Trinidad-Wright Returns To The Forefront!
By G. Leon

Wright: "I'm think me and Trinidad will fight next!"

January 17, 2005 - Undisputed junior middleweight king Ronald "Winky" Wright contacted **********.com after he, his attorney Jim Wilkes and "authorized representative", promoter Gary Shaw spent several hours in Florida meeting with Felix "Tito" Trinidad's promoter Don King last night. Wright explained that some key factors are still being negotiated between King and Shaw, "but I think me and Tito (Trinidad) are going to fight each other next." Both Wright and his attorney Jim Wilkes stated to ********** that they prefer fighting in May or June. "April 9 is probably too close to promote a fight of this magnitude," said Wilkes. Shaw later told ********** he is "cautiously optimistic" that he and King will be able to come to terms shortly, while Wilkes got a bit more specific stating that something should get done in the next 48 hours. We'll continue to keep you updated so stay tuned to our front page for all the latest. Remember Where You Heard It First! (1:40 AM ET)

I'm glad to hear this. I'm sure Winky will get his $5M now and shut up. Now it's up to Tito to show what he's got. I'm sure the fight will take place in May, too. Watch Don King try and make it the same date as Marco Antonio Barrera's fight just to steal PPV numbers from DLH and Hopkins...lol.

No, seriously, I do think it will be in May because the Trinidads have said they prefer that month.

Hopfulley they will announce its official in the next two days, this will be a good fight and in my opinion a test for Trinidad. I say that because Wrights a tall southpaw boxer and Trinidad's the puncher, last time Tito fought a great boxer he lost. Don't get me wrong I think Tito will win but Wright will give him trouble, thats what will make this a great fight.

I think this is a situation where Wright decided it was better to get anything fighting Trinidad than everything fighting nobody.

Wright made the correct decision and I expect a great fight.

I think this one qualifies as a superfight, given Wright's titles and recent big victories. Tito's stature goes without saying.

First we get Paq-Morales and now this. Shaping up to be a good year.

By the way, Tito UD12, only cause Wright will dance around the ring the last few rounds once he knows he's been licked.

I don't think Winky is that great of a "boxer". He usually stands in one place, has an excellent jab and a straight left that no one sees (the left of a southpaw is pretty invisible to most orthodox fighters I find. He has very sound basic skills but I don't think he can keep with a puncher like Tito. I saw Mosley connect with a lot of lefthooks, now if it was Tito throwing those, he's bound to feel it a lot more!

Thats a good point Trinidad's left hooks are going to hurt alot more thatn Mosley did,Mosley did connect with big lefts.

The Trinidad camp is offering less now because this is one of the fights they think Trinidad could lose? Where did you come up with that one? The most probable answer is because they are no longer willing to pay Wright as much for the fight. If they were afraid of Trinidad losing then the offer wouldn't have been made at all.

When Trinidad lands his bomb, it will be over. I say as early as round 4.
