If you had to pick just ten fights to represent the best of Ali, which would you pick?

Obviously you'd have to have The Rumble in the Jungle and his win over Sonny Liston (the rematch though?) and Frazier III (plus I?)

Then I'd say the first and last Ken Norton bouts, plus Cleveland Williams.

You know one of my favourites though? The second Jerry Quarry fight. All the goofing around, and his causing a near-riot afterwards. Love it to bits! A ***** fight for me, that one!

The greatest/key fight Ali won was against the media, thats the reason people call him the greatest.

In no particular order:

1. Ali Vs. Liston I
2. Ali Vs. Foreman
3. Ali Vs. Frazier
4. Ali Vs. Norton II
5. Ali Vs. Frazier III
6. Ali Vs. Cooper
7. Ali Vs. Norton
8. Ali Vs. Patterson
9. Ali Vs. Spinks II
10. Ali Vs. Williams

I'm sure I forgot some of them that belong in the top ten but I can't remember right now. Anorak what happpened to your comedy threads? Why are you serious now? Just curious. :D

1.Foreman(This is one of the biggest upsets in HW history. Foreman easily destroyed both Frazier and Norton a couple of fights earlier and nobody thought Ali had a chance of beating Foreman

2.Liston(Ali did the unthinkable and beated the greatest HW at the time)

3.Frazier(even though Ali lost he earned a lot of respect for puttin on a great show.

3.Norton(Fighting with a broken jaw showed that Ali has one of the biggest hearts in boxing.)

4.Frazier3
5.Spinks2(Ali was shot and way past his prime but he able to woop Spinks and reclaim the title for a third time.
6.Norton2
7.Floyd Patterson
8.Ernie Terrell
9.Oscar Bonavia(I think he is the only man to knock him out)
10.Henry Cooper(Ali got knocked down but he got up from the canvas and went on to win.

Anorak what happpened to your comedy threads? Why are you serious now? Just curious. :DI got the feeling Rick doesn't like them but he never tells me if i'm doing anything wrong.

I just mean some stuff to put a smile on people's faces but there was a pointed reference to people "stickying nonsense threads" in the boxing forum. The only thing that fitted this category was my Glen Johnson Walnut Head one. If I was doing some wrong then I'd like to know where I stand, but if I sent Rick a PM I don't get a reply.

The other one was "Could I knock out Wladimir Klitschko?" - it got deleted. Personally I couldn't see the harm and it WAS a relevant point. I mean, could I?!!?

i thought they were pretty funny and so did a lot of people. I wonder if you can do those comedy boxing threads in the lounge, maybe they won't get deleted there. slick hook has that boxing poems thread in the lounge and it's been there for a while.

I think anything goes in the lounge except the usual race and family abuse.

I have seen a lot of semi boxing subjects.

My favorite 10 Greatest Ali fights:
1. Rumble in the Jungle
2. Thrilla in Manila
3. Frazier I
4. Liston I
5. Quarry II
6. Shavers
7. Cleveland Williams
8. Norton III
9. Henry Cooper
10. Spinks II
What this told me is Ali's ability to gear toward each fight and do what he needed to do.

I guess the real point of this thread was has anyone seen Quarry II? I love when Foreman comes into the ring at the start and Ali walks over the other side to refuse to shake his hand.
