He really couldn't of been.

1988 - imfamously almost stopped by Logan
1989 - imfamously rope-a-doped by Watson
1990 - imfamously defeated by arch-rival Eubank
1991 - held no title at all
1992 - worst performance to date (vs. Malinga, pre-Tibbs)
1993 - rocked by Gent in slugfest, lacklustre vs Eubank
1994 - only fought twice, very lacklustre vs Giminez
1995 - looked worst than ever against Nardiello and Perez

so why didnt u go farther back and post a p4p list with him at #1 if he was there at all.

If Galvano, Piper and Wharton all happened in one year then Benn would definately be one of the best fighters of that year - he was flawless in those fights.. but because he was British, they'd probably throw in Barkley and McClellan ahead of Benn instead

my real concernt here is a serious lack of chris "simply the best" eubank. surely if he was simply the best, he would be one at least one p4p list??

also, i dont get why they have hw's on the list. dont they understand the purpose of the p4p sysmtem??

1990 - left severely hospitalised by Benn
1991 - hardly did anything v Sherry, severely hospitalised from Watson rematch
1992 - looked awful v Malinga, hardly did anything v Thornton
1993 - looked worse than ever against Benn
1994 - brilliant v Rocchigiani/Wharton, hardly did anything v Amaral/Schommer
1995 - retired

If Jarvis, Essett, Rocchigiani and Wharton were all in the same year, Eubank would have to be rated as one of the best fighters of that year. I suppose 1990 is debatable, but he only won two rounds against Benn (round one and round five).

KO Magazine was very kind to Eubank though, he was their boy. They did features on him all the time and referred to him as "the game's great showman".
