This thread is definitely based on hating. I think Vitali was decent. He did put up a valiant effort against Lewis whether or not Lewis was at his best. He didn't want the fight stopped and pleaded badly. He's knocked out nearly everyone he's faced. He had a great chin which could make for some who can be the first to truely knock him out type thing? He did have very nice boxing skills which are underrated. His jab was like a torpedo and he threw a nice variety of shots. I think if he would have stayed more active, he would have helped the division even though people more or less didn't like him as much.(Guys gotta let go of Drago! ;) ) I think the current crop of HW still suck balls and are not fun to watch. i voted yes simply for the fact that we are seeing alot of good fights being made latley, and champions are taking on big contenders, unlike what vitali was doing before his retirement

I hope Vitali comes back, though it's doubtful. He had, without a doubt, the most potential of any of the current crop in terms of size, chin, skill, and psychological makeup. His only faults were his injuries. Heavyweight boxing lost it's premier fighter when he retired, and anyone who thinks that somehow put the sport ahead is an immature hater.

First he said he retired because of the injury, then he said he wanted to retire as a champion, and then he said he'll come back to fight Lewis, but not Rahman?

Anyone that thinks this guy is good for the sport needs a brain transplant.

Vitali Klitschko was undeservingly given the ring belt, and occupied the top spot in too many people’s opinions having done nothing to earn such a distinction.

His biggest fights were losses, he never beat anyone worthwhile, and in the last few years when the Heavyweight division has been in dire straights, he was either fighting fringe contenders or not fighting at all.

He was doing nothing good for the division, was stalling it’s progress, and had the WBC title tired up in limbo.

Moving forward without out him is progress for the Heavyweight division.

The reason I voted yes, because he never fought anyone since he won the belt. I don't know if he was really injured or he's worried about failing the steroid test. Boxing is getting a little tougher with steroid, considering that Vitali already failed a steroid test in the Olympics, it wouldn't surprise me if that's the reason he retired. That Rahman fight was on for 3 different dates, all because of Vitali is keep injuring himself.

Vitali goes into could've should've been list. He had a good chance to dominate for awhile, but never did.

Agreed. Vitali is a European clown not fit for the HW division.

He avoided a lot of opponents which he knew would KO him. He lost to good fighters. Most especially to Lewis in humiliating fashion.

All in all, HW boxing would be better without that slap-ass for a HW champ.

das what im talking bout...You can add just about everyone else on that list, with the exception of Toney.

I'm really not happy the way Vitali careers went, but lets be honest he could've been an all time great. Because he had great power, had a great chin & was probably the smartest HW fighter.

The only person I would've giving a chance to beat Vitali was Toney, because Toney is slickest boxer. Guys like Rahman, Peter, Brewester, his brother Wlad would've never had a chance beating a guy like Vitali. I don't think he would've ever fought his brother. I would've favored Vitali over Lewis if they ever fought again.

The big differences between Vitali & Wlad is. Vitali has a better chin, better stamina & he's a smarter HW boxer. Wlad may be a little better boxer, power is pretty even between the two.
