View Full Version : Is Boxing Betta WIthout Vitali Klitschko?
Manny_P 02-04-2006, 11:53 AM looks that way to me. Now we got Toney fightin Rahman, then Wlad will fight fo a belt. All looks good.
Vitali is grabge IMO and he was the reason HW division stank!
Manny_P 02-04-2006, 11:59 AM Vitali is sooooo gay. I just hated that jab AKA slap he does. So sketchy and so NOT BOXING!
paul750 02-04-2006, 12:01 PM Boxing is very much worse without him, because he was the only decent champion out there, and it would have been interesting to see him against the likes of Rahman, Toney and the others.
Konstantin 02-04-2006, 12:05 PM Vitali is sooooo gay. I just hated that jab AKA slap he does. So sketchy and so NOT BOXING!
I really dont know wtf you're talking about. Vitali had one of the best jabs in the HW division. How the **** did he outbox everyone if it weren't for it?

Quite possibly the stupidest post I've read today. And I've been reading a couple different boards for the past couple of hours...
What exactly does Vitali retiring have to do with Wlad earnng #1 contender status by beating Peter? How exactly is Vitali the reason the HW division stank? He was regarded as the best of the current champs and was the guy who everyone else was evaluated against. He was also the guy everyone called out and wanted to fight. A truly great HW? No. But he would have been favored against any other current HW that he fought.
Go back and get some more sleep, complete at least two remedial phonics workbooks, then come back and try and post again. Thanks!
BLOODSHED 02-04-2006, 12:14 PM Without a doubt its better. You no longer have a champ that is afraid to defend it and makes up injuries while jogging when it was known he was being dropped in sparring sessions with nobodies.
paul750 02-04-2006, 12:18 PM In terms of being a selling point to the public he was bad though, men in suits don't really sell, but a rematch with Lewis would have been huge though.
ChrististheAnswer2 02-04-2006, 12:18 PM I liked Vitali but he was way too inactive. Yes maybe not all of it was his fault but still, one fight a year will not cut it.
It was obvious he didn't have the fire to fight anymore and he did the right thing by stepping aside, I wish him the best.
Derranged 02-04-2006, 12:27 PM Stupid post, nothing but hate. But it may be better because if it ever came down to it, the brothers would never fight each other which would cause problems for unifying. But i would've liked him to fight Toney so he could pound on him and shut him up. Wlad will do that anyway if they fight.

Viotali was a paper chump. He fought guys that brough no threat. Lewis and Byrd was the only credible foes he fough and he lost by TKO.
then when he got WBC, he got the nerve to fight ONCE a year, ON PPV, WHICH STANK BY THE WAY. Now that Vitali is gone, look at the match-ups. Rahamna fights Toney, Wlad possibly fihghts Byrd/Brewster. Vitali WOULDNT have fought Brewster cuz he would get decapitated.
then Vitali is a steroid user in olympics AND WAS EXXXXPOSED! He gets too many injuries cuz of steroid usage. HE FAKES SO MANY INJURIES to avoid Rahman.
VITALI made the heavyweight a bad diviosn. he a clown!

ELPacman 02-04-2006, 12:53 PM This thread is definitely based on hating. I think Vitali was decent. He did put up a valiant effort against Lewis whether or not Lewis was at his best. He didn't want the fight stopped and pleaded badly. He's knocked out nearly everyone he's faced. He had a great chin which could make for some who can be the first to truely knock him out type thing? He did have very nice boxing skills which are underrated. His jab was like a torpedo and he threw a nice variety of shots. I think if he would have stayed more active, he would have helped the division even though people more or less didn't like him as much.(Guys gotta let go of Drago! ;) ) I think the current crop of HW still suck balls and are not fun to watch. Toney is COOL, he's not that good as a heavyweight. He doesn't carry the knockout power and looks like he just came outta fat burger before every match. He's getting by his opponents based on them being nearly his size and he can outbox them easily. If he faced a huge heavyweight, namely Vitali, he woulda been KOed. Brewster is an odd ball. He looks like a man afraid of everyone prior to KOing Golota and that's about his only great merit. His win over Wlad looked lame. I think HW's are done, period.
Manny_P 02-04-2006, 12:54 PM what say you?! It's proven already.
HW division sucks when Vitali came to the scene and Lewis retired.
Vitali fought bums and WON, fought top dawgs LOST
Vitali used steroids and was EXXXPOSED!!!!
Vitali retires in fear of Rahman fakin injuries on the process in 1 year time span.
NOW TELL ME, how is Vitali good fo BOXING?! PLEASE!
Manny_P 02-04-2006, 12:57 PM and no I aint biased, Im tellin it how it is. Vitali is a good man, proud of his country and appreciate all of that, BUT HE WAS BAD FO BOXING! I hope he just becomes a professional chess player, or get a GED in AMerica and pursue becomin a Doctor. Or get back in Kickboxing cuz I heard steroid is allowed there.

I don't think so.
Dirt E Gomez 02-04-2006, 01:12 PM The heavyweight divisions is/was a ****ty division with or without Vitali. It'd be nice to have an active champ but none of the other ones are exactly fighting often either.

Read your first two posts.
You said Vitali is a garbage, jab aka slap.
His style was awkward and not very pleasant to watch,
and yet it was effective.
Gotta accept he was THE threat in the division.
I personally think his boxing ability was underrated...
Now, to the main topic of this thread,
boxing was good WITH vitali up until he backed out of Rahman fight repeatedly..that was just simply annoying.

BREWSTER IS GOOD. His latest wins are very impressive.
Vitali is none but an ovahyped tall doo. James Toney woulda make him look foolish like a nerdy kid comin to a boxing website!
Kid Achilles 02-04-2006, 02:02 PM Vitali was clearly the best of the bunch so his loss was certainly bad for boxing.

34 ko's in 36 wins speak for themselves...
Bozo_no no 02-04-2006, 09:21 PM Vitali was undeservingly given the Ring title, and was rated by too many as the top fighter in the division despite doing nothing to earn that praise.
He was fighting infrequently, and agaistn poor opposition.
It's definatly better that he's not around anymore to delay things.

Klitschko juest retired FEW months back. By the look of the fights right now (Toney vs Rahman, Wlad vs Title Holder), ITIS GETTING BETTA. That's 2 title fights already I listed. When Vitali was here, he was injured way too often, FOUGHT ONCE A YEAR, and fought the ones THAT ARE UNDESERVING of title shots. IT SUCKED WHEN HE WAS HERE! It looks promising NOW that he retired.
and yes, Toney will beat Rahman. but that'sa different topic on how Toney could possibly rule the division if he's gives the proper fights. He hasn't lost at heavyweight, dominatted all oppositions and to bag on him sayin "he's fat and old" is just plain silly.

It's certianlly no worse. They guy never fought, and when he did, it was against cream puffs. If he was still active we'd see him fight once a year, and agaisnt guys like Maskaev.

You surely do. You learn so much that the shame causes you to leave this site and come back in hiding.
!!Captain 02-04-2006, 11:33 PM What is this, a "Haters Unite!" thread? Vitali was in exactly the same position as Lewis was in the beginning of 90's. Don King wouldn't let anybody close to Lewis and Lewis didn't want to get anywhere near DK. That's why it took Lewis so long to get the belts and unify. Vitali retired because of his injuries and never accomplished unification but to say that he was bad for boxing is just plain stupid. It's obvious that Manny is bored and just looking to stir some **** up again.

Actually, you're British or some **** like that... aren't you? Perhaps the proper use of "then" and "than" are actually different, all things considering. I mean, it doesn't change the fact that I think you're a moron... but, you know... In this case maybe not.
Just checked, I'm definately right... Brit or not.

Roy Jones Jr. was a fraud, and you speculationg otherwise makes you a dummie. Talk to any knowledgable boxing historian, and you'll find Roy Jones Jr. being talked about with the likes of Curry, Camacho Sr. etc.
James Toney isn't a hall of famer, because he hasn't got there. Simple as.
You do know he hasn't beat a top 10 fighter, or a titlist right?
Nice work radio.

LostGuy 02-04-2006, 11:55 PM vitali was boring i never saw all that much to him. wlad was the one to watch. even though wlad has a crap chin etc etc he is still much better than vitali. he hits harder and moves faster and is just plain better than his brother. all vitali had was a better chin of course. i dont see boxing as better without vitali because it would be better to see someone knock him out but thats all. really he never beat anyone very impressive. his best thing was a loss to lewis which proves either he wasnt as powerful as they made out or lewis had a better chin than they claimed.

then Vitali is a steroid user in olympics AND WAS EXXXXPOSED! He gets too many injuries cuz of steroid usage. HE FAKES SO MANY INJURIES to avoid Rahman.
VITALI made the heavyweight a bad diviosn. he a clown!
Agreed. Vitali is a European clown not fit for the HW division.
He avoided a lot of opponents which he knew would KO him. He lost to good fighters. Most especially to Lewis in humiliating fashion.
All in all, HW boxing would be better without that slap-ass for a HW champ.

You are one of the worst posters on this forum, why would Vitali be afraid of being KO'd if Lennox Lewis couldnt even do it?

TheEvilSaint 02-05-2006, 12:01 PM vitali was the ONE guy who didnt talk trash, gave credit where credit was due, never underestimated anybody, and was the HW champion who would actually KNOCK PEOPLE OUT! ever see that? a HW champion who wins by KO? does that fight dodger byrd do that? no. does that ****** ruiz do that? no. does that freak valuev do that? **** no.
vitali was good for boxing, regardless of what you might think about him.

Basically, every time I see you post, it's just talking bull**** about the topic's focal point. I contribute to this site, and from what I've seen, you do little more than talk ****. I'd like to see you prove or even suggest how I'm a bad poster.

You're the REAL 15 yr old girl. You only like BOXING becuz of "handsome looking men". ISnt it a wonder why you like Sturm who is NOTHING except his loss to de la hoya?! HAHAHAHAHA!
Easy-E 02-05-2006, 03:16 PM i voted yes simply for the fact that we are seeing alot of good fights being made latley, and champions are taking on big contenders, unlike what vitali was doing before his retirement
The___Hitman 02-05-2006, 03:30 PM Anyone that voted no should be abolished from this planet.
Kid Achilles 02-05-2006, 04:51 PM I hope Vitali comes back, though it's doubtful. He had, without a doubt, the most potential of any of the current crop in terms of size, chin, skill, and psychological makeup. His only faults were his injuries. Heavyweight boxing lost it's premier fighter when he retired, and anyone who thinks that somehow put the sport ahead is an immature hater.

First he said he retired because of the injury, then he said he wanted to retire as a champion, and then he said he'll come back to fight Lewis, but not Rahman?
Anyone that thinks this guy is good for the sport needs a brain transplant.
Bozo_no no 02-05-2006, 04:58 PM Vitali Klitschko was undeservingly given the ring belt, and occupied the top spot in too many people’s opinions having done nothing to earn such a distinction.
His biggest fights were losses, he never beat anyone worthwhile, and in the last few years when the Heavyweight division has been in dire straights, he was either fighting fringe contenders or not fighting at all.
He was doing nothing good for the division, was stalling it’s progress, and had the WBC title tired up in limbo.
Moving forward without out him is progress for the Heavyweight division.

exactly. Vitali is a fvckin bum!!!!
Hypocrite wasnts to COME BACk IF ONLY LEWIS COMEBACK. Talk about a LOZR who just wants a big payday.
Im glad this clown is outa here. Neva enjoyed his fights. Only the Lewis one.

It wont officialy be better until Tony-Rach happens
josenoway 02-06-2006, 02:27 AM definitely better. he wasn't fighting at all and the HW division was already hurting.
how come vk gats all this hating from inactivity whan he was more active than byrd and more active than lewis was in his time?
and byrd and lewis wasnt injured, vk was
GunStar 02-06-2006, 07:25 AM The reason I voted yes, because he never fought anyone since he won the belt. I don't know if he was really injured or he's worried about failing the steroid test. Boxing is getting a little tougher with steroid, considering that Vitali already failed a steroid test in the Olympics, it wouldn't surprise me if that's the reason he retired. That Rahman fight was on for 3 different dates, all because of Vitali is keep injuring himself.
Vitali goes into could've should've been list. He had a good chance to dominate for awhile, but never did.

34 kos in 36 wins is pretty impressive, i think u would rather watch chris byrd fight, all klitschko fights were entartaining..

das what im talking bout...
GunStar 02-06-2006, 08:21 AM das what im talking bout...You can add just about everyone else on that list, with the exception of Toney.
I'm really not happy the way Vitali careers went, but lets be honest he could've been an all time great. Because he had great power, had a great chin & was probably the smartest HW fighter.
The only person I would've giving a chance to beat Vitali was Toney, because Toney is slickest boxer. Guys like Rahman, Peter, Brewester, his brother Wlad would've never had a chance beating a guy like Vitali. I don't think he would've ever fought his brother. I would've favored Vitali over Lewis if they ever fought again.
The big differences between Vitali & Wlad is. Vitali has a better chin, better stamina & he's a smarter HW boxer. Wlad may be a little better boxer, power is pretty even between the two.
