There is no way Gatti could have understood anything Pernell was shouting. It's hard enough to understand him when he is talking at a normal level.

yeah i was thinkin that. It would be pretty tough to hear what someone is telling you to do from the 3rd row in the middle of a fight

Unless your Floyd Mayweather, then you can even answer them.

I believe he was trying to get a confirmation from Gatti that before the fight he was in fact able to hook up a little blow.

Ya see they were in Gatti's backyard and he had most of the "cant miss" hookups.

Thats what I made of it all I could be wrong? I doubt Im wrong.

Pernell was confirming Gatti would lend him 20 bucks after the fight was over.

I know you are joking, but do you respect Whitaker's fighting ability? This guy is one of the most talented ever.

yeah i have tons of respect for what Whitaker did in the ring when he fought. Beating Buddy Mcgirt twice,Dominating the lightweight division then winning titles at 140 and 147

His fights against José Luis Ramírez and Julio César Chávez were awesome also. He was a clown sometimes, but that was part of his entertainment value.

By the way, he won a belt at 154, too.

I knew they were just having some fun. Anyone who has seen prime Whitaker fights knows how good he was.

But honestly do you think he was asking him a question or giving him advice or what did gatti say anything in any post fight interviews?

Some of his most outrageous clowning was against McGirt. I don't remember if it was the first or second fight, but in the last round, Whitaker was like jumping and all that all over the ring.

The one fight that I remember well where I was getting pissed at Whitaker's clowning is when he fought Azumah Nelson. I think that Nelson might have shook him up a bit with a blow and he kept grabbing for his front leg and trying to act stupid to avoid getting hurt and to cover up his embarrassment. Don't get me wrong, he was a great fighter, but sometimes his clowning was actually not only bending the rules in his favor but also a lame attempt to cover his mistakes in the ring.

He had so much physical ability that he sometimes actually looked sloppy IMO be cause he knew he could get away with it.
That ****er was awesome though if you're into slick defensive fighters.

whitaker was a boring fighter..he would go rounds without throwing a significant punch...and he thought he got points for "ducking" shots
