Mike Tyson was fast and hard-hitting, and he looked awesome in his prime. He would jump right after Joe Louis from the get go, looking for that early knock out. He wouldn't find it though.

Joe Louis was by far the better fighter of the two. With his tremendous skill, he would easily tie up Tyson early on and counter him with jolting shots. By the end of round 5, I see Tyson tirering rapidly with his eyes swollen and blood dripping. By now, we would once again stand witness to Tysons heart (or should I say lack there of) as he would be reduced to a desperate one punch fighter.

Louis would be in total control, blocking, countering and ripping Tyson to shreds. Inside of ten rounds, Tyson goes down for keeps. It wouldn't even be close.

again, if you go by all of tyson's losses besides holyfield, they all were bigger than tyson. douglass was 230+, lewis was like 250+, williams was 270+, and mcbride was 260+. louis is about 200 at the most, and tyson is 220, so no way louis would beat him. tyson never quit when rooney was in his corner. rooney would make him fight on. however, that would not matter, cause tyson is faster, stronger, and more skilled, so tyson wins in no more than 4 rounds, if louis is lucky.

While most of us agree that this fight wouldn't likely go the distance, we seem to be stuck on the sentimental reasoning. Tyson from 1986-1988 was in his prime (anything else after that he forgot how to fight without Kevin Rooney). So my argument is while Louis possesses better skill, Tyson bobs and weaves trying to negate Louis' jabs and combos. Tyson occasionally lands combos of his own, instead of the one-punch KO he relied on after he split with Rooney. Louis weathers these in the first few rounds, and along the way is landing combos of his own. A fighter fighting back has been Tyson's downfall. Louis' boxing skills and ability to fire combinations equivalent to those of Tyson's has Tyson in trouble midway in the fight. Unable to intimidate and outpunch or outbox his opponent, Tyson is TKOed in about 6-7 rounds, but only after absorbing many, many clean shots from Louis.
