Since were doing the strongest chins lets look at the weakest chin, only applied to present and past reigning champions, who has the weakest chin?
Diegeo Corrales shoots to mind straight away on the current champions, for all his power he has hit the deck so much in his career.
Lets also focus on....the most successful champion with a weak chin in boxing history!
Floyd Patterson perhaps....
anymore suggestions?

Bruce Seldon deserves a mention in this thread.

Seldon may not be applicable to put in this category cause for the most part his chin seemed ok, his major weakness is an invisible area right about 2-6 inches directly above his forehead (as Tyson showed everyone) the trick is to not hit any part of his head if you do that he's helpless, LOL!!!!!!!! His other weakness is of course a big set of Man-Titties, they seemed to mesmerize him in his fight w/ Nobles

For real though if you count the WBO champs I'd say W. Klitschko, T. Morrison(reluctantly), Naseem Hamed, FloydPatterson, Mike Weaver,David Bey,!

Hamed comes to mind.

There's nothing wrong with Hamed's chin. I can't think of 1 occasion where he's looked hurt, never mind like being stopped. ****ty balance & technique, that's all.

RJJ's the most obvious along with Hearns, Judah and a few others.

Leon Spinks for sure.

Tommy Hearns and Six Heads Lewis come to mind. Both always a good punch away from losing a fight they had been dominating.

Tommy "the hitman" Hearns & Lennox Lewis

The first person that comes to mind is Tommy Morrison. He was a pure powerhouse but when he got hit, he was out of it. I never though he would have beaten Foreman, I don't think Big George put 100% into that fight. They were friends at the time.

I've seen a few people on here say The Prince, hes never been koed? RJJ never got hit like he did in the last couple of fights, his jaw is definately questionable.

Michael Grant is in my top glass jaw list. He couldn't think when he got tagged, he wouldn't grab and survive when he had too.

Do you think a glass jaw can be due to lack of heart?

Exactly weak chin.

Exactly weak chin.

 More like weak defence. He'd have been stopped a few times if he had a weak chin.

SweetScience

He'd have been stopped if he fought anyone good. He'd have been KO'd if he took a risk in the MAB fight.

I guess you're right, MAB never landed a decent shot on him and neither did Kelley, Vasquez, Soto, Johnson, Ingle, McCullough, etc.

Hmmmm, at the time MAB,Morales,Norwood and JMM, in which Hamed didn't want to fight. JMM #1 contender to Hamed's WBO title and somehow it never happened....I wonder why?

I think Hamed was good for boxing in that he made the featherweight division some money. When I seen how he fought Kelley while Kelley was shot already, I know Hamed was overrated. Hamed said he wanted to fight the best and after that fight with Kelley then he back-peddaled. All Hamed did was steal Camacho's act and made it bigger and fought easy opponents. Made alot of money doing it too.

Morales was campaigning at lower weights when Hamed was fighting, Norwood had stopped fighting by the time Hamed moved up to FW and JMM hadn't proved anything at that point. Hamed wanted to fight people like MAB and Espinosa at that time, not mandatories.

Anyway, if you want to think that he has a weak chin based on a poor defence and a few flash kd's I'll leave you to it. A weak chin in my book is when someone is shaken to their feet by average punches, not when they get off their ass smiling and KO the other guy seconds later.

Junior Jones (not Roy Jones Jr.)had a horrible chin.
I'm still shocked he managed to avoid the canvas against Marco Antonio Barrera.

Kimmy

I`m with you Frank the Tank. Hamed i think had a decent chin. The knockdowns he suffered were a result of being off balance or showing off too much. Kevin Kelly had hamed down three times in there 4 round war but Hamed didn`t take a count on one occasion because he bounced back up. He wasn`t hurt or shook from the blow, he was caught with feet together doing a limbo dance, thats all.
If you wanna keep with the featherweights with week chins look no further than Junior Jones. Jones had everything, speed, power, height and reach, just the one of the worse chins in boxing history!

There's very little evidence Hamed had a weak chin. His knockdowns were because of his poor balance.

Frank Tate ?

He was only stopped by Nunn....& that was on a body shot.....on a body that was totally weight-drained....& exhausted by being completely smacked silly by Nunn.

You'd be thinking quite right there !
What about Big John's loss to Berbick ?
John got tapped...& went staggerig forward as Berbick bopped his dome.

Tate was a very big guy for that time period, but had a flyweight's chin.

The Mike Weaver KO was also brutal. I saw him in the Olympics getting bombed out on a not too particularly hard right hand from Teofilo Stevenson that was pretty embarrassing.

Thomas Hearns if only he had a chin like Hagler he would be in the all time top 10 p4p.

foremanfan
01-19-2005, 06:20 PM
Bruce Seldon comes to mind for me. Hearns someone mentioned is a little unfair, suspect chin but not the weakest of chins. Whilst he was in his prime it took Leonard 14 rounds to finish hearns off.

morancito
01-19-2005, 06:49 PM
The weakest chin ever belonged to the great Pipino Cuevas, who was also one of the hardest p4p punchers ever.

But Bruce Seldon was never a champion...he merely held a belt.
