Apparently Baer had a broken right hand during that fight so he can be forgiven for looking stupid.

I still say Marciano by a mid round KO though.

baer is has height reach and weight on marciano, he also has scary right hand power and a decent chin, however he wasnt the kind who trained seriously, and his heart was questionable, i say rock by ko in 10.

Max Baer was big and strong, and also had some skill to go with his size and power. Against Rocky Marciano he would be in trouble how ever. Baers stamina was never that great, even when properly prepared, and I see Marciano slowly taking control of the fight, picking Baer apart and stopping him late.

nope its true, ive just finished reading cinderella man.

He killed one in the ring I believe and fatally injured another (the opponent when on and fought one more fight but the injuries from Baer are what killed him).

atleast they blame baer, if i remeber correctly baer koed some dude who died after one weak punch by carnera in his next fight.

this is the reason why baer never again punched again at full power,(if you belive jeremy schaap(author of cinderellaman).

The Freddie Richmond fight was the one that ruined Baer.

Bear had a lethal right hand, Marciano had an even better right hand.

Baer didn't have no Suzie Q.

Marciano by late round stoppage in a very hard fight. He'd hammer Max to the head and body until Baer would eventually fold and stay down in the late rounds.

Make no mistake about it, Baer had the power to hurt Marciano, especially with the right. Aside from the power Baer had one of the all time great heavyweight chins and a lot of natural stamina for his size. Watch the Schmeling fight if you aren't sold of Baer's fitness. When he was motivated and in shape he was a very dangerous relentless slugger who was very difficult to put down, let alone out.

I really would not be shocked if Baer knocked Marciano out. Tough fight for Marciano beause of Baer's size, durability, and stamina. I do not see Marciano winning by a clean knockdown. If anything he'll send Baer to the canvas a few times before the big oaf decides it isn't worth it.

Baer wasn't difficult to outbox and outbjab but in a slugfest he was a beast.

baer is a very legite dangerous opponent for anyone. he had amazing power and a granite chin not to mention fast handspeed. he had the size 6'3 210lb and reach 81".

however even on his best day, baer lacked proper tecnique and skills. marciano was defintley more skilled than baer. In Rocky's fights he cuts off the ring and feints his way inside. He slips and parries jabs, and uses head movement when fighting at mid range. He keeps his gloves high at long range, feeling and gradually working his way in. He knew how to alternate between body and head, and knew how to neutralize a man in a clinch. He was a smart fighter.


baer on the other hand threw wide punches with poor technique leaving himself wide open. in this matchup, i favor marciano's shorter punches over baer's wide haymakers. marciano would get inside baers long swings and land his crunching shorter blows. marcianos leaping left hook and uppercut would be a big punch to use in this fight. marciano knew how to punch from the crouch, and marciano will find he will be able to nail baer very easily from that position since baer always kept his gaurd down and didnt have any movement. it will be like a stationary target.

baer had a very good chin and it would be tough, but joe louis was able to finish off max and i have no doubt marciano will be able to as well. once baer starts to handle marcianos power and pressure like he did louis, he will give up much like he did in the louis fight.
