Ok guys I'm looking for unbiased opinions here. I dont remember too much about this battle when it happened but Ive heard Ether and it was bad ass. With that being said though my friends said that Jay-Z went on the radios in studio in NY and would rap live and rip up Nas. Jay-Z said anyone can write a song but the great ones do it off the top of their heads freestyle. I also heard that Jay-Z challenged Nas to a two million dollar winner take all rap battle and Nas never got back to him. So I guess my question is who do you guys really think won this battle and what would happen if they ever battled freestyle. Im a big Nas fan but I think JayZ would rip him up.

I think Nas one because Ether was a better song but I still think Jay-Z would rip him up in a freestyle.

Nas cooked Jay-Z like I cooked bacon for my BLT a couple hours ago. Takeover was a good diss, but Ether was sickening. Super Ugly was unimpressive aside from the Jay ****ing Nas' baby's mother, which has nothing to do with rhyme skills.

Nas IMO......but I like how they both handled it overall too.

After Nas released ether, Jay-z was at hot97 all shook up from ether. He literally starting crying in the interview. Nas killed Jay-z mentally and emotionally.

I don't even like Jay Z....at all!

Ether was a nice diss but it didn't come close to ending Jay-Z's career like most people like to claim. Jay-z's albums after Ether were better than Nas' albums after Ether in my opinion.

I also believe any type of Ether 2 will not come close to the original because even Nas admitted himself that the battle took alot out of him. So don't expect the hyped up Ether 2 to come anywhere close to the original.

you Jay-z stan. I don't have the audio cuz its been like 4 years since it happened, but you could probably find it in limewire or kazza. But here's a link when ppl were discussing about jay's defeat and him emotionally hurt in hot 97 after he heard ether.
