View Full Version : one punch ko classics
xaviant 01-13-2005, 05:39 AM just wanted some feedback on who thinks are the illest one punch knockouts in history....
sugar ray robinson vs rocky graziano
after getting knocked down sugar ray gets up to rip a right cross in savage fashion...rock's mouthpiece goes flyinh to the third row and it's all over as the ref counts to ten...when he finally realises what happens he starts to beat on the ringpost in anger and disgust....ill stuff
roberto duran vs thomas hearnes
hearnes was already bombing on duran in the first round but after a clean break in the second tommy landed a clean right to the jaw...you could hear the crunch and had to laugh as you saw roberto's eyes go out as he fell face forward to the canvas
a pretty insane scene considering he gave narvin hagler all he could handle for 15 rounds
other classics include mike mccallum's nasty left hook vs donald curry and any other readers views!
Julian Jackson vs Herol Graham.
Jackson, behind early, cut, unleashes a devastating right in the 4th. Graham is out before he hits the canvas and remains on his back for five minutes.
tikal 01-13-2005, 07:25 AM Mike Tyson vs Carl Williams
Soon as the fight started Tyson hit Williams with a devestatin body shot that echoed through the whole arena and lifted Williams off his feet.

Beat me to it :D That gets my vote.
Beat me to it :D That gets my vote.
Power alone does not "cut it", you also need SPEED ;) :D

I would tend to agree though Big George might tell you different ;)
barryboy 01-13-2005, 07:46 AM Wayne Alexander's ko of Takaloo was a recent classic.
Alexander was hurt by a body shot, backing up quickly, Takaloo chasing him, goes onto the attack, then bang, no chance of beating the count.
jabsRstiff 01-13-2005, 08:20 AM Mike Tyson vs Carl Williams
Soon as the fight started Tyson hit Williams with a devestatin body shot that echoed through the whole arena and lifted Williams off his feet.
He finished Williams with a left hook to the jaw.
He nailed Williams, who dropped, but then rose.
The stoppage was somewhat controversial.
Michael Spinks KO4 Marvin Johnson :
Johnson was backing Spinks up for the majority of the 4 rounds. Backing him up, & catching him with left hands from his lefty stance.
Suddenly Spinks delivers the most perfectly executed left hook/uppercut into Johnson's jaw...& knocks him out cold.
I would tend to agree though Big George might tell you different ;)
:D ..good one...
..But a big chance George will only tell me to buy a George Foreman Knock-Out-The-Fat Barbecue. ;)

Toller 01-14-2005, 12:13 PM Wayne Alexander's ko of Takaloo was a recent classic.
Yeah that was a sickening punch.
Loads from Tyson - The right hand that KO'd Michael Johnson comes tom mind.
One of my favourite KOs is from last year - Carl Thompson vs Rothman. Thompson was on the ropes getting pounded, Rothman grinnning all the time, fight close to being stopped, then boom, a huge right hand and good night Rothmann
cmason 01-14-2005, 12:16 PM jersey joe walcott knocking out ezzard charles with one left hook is my favourite.
Toller 01-14-2005, 12:29 PM Angel Torres's 3 second KO of Gabriel Krizan was sick. Krizan left the ring on a stretcher and was off for a stay in hospital. That was such a cheapshot, I don't like it at all.

is that the one where the opening bell sounds and out come the two fighters one wanting the shake golves and the other wanting to kill. 1st shot and he Ko's the other fighter
Toller 01-14-2005, 01:09 PM Yeah that's the one
dustymoo 01-14-2005, 01:11 PM Gotta be Jackson's against Bomber Graham for me.
chingon28 01-14-2005, 01:21 PM robbie peden against nate campell. nate was giving robbie all he could handle when he got smart and put his hands down. peden hit with a solid shot and knocked nate's lights out. not a all time great but it was still tight.
Solo322 01-14-2005, 02:50 PM Jones vs Art Serwano, first round, Jones lands a right over the top and Serwano just goes stiff and topples over his right foot, eyes all open and whatever. Pretty insane
Mr. Ryan 01-14-2005, 03:06 PM My short list:
1. Vincent Pettway KO6 Simon Brown
2. Roy Jones Jr. KO4 Virgil Hill
3. Mike McCallum KO5 Donald Curry
4. Ray Robinson KO5 Gene Fullmer
1. I saw this KO, that **** was ridiculous. Pettway was down in the 5th, and was very angry about that. Pettway misses with a right hand, then blasts Brown with a left hook, knocking him cold. While on the floor, Brown starts doing some crazy **** with his hands, like he's trying to jab the air or something.
2. Roy Jones was thoroughly in control when he throws a jab, then comes under with a brutal right hand to the body that breaks a couple of Hill's ribs. That was Hills' first KO loss.
3. Donald Curry was ahead on all the cards going into the fifth, using his advantages in speed and skill to outbox the tough McCallum. Out of nowhere, McCallum misses with a right hand, but lands a brutal left hook to effectively end Donald Curry's reign as a p4p contendor.
4. Ray Robinson was well past his prime by then, and Fullmer had just come off of a 14th round stoppage of Carmen Basilio. Fullmer was the favorite here, and was backing the vastyly talented Robinson up. All of a sudden, Robinson lands a short, hard, left hook-uppercut hybrid shot and knocks Fullmer cold. Fullmer reawakens in his corner and sees Robinson jumping up and down. He asks his corner man "Why is Robinson exercising between rounds." His trainer tells him "The fight is over."
gwenstefani 01-14-2005, 03:22 PM Peter vs Williams!
I know thats not classic but it kicked ass!
My fav one punch ko has to be tyson vs botha. I dont know why,,but tysons form was beautiful. He used his body weight and timing perfect.
Ans as far as my favorite knockdown? Ike vs Byrd! Thats the hardest punch I have EVER seen!! If you havnt seen it you have to.
Mr. Ryan 01-14-2005, 03:23 PM Marciano KO13 Walcott. Possibly the hardest punch in boxing history.
Toller 01-14-2005, 03:27 PM That is a huge knockout
!!Captain 01-14-2005, 03:44 PM How about Samuel Peter KO of Jeremy Williams. That was brutal
Truth 01-14-2005, 10:30 PM Not sure if this is a classic but Tyson vs. Botha ended with a great one punch KO.
damonbleed 01-15-2005, 02:10 AM Tyson vs Etienne. That was a pretty nice ko. How come no one has Jones vs TarverII. For shock value alone it has to be up there.
