waiting list for a season ticket for four years so I should get the shout soon.
I went on the last few trips to Cardiff with my two boys (League Cup v Chelsea, FA Cup v West Ham and Charity Shield this season) and I will be going to Bordeaux on the 18th Oct.
What about you, get to many games?

I first sat in the kop when I was about 8 when we beat Parma 5-0 in a pre-season friendly. I live in Blackburn so I only get to about 10-12 games a season. I went to the FA cup final too, and the community shield.

No, I am due to be eligible next season for my ticket.
I have a mate though who has and he has to work some weekends so I get his seat, also I am 10 minutes from the ground so I can easily pop to the ticket office and pick up the odd ticket!
Great game tonight, bit open for my liking but better than a bore draw, and all the goals were good ones especially Crouchy's!
How come you support Liverpool when you have a good premiership side in your own town, is it a family thing?
I have been to a few Blackburn away games (*in my army days) and like the club.

Yeah at the min probably Kuyt, I have a love hate relationship going on with Luis Garcia though, some days I worship him, other days I want to kick the shit out of the bastard!!
He looks good this season though, he seems to have dropped some of the stupid tricks in our own half games he used to play and is looking a great player!
I played against Robbie when I was 17 (he was about 15) and he destroyed us, he scored 7 times and was unbelievable!

I think everyone has that relationship with Luis. He is probably the most frustrating player in the premiership lol. He lost possesion easily too many times last season, but he is cleverer on the ball now.
How come you played with God? You lucky get lol.

I played for a team called Olympic (Wirral side that David Thompson played for later on) and we won the Merseyside Police Fed Cup Under 18's, the team who did the same in Liverpool where I think Everton Valley (Or something close) and we played for the Merseyside Cup.
Robbie we had heard about, he was supposedly on the books at Liverpool but could still play. As he was young we weren't that worried but he killed us, he played up front with Dele Adebola (Former Crewe player) and they destroyed us 11 - 2.
Robbie played deep that day and chipped our keeper three times, obviously I remembered him, then a couple of years later he was in the Liverpool squad and Adebola went to Crewe!

I remember Adebola. Robbie talks a lot about him in his autobiography. Damn you're lucky getting to play against a future anfield legend.
When I went on holiday, we were having a kick around on this astro turf pitch and this 6yr old and his dad come and ask if they could play. I am 15 and I thought this was a bit wierd, but when the kid started playing, he was fantastic.
He was called Bailey Morgan and he's on the academy's books already. Remember the name.

Yeah, its amazing how it can make you forget in my case that I am in my 30's!
The end of last season I was having a business meeting in a Liverpool hotel when the whole squad came in including Robbie, I spoke to a few of them and asked Robbie if he remembered the game (he didn't really) and I was like a 5 year old!
By the way you wouldn't know you were 15 as you seem more mature than many of the so called adults that come in here!

I probably wouldn't even be able to talk properly. I've met Stevie and Carra at some executive dinners at Anfield, but Robbie was my first idol in football. I would be speechless if I was to meet him.
Thanks for the compliment. I don't really see the point of acting like a dick on the internet. I just act like myself. You're also very good to talk to

Glad to see Ole GS back to his best, great servant to MU and deserves some luck.
I'm not happy with the Premier League though, why did Liverpool have to play on Saturday at 12.45(Away) after playing on Wednesday evening but United played on Tuesday and had until Sunday to rest???
Those two days make a big difference!
Poor fixture control, don't get me wrong United deserve their position but lets make it a fair playing ground to start with!

Yes, but the CL fixtures come out later and usually the Premier League adjust the games around this, I know that Liverpool on seeing that they had these fixtures coming up asked formally for this to be changed to the Monday night but it was turned down!

even as a scot i'll admit it's true
but too many englishmen are happy to slag scottish football without realizing
how good scots can be at football
kenny dalgleish arguably the greatest player ever to play for liverpool
and the liverpool side from the late 70's to the mid 80's which dominated europe
had at least 4 or 5 scots as first team players
also billy bremner again arguably the greatest player ever to play for leeds
and there are many more
we somehow never managed to realize our full potential as a national team
especially in the late 60's and 70's

Billy Liddel was a scot, and he is up there with the best who have played for Liverpool. Scotland has produced some amazing players, and done well in a few international tournaments, but not consistantly. This is why people look down on the Scots.

Rangers fans are extremely deluded and always have been. Le Guen did a good job at arguably the easiest place in european football, Lyon. They have complete control over the french league and have first option on all the best young players in the country. They are also in a poor league with weak competition so there is no-one to compete witht them. Le Guen never really done anything in europe with Lyon, proving he's not a world class manager like people keep saying.
Like Romanov said that in Scotland! The hearts fans should assasinate him lol.

I agree about the Beckham move. He would bring a ton of money to the club though, even if he doesn't play well.
I have seen him play once or twice and have read about him. O'neill was raving about him when he was your manager in an interview with fourfourtwo. O'neill said that he could become one of Scotlands legends, he was that talented.

i agree with you on both counts
it's almost criminal the way le tissier was overlooked and not given his chance on the world stage. he is and was easily one of the most gifted players ever to come out of england and that's saying something
id still say roberto carlos's freekick was better just for the sheer audacity of it and also i remember watching that as a youngster and thinking it was magic how the ball swerved in about 3 different directions before going in

He was a true professional about it too. He never moaned or demanded to leave Southampton to increase his international chances. People think leaving out Kevin Nolan is a crime, but just think how most english people felt about Le Tissier being left out!
I remember reading something in a magazine once about Carlos' freekick. It said that they thought he had severely miskicked it because it was headed for the corner flag, then it just started curling, to thier amazement. It really was an incredible goal, and he's still living off it now.

Nope. Pennant will be back to full fitness next week, so we will have a natural right winger. That means we won't need to play wing backs.
I don't really trust the formation, never have. Even when Evan's used to play it and we were winning every game I didn't like it.

It seems like there is constantly surrounding West Ham. There a good team with a decent fan base, and I can see why you like them. I just hope they get themselves ou of this rut. Good result for them today against Sheff. Utd, 1-0.

last match i seen was Hotspur and Chelsa was one exciting match.
british football is one of the best. Arg. is has the best talents.
As for UAE nearly all the english team bough some property in Dubai they could play here someday. UAE have dont have much older good play but some of the mixed. That is Qatar.
who will you think will topple Lyon for the french league? They are pretty strong for the past 5 years.

Tottenham v Chelsea was a great match with a great result .
Oh ye I got mixed up with Qatar and UAE. My mistake. It would be good for the Arabian leagues if English teams went over there for friendly's etc. Make it more appealing to the masses.
I honestly don't see anyone coming anywhere near Lyon in the close future. If Lille keep improving, it could be them. Or Marseille if they get everything sorted. But it's not likely.

Man United, Newcastle and Chalrton came to camp here during the mid-season thingy.
and Man United got its school to teach football.
Cut the embarssment a friendly wont be that good idea we had once with the national team against Brazil and they scored 8-0.
Lyon right now looks unbeatable. and not even close in beating them.
next week is going to be one of the best clash. Man United and Chelsa at Old Trafford.
What happen to Liverpool and Arsenal it look they stopped racing for the league and taken a nap. espcailly Liverpool they got great players and talent and they should use every bit of them.
West Ham arg. duo is doing a bit of magic but i think the won stay long because they have languge problem and stuff like. they just came to West Ham so they could go to a gaint or med-size spanish club.

United and Chelsea play tomorrow. Liverpool and Arsenal haven't been in good form this season, but both teams are starting to pick up. Liverpool are still in transition in my opinion and people need to remember that.
I think Tevez and Mascherano will end up at a club like Atletico Madrid or Inter Milan. Things just haven't worked out for them, through no fault of their own.

i think they could go to Sevilla too.
but they gotta give something for West Ham or they wont go anywhere.
i wonder how the coach and player communicate with each other when you got some player who dont know english

id say chelsea go out in the quarters or the semis though.

Even though I hate to say it, this could be one of the coups of the season and I think that maybe Liverpool should of made a move for him. He is still a great player, and you've already stated examples of the damage he can cause.

I agree with you completely and even though FIFA tried stamping down on it, ref's can't always make the right choices because they only have a limited view of what's going on and not a lot of time to make a decision.
