EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Fox Sports turned down Vikings owner Red McCombs’ request to remove play-by-play announcer Joe Buck from Sunday’s game at Philadelphia over his criticism of Randy Moss.

After Moss caught a touchdown pass in last weekend’s win at Green Bay, the wide receiver celebrated by pretending to pull down his pants and moon Packers fans. Buck immediately called it a “disgusting act.”

McCombs said that statement was out of line. A two-sentence news release issued by the team said McCombs felt Buck’s comments “suggested a prejudice that surpassed objective reporting.”

Dan Bell, a Fox spokesman, said Wednesday the network has “no intention whatsoever” of removing Buck.

Buck, during an interview on Sporting News Radio earlier this week, stood by his criticism.

“I have nothing against Randy Moss,” Buck said. “I don’t even know the guy. I just know that with the history that he’s had, and coming off that game at Washington, it was just stunning to see that.”

Moss walked off the field in frustration while his teammates lined up for an onside kick with 2 seconds left the previous week in a 21-18 loss to the Redskins.

three cheers for Joe Buck. Moss can act like an idiot and say stupid things, but Buck can't speak the truth? Who is the hypocite again?

Joe Buck is in Budweiser commercials that glorify an arrogant athelete much like Randy Moss. He is part of a network that's made its fortune off of bathroom humour. He is part of a sports show that prides itself on immature behaviour.

To answer your question...Joe Buck is the hypocrite.

you might be right , they both are hypocrites. The commercial makes fun of those athletes. I will agree about all networks being hard to take. It's hard to watch games on TV with my sons when all they see are Beer commercials and Bikinis. Regardless of that, what Buck said was accurate.

Moss gets payed to play footbal. Buck is getting payed to comment and analyze a game objectivly. I'm not sure if Moss knew what kind of reaction he'd get but I'm certain that Buck was totally aware of what he was saying. And would someone please tell what is so disgusting by pretending to pull down ones pants?

I still think he overreacted, though it's not like I'm any fan of Moss. I usually like that Buck-Aikman-Collinsworth broadcast team but Buck should definitely have been more objective. Fact is the whole Fox team was cheering for Green Bay and looked devastated when they lost. They all kiss Favre's ass so much it makes me sick.

Thing is, how would you feel is you were a Vikings fan knowing that the people that will cover the game are cheering against you? I think that was the point the owner was trying to make.

personally, I wasn't too upset about the act. I think I'm more tired of the modern athlete that has to promote himself and the lack of class it shows. What ever happened to humility?

I want Marcus Allen and Jim Brown types who score and hand the ball to the official and run to the sidelines. Show some class and dignity. Not just Moss, but evryone who rips a cell phnoe out in the endzone, etc.

Agreed. If you ever read an interview for an old SI or something with a superstar from the 50s or 60s, it's unbelievable how much more humble they are then today's egomaniacs. I remember a piece where Roger Maris said that money wasn't all that important to him. How many guys now would say that?

Any one of them if you'd pay them right for the interview. :D

Oh, I don't know - let's see, you pay some idiot 99 million dollars, sell the hell out of merchandise, of which he gets a cut, bringing him to around 150 million dollars a year - and he can't wait until the game is over before he leaves the field.

Then he turns around and does some kind of sudo "mooning" of the very fans that pay the money and fill the stands that allows him to get paid more than his entire family tree is worth.

As for Joe Buck, what he actually did was think quick and cover the ass of the network he works for - the Superbowl taught him that. After Janet Jackson's nipple ring, sports on t.v. will never be the same, and now the idiot with the 150 million dollar a year bank account can't wait to set a bad example for the kids who want to "be like Randy" - he needs to be ***** slapped - and I swear if he were standing in front of me I would do it with a quickness. Randy Moss is a prime example of the difference between a black man and a common hood rat, see the black people in New Orleans have respect for themselves and others around them, but the ghetto rats around here act like Randy Moss and walk around with their pants hanging down to their knees so everyone can see their dumb ass....

Here's hoping that Moss reaches for a pass this Sunday....& either Brian Dawkins or Michael Lewis (bad-ass hitting machine) is waiting, ready to launch into him.

To see Moss sprawled out, & taken out....is a sports fan's dream come true.

from what i heard its a packer tradition for pack fans to moon the visiting team as they arrive. and moss was just returning the favor, without even pulling down his pants. since when is a fake mooning such a big deal? hell even a real mooning is something people laugh at and dont really take offense to . people need to get over it .

Colts coach Tony Dungy mentioned this. He said he saw it all the time when he was with the Vikes.

Funny thing is that the NFL is being really quiet about this incident. I think they know that they'll be called out as hypocrites if they make to big a deal of this, given all the T&A their sponsors show.

It becomes a ****sucker move when it's done by the biggest ****sucker in the history of sports.

Randy Moss is a walking pile of ****. Everything he does, is ****.

what has randy moss done that is so bad? seriously, lets put a camera on your life 24/7. watch you be an ahole now and then and have the whole world say youre the worst person on the planet. not saying he is a saint or anything like that but who are we to judge other men, just look at your own lives most are probably doing much worse **** than randy moss is doing.

joe buck whorring out alcohol ads during a family sport is worse than anything moss has done during a game imo.

It killed me too how Buck said he would have pulled Moss out of this game for the incident last week. Like coaches should be more concerend about the moral characters of their teams then about winning. What so he's going to teach him a lesson by having the rest of the team suffer for not having their best player in? Give me a break, Joe. Jimmy Johnson at least is smart enough to know that you have to take the good with the bad in these kinds of cases.

It really makes me sick to know that the broadcasters are pulling for the other team against us, but I am used to it. The fact is that the Vikings have brought a lot of this negativity on their selves. The only thing we can do about it now is win! But we never do! :(

It's not just about incidents...
It's the way Moss carries himself. He is just as unlikable a celebrity that has ever existed.

I want to see him maimed on a football field.
I want to see his career ended on a football field.

Thing is Moss know's he the bad guy, so what's he going to do, play nice now? Start shedding tears and telling everyone how sorry he is. How would you feel is everyone in the media was attacking you? The last thing you'd probably do is start handing out apology letters.

Look, I'm not trying to defend the guy or anything. Obviosuly he's a jerk. But now that he's being called out on it he's going to play his role until the media gets tired of it.

No, I got it - the next time he screws up, he doesn't get fined, instead he has to make a donation, and since he doesn't write checks he will have to deliver the cash donation to the organization in person!

Then have him take the $10,000 donation to the next KKK rally in Georgia in person.
