I'd give it to Liston.

I don't think Rubin Carter would stand a chance. He was not a great fighter, and lost 12 of his 40 fights. Sonny Liston on the other hand, was very skilled, carried a killer punch, and possibly the best left jab in the business. Carter had a tough chin though, so p4p, I guess he could hang around until the later rounds.

Sonny Liston by tko11.

its not about them fighting eachother the poll is about who had more skills p4p. voting for liston is stupid on this one. hurrican was a far better boxer.

Carter is overrated because of his story.

He lost 12 fights, out of only about 40 fights. He beat Emile Griffith - good win - but lost his shot at the title, lost to Dick Tiger...plus - lost to some second rate opposition.

Liston would destroy him - TKO 4.

Why is Carter better P4P? He weighed alomst 60 pounds lighter than Liston? Liston could hit like a truck, had decent speed, an ATG jab, nice body shots - not to mention his intimidation skills. Liston was P4P better.

Liston was a great heavyweight but Carter was one of the most dangerous middleweights who ever lived. Fluid, quick, and extremely powerful with his punches. He was not a fine boxer but rather a very aggresive two fisted puncher. Liston could really hit and is an underrated athlete but Carter was an animal in there. As he was quoted as saying himself, he must have set some kind of record for knocking opponents through the ropes and out of the ring. He was a relentless and underrated puncher. P4P he is close to Liston in punching power.

Hard to say but it would be a barnburner. A hell of a P4P fight.
