View Full Version : Week 3 NFL Playoffs - AFC/NFC
Soundtraveler 01-18-2005, 01:57 PM So it's down to the final 4 teams and here we are at the AFC/NFC Conf. Championship!
http://img56.exs.cx/img56/6333/fantastic40ku.jpg
In the NFC it's the Falcons vs Eagles in the early game! 3:00pm
For the AFC it's the Steelers vs Patriots in the late game! 6:30pm
I will be watching on the HUGE 20'x 20'screen at the casino, then I will drive home Sunday night after the game, which puts me back in New Orleans early Monday morning.
My picks for the games to follow....
Soundtraveler 01-18-2005, 02:22 PM In the NFC game I am going with the Eagles over the Falcons and I predict there will be "feathers flying" in this one! Falcons fans can expect Michael Vick to make big plays, because he will. But that is all the Falcons have in their favor, and the Eagles are a bit better balanced in their attack on both sides of the ball. So I am picking balance over a one man show. Look for a ton of big hits by the Defense from both teams!
And in the AFC I am going with the Patriots with all the experience over the Rookie QB of the Steelers and his "dream season". I would love to see the Steelers finally win one so Bradshaw can get some braggin' in on the FOX guys, but it's hard to imagine that they can beat the Patriots, who are too good on both sides of the ball as it turns out - even without T.O.!!
jabsRstiff 01-18-2005, 02:36 PM The weather forecast for Sunday's Eagles-Falcons is game is a very wintry one.
Highs in the low-mid 20's...very windy...potential for snowfall.

Hmmm, should make for tough passing then, I am still going with the Eagles....
Floydmayweather 01-18-2005, 03:10 PM I think Patriots will be overconfident against Pit. Dillion had a feild day against the Indy rush d but it sucks. Pit is number 1 in rush defense and overall defense. Ben will get rid of the butterflies and the bus and duce will have a big day.
Pit 24 New England 17

that makes me pick the eagles even more now. i don't think the panzy falcons will be able to handle the weather conditions. they play in a dome so they won't be able to handle the cold. i go with the eagles. vick will prolly fake an injury as soon as they begin to lose. that way its not his fault they lose.

i can only hope pittsy pulls this one off. ben better shake whatever it was that was wrong this past weekend or the pattys will annihilate them.
LittleBigMan 01-18-2005, 05:48 PM Eagles over Falcons
Patriots over Steelers
Soundtraveler 01-19-2005, 02:06 AM I'll bet 1 million points on the Eagles over the Falcons,
And an additional 1 million on the Patriots over the Steelers.
Who wants it?!
Boxerdog 01-19-2005, 08:33 AM How many points you giving?
J/K......I like the Falcons to win straight up so I'll take it.
(just don't think you're slick, Nawlins!) :D

You got it, 1 million straight up, that's how I like to bet - straight up. By the way, I like the Falcons too, but I am going to pull for the Eagles just to be different, because it seems everyone in the Big Easy is pulling for Atlanta!
B-Dog bets 1 million on the Falcons!
Soundtraveler bets 1 million on the Eagles!
Good Luck!

I'm kind of surprised that the Eagles are only favored by 4 to 4.5 at home over the Falcons. I think the Eagles will handle them pretty easily if the weather is poor.
LittleBigMan 01-19-2005, 01:38 PM Brady vs. McNabb, your Superbowl this year
Explosivo 01-19-2005, 02:57 PM I got the Eagles for NFC. Even without TO they are just a much more balanced team than the Falcons. Vick is good, but hes not that good. this will be the year the Eagles make it to the big game. As for the AFC, I just cant see the Pats loosing this one. I know that the Steelers beat them in the regular season, but this is the playoffs, and if there is one team in the NFL who you would pick to win the big game when they need to its the Pats.
I see a New England vs Philly SuperBowl!!!

....Also, don't forget that Corey Dillon did not play in that game that they lost to the Steelers. Alot of people forget that little fact.
gotta go with my eagles!! LOL
patriots vs steelers is a toss up. i hate new england and steelers so it doesn't matter to me, but to pick one, for sum reason im leaning on steelers side
SonnyG8R 01-19-2005, 05:34 PM New England at Pittsburgh
Favorite NE
Point spread -3
Atlanta at Phila.
Favorite PHI
Point spread -5½

And an additional 1 million on the Patriots over the Steelers.

My gut tells me the Eagles and Patriots as well, but just for fun I'll take the Falcons and Steelers for 1 mill each if you lay the points. It's just not fair otherwise.
marvdave 01-19-2005, 06:50 PM Falcons over Eagles in the upset
Pats over my beloved Steelers  :(
I might be a homer for the Steelers, but my eyes don't lie. I can't see a victory for them this time. What a great year however. It could only get better. At the start of the year, I had my Steelers pegged for 8-8 maybe. 15-1 aint bad

This Steelers team is only like the 4th 15-1 team since the NFL went to a 16 game season. That's pretty impressive.

Man, I really, really, really, really, really hope so!!! If they will just play like they did against the pat's the first time they played them then all should go well for them.
I love for the Falcons to beat Philly (just a guess when really it's anybodys game!)
AIR_KENG 01-19-2005, 08:01 PM i wish the eales would win this one. i am all-out to support mcnabb in attending his 1st ever superbowl!!! three years in a row is a difficult to swallow, but four times? i certainly hope that won't happen.
the steelers maybe the topseed but i am still considering them as the underdos in this match. brady is just dan ood in playoff games and he still is doing iq pretty well. and with the additio of dillon, that would be a plus for new england. but i am going to root for the underdogs... i hope big ben completes his dream season with a bang...
The Fix 01-19-2005, 08:12 PM i dont know who to pick anymore.
the steelers have already beaten the patriots this year and they keep winning games when normal team are not supposed too. pit keeps getting all the bounces in their favor. anyway here are my picks
pit beats NE- they win because the qb doesnt have to play well for them to win
philly beats atl- they have to win the nfc sometime and this looks like it is finally their year.
Dr.Depravity 01-19-2005, 11:37 PM I usually root for the underdog...but in this case I hope New England beats Pittsburg. Im sooo tired of hearing about "Big Ben" I could die. Pats D was fantastic! I think the Falcons will be too much for the Eagles. (Im sick of McNabb also)

B-Dog got the bet for the Falcons game, but I need a bet for the Steelers game, I don't see the Steelers winning, but I would be happy to cover the points in that one...

What the hell, they are just boxingscene points. I'll take the Steelers plus 3.
SonnyG8R 01-23-2005, 02:11 PM Go Falcons!
Go Steelers!
QueenCity 01-23-2005, 02:17 PM I like the home teams today, I'll go with Philly and Pittsburg.

Don't rush them! They will be "going" today.........HOME to watch the big game on T.V.! :p
SonnyG8R 01-23-2005, 04:25 PM This is a great first half of the Falcons-Eagles game.
Currently 14-10 Philly.

lol..you may be right B-dog, you may be right! My head says they will lose, but I gotta go with my heart and say win, win, win. I know if they play the way they played the last few games, theyre doomed. But, I'm really hoping they will play as good as I know they can and pull out a victory. I can hope anyway!! :p :D
Anyway, the game starts in 5!!!
jack_the_rippuh 01-23-2005, 06:30 PM McNabb KO's Vick in the 4th...overhand right!!!!!
tracylee 01-23-2005, 06:33 PM McNabb KO's Vick in the 4th...overhand right!!!!!
You crazy Jack!! :D Damn, I gotta go, the games on!!
Boxerdog 01-23-2005, 06:40 PM Well I know that Soundtraveler is either en route back home from Memphis or recovering from the trip. I will be sending him 1 million when he is here to bank it. Congrats on the Eagle's victory....and I hope you choke on a pubic hair! :D
SonnyG8R 01-23-2005, 06:49 PM The eagles "d" looks scary with former gators Javon Kearse and Lito Sheppard.
Pittsburgh really needs to shock the Patriots. I'm really tired of hearing how great they are.

youre not the only one that picked the Falcons to win :o But what matters to me is the Steelers arent doing so hot..not at all. Ben's already been picked off a couple of times and it's just not looking too good for them. It's getting a little hard to watch really. Oh well, maybe next year (unless they pull off a miracle tonight) :(
Boxerdog 01-23-2005, 08:23 PM Sorry kid.....there will be NO miracles this night.
Atwa will not be having heterosexual thoughts and the Steelers will NOT be mounting a come-back.

Apparently...Guess I need to go finish watching the game..dont really want to :( Man, what a bummer!

Goddamn you're ignorant.

Man, were you right about that!! They got it together quite a bit in the second half, but ran out of time :( but thats alright, I'm still proud of them for making it to the playoffs with a rookie at the helm, and like I posted a week or so ago, next season Ben wont be quite a green so LOOK OUT!! They should have another great season.
Naturally I'm rooting for Philly in the bowl game :D
Boxerdog 01-23-2005, 10:56 PM The Pats just beat the best team from Pa. by FAR!
McChoke and company don't have a prayer.

I was only rooting to the steelers because Ben Roethlisberger was a local guy playing his college ball at Miami. But after that chock ass preformence he put on today I don't think I will still claim him.

He looked like a rookie today. There's a reason no rookie has ever led their team to the Super Bowl. The post season is a whole different ball of wax.

i wanted the steelers to win but like i said before i didnt think a rookie could win the superbowl. i thought they might win todays game because the steelers were playing well as a team but just too many mistakes.
Floydmayweather 01-24-2005, 12:03 AM I hate New England but they are just very tough to beat. I hope the Eagles can pull an upset.
dodge 01-24-2005, 12:28 AM Bellicheck for president!
Boxerdog 01-24-2005, 01:13 AM Bellicheck for president!
And this Feb 6th he will best Lombardi's post-season record.
Hell of a coach!
dodge 01-24-2005, 03:57 AM And this Feb 6th he will best Lombardi's post-season record.

Yes he is. The guy is a genius.
jack_the_rippuh 01-24-2005, 11:22 AM I hope he doesn't break Lombardi's post-season record..
I don't want to see that record get broken..
SonnyG8R 01-24-2005, 11:37 AM Belichick certainly has made all the right moves since taking over an organization that Bill Parcells revived from the ashes.
I won't call him the best though. He wasn't very impressive in Cleveland all those years.
Parcells took over the Giants when they were the worst team in the league and won them 2 super bowls. Then he took over the patriots when they were the worst team in the league and brought them to the super bowl. Then he took over the jets when they were the worst team in the league at 1-15and brought them to the playoffs in his first season improving them to 9-7 and then 12-4 in his second year. Then he took over the Cowboys when they were one of the worst franchises in the league and brought them from 5-11 the year before to 10-6 in his first season.
I give Parcells the nod over Bellichick.
Soundtraveler 01-24-2005, 11:47 AM Well, Superman Vick got hit with that green Krytonite from the Eagles' Defense, I had hoped it would have been closer. Dome teams just don't have a chance in cold weather it seems.
Oh well, I am really looking forward to the Superbowl matchup, it should be a great game, and I do believe the Eagles might just win it. They seem to be peaking at just the right time.

Yeah, I had to TIVO them both, I am impressed with both the winners, it should be a great game!
It was cold as a well diggers ass in Memphis this weekend, and the wind was blowing at about 40 mph making the wind chill factor in the single digits! I am still horse in the voice and sounded like crap for the fights, but hell, I had the friggin' flu and a cold for the last 3 weeks!
