jabsRstiff 01-12-2005, 07:58 AM ....should Pacquiao be soundly beaten by Morales.
There are so many Pac supporters who don't really give a damn about boxing outside of their hero.
He brought them here, & he'll take them away.
nelsoncm 01-12-2005, 08:32 AM We'll see about that after Pac-EM. Can't blame an exciting fighter to have lots of followers.
Good thing is, the guy ignited a lot of interest in boxing. JMM despite being a long time champion never did.
jabsRstiff 01-12-2005, 08:38 AM That's one stupid conclusion.
Oh really ?
Look at this board.....look at all the Pacquiao-related posts/threads. Look at the Pac supporters posting them....then go look through the threads not related to Pacquiao, & see how many of the Pac supporters are posting in them. Not many.
Now....if it's a "Who's the Hardest Hitter" type of thread...you'll see a Pac fan in there, listing Pacquiao. That kind of thread/post doesn't count.

Pacquiao deserves a big fan base. He is super-exciting, & terribly ambitious.
But, there are many posters on here who will not be so interested in boxing if he (or another Filipino superstar) is no longer worthy of the big time.
Marjoh 01-12-2005, 08:51 AM This is usually the case when a big bout is announced or prior to the days, weeks, or even months leading to the big fight, and of course the aftermath. Look at the DLH-Hopkins, Mayorga-Trinidad, V.Klitchko-Williams, Morales-Barrera, Tarver-Johnson, and among others.
And Marquez is no Pacquiao or Morales when it comes in name. Plus one of the thing I notice is most of those thread are usually what I like to call news thread.
And won't it be easier to reply in one post?

.....I seriously doubt we have 3200 Pac fans on here. Besides, the Pac loyalists make the site interesting and diverse. He is an exciting guy who isn't hard to like. Also, he will not lose to Morales so we will not find out anytime soon if your right.
LuKahnLi 01-12-2005, 09:31 AM Yeah there was like 5 different threads talking about Morales-Pacquaio?

I would agree on that. But he has certainly opened the eyes of a lot of his countrymen to big-time boxing. There are loads of Asian talent but they never get the big shot. Add to that the Internet boom on this side of the world, we now get to own a full fight, including the most recent ones.
Imagine I had to wait more than 2 decades to relish and get a copy of Ali-Frazier!!!
Marjoh 01-12-2005, 09:51 AM I'm pretty sure that if Mexico has more English speaking fan, there would be a lot more topic regarding Marquez.
Note that the Philippines is the 3rd largest English-speaking nation next to the US and UK.

Pac-Morales is a pretty hot topic everywhere. It will no doubt be a fight of the year candidate and the loser could be heavily pushed back in terms of top billing/top pay in the lower weights.
I think the topics were a lot crazier when Williams was fighting Klitschko.
fist-of-fury 01-12-2005, 10:03 AM That's the way it is, mi amigo. It's called fans idolization (not idolatry!). :D
As long as the idol is there, the fans will be there. And vice-versa. And if the idol happens to be immensely exciting and likeable like Pacman, his fan base and popularity will likely be immense. :p
So the best thing to do is sit, relax and enjoy reading the threads and postings while it lasts. Bon jour!

Yeah....yeah...yeah.....
You guys aren't telling me something I don't already know.
But...the fact is....should Pacquiao lose convincingly, you will see a lot of posters disappear. Even the ones who are REGULAR posters will cease posting.

Yeah, they should wake up to reality, the sooner the better for them.
cmason 01-12-2005, 10:42 AM there are alot of pac fans on this forum, i suspect alot of them are teenagers who are new to boxing. thats no bad thing if through watching pac they watch other fighters and boxing becomes a passion that lasts a lifetime. the downside is when they start to disrespect any boxer pac fights, like morales or jmm, both of whom are world class in their own right and also good to watch. anyone who says morales has no chance and will get knocked out in this fight does'nt really know boxing.

Dude,
Your sig is going to give me a seizure.
Once a fighter gets a fan base of die-hards, the fans will always be there. Even if Ricky Hatton loses to KT, there will still be a country full of supporters that would say that he could beat Cotto, Harris, etc.
JOM'S 01-12-2005, 12:24 PM i am an avid PAC FAN and mark my word I will still be here after PAC-EM fight, and I would even be a EM nuthugger for a week...
its just funny when some boxing geniuses think they know all and judge other fans as a group not as individuals, i guess they are way over their heads and could not see past what they know ...

Never did I say "all" of these Pac people.....just the majority of them.
Anyone who popsts in here frequently can see that so many of the Pac fans are Filipino....& don't post much outside of Pac-related threads/talk.
For you to deny this, you're not only an idiot, but a defensive one at that.
to elaborate on what jabsr touched on ...
there are a bunch of knowledgeable boxing fans from what i've noticed on this board like m00ks and others that are die-hard pac fans, that post in other non-pac related threads.
the trouble is those obnoxious other fuqq heads that can just post about how much of a god pac is and blaz y blah ... and the **** gets tired quick. those people turned me away from even clicking on a pac thread, cuz it turns into a fuqqen blind love fest ala tito (i'm a tito fan but can't stand those idiots who adore him because hes puerto rican and know **** about the sport).
pac has a whole nation of mango eatin' muuafuqqas backin' him and thats cool as hell, its the idiots who go bashing mexico and downplaying what the mexicans have done in the lighter divisions since pac's arrival that makes us all sick. and yo, i'm puerto rican ... its just respect that a lot of pac fans lack and i'd happily love to see those pac nut-huggers be gone if pac does indeed lose to EM but i personally don't think those ****s are gonna go because i think that pac's gonna win this fight.
the smart pac fans should host a CBT for the stupid pac fans on what boxing is, history and more **** like that.
peace, my bruthas.

I am no blind Pacquiao fan, in fact I'm a frequent critic of Pacquiao. I just don't think that the Pacman fans will leave if Pacquiao loses. If he dies, maybe then. But Pacquiao is already historical, and he will be remembered for years to come.

miron_lang 01-12-2005, 11:30 PM I post on 3 other forums other than PACLAND and here. and guess what? all had this same topic before the barrera fight.
It is very simple, PAC have more fans posting on forums than ANY OTHER FIGHTER. and some of them are very young and reckless. IF a true boxing fan encounters these fans dont ya think he should take it easy, and then enjoy it when at the end he has proven himself to be correct?
e.g
If a new Fan say 'PAC will kill morales', 'Morales dont have a chance' etc etc. Will you as a resident boxing fan reply by saying 'Youre an idiot you dont know the sport' OR
simply post 'Youre mistaken EM will school him' and then wait for the fight to happen and comment.
man if a 4 year old boy slap you, will you retalliate?

you make a very good point here. what i think most people are missing here is that manny is one of only a few ever pinoy boxers to ever be so good and get the big fights....errrr maybe at least try to get them. in most other countries we have several fighters. plus we have several sports where our countrymen excel. i meen seriously, look at how many mexican boxers have been so good and popular. look at all the american fighters. the american fighters are actually ancestorally from all over the world. european fighters have had many. my point is that i can't blame any of these guys for being pac-man nuthuggers. i meen hell its all they have in regards to boxing. sure there are other pinoy fighters, but none at the moment that are the caliber manny is. it did at first bother me that more than 80% of the pac fans only talked about pac...then i got to thinking. maybe they will branch out and see other fighters for thier talents as well. hopefully they stay with boxing and mature with it. i like fighters from all over the world. tito-p.r. mab-mexico vitali&wlad-ukraine kostya-russia/australia. interesting that none of my top fighters are not from the u.s. at the moment.

Good point and i got it. I admit that the philippines is nowhere near the top countries that produces a number of champions. BUT we also have a rich prizefighting history dating back from the early 1900's.
When i started watching this sport. There's not many but we always have a Legit champion. From Rolando Navarrete to dodie boy Penalosa, Luisito Espinosa, Gerry Penalosa and PACMAN, These guys are within TOP 3 to 5 in their division.
PLUS guys that was able to win an Alphabet belt like Rolando Pascua, Rolando Bohol, Malcolm Tunacao and a few others that i cant remember now( Boxrec Fighter search is down :D )
Not mentioning the Legends. Pancho Villa(Francisco Guilledo), Gabriel Flash Elorde and Cererino Garcia.
PACMAN is not the only one we have. We have some before and we could have more in the future (I hope :o ).

don't sound too judgemental...it doesn't necessarily mean thet newbies on this board are ignorant in boxing. and even if most of them do, i think it's good for boxing in general because pac's exciting style help rekindle boxing interest to a wide audience, not only in the philippines but asia.

Hahaha!!!! You know TL, I was laughing after writing this post yesterday. Then, I notice that I wrote power shot so I inserted d between w and e to come up with powder shot to make the confusion complete. Basically, my subliminal message is that, I'm still with my homey pacman no matter what happen. Forget about the rape thing I put it there as nonsense.
My belief is that in this fight anything can happen and as much as boxing is a game of skills , there is also the element of luck- lucky punch my dear. In the skill department, I give EM the slight advantage, but in the luck department, I hope EM will not be wreckless and engage pacman into mano a mano all hell break loose style even unconsciously because one well timed lucky punch might bring him to the canvass for good and that would be the end for him. Of course EM carry powers with both fists but MAB just brushed them off. You know what I'm saying?

no disrespect pareng kadyo but i don't really believe in lucky punch unless the one throwing it has his eyes shut. ko punch is a skill attained thru diligent training and ring experience. it is achieved by a fighter's excellent reflexes, proper balance transfer, correct hip pivot and adequate follow through.
jabsRstiff 01-14-2005, 07:34 AM Whatever you say bro. Are saying in effect that you will leave if EM lose? Otherwise it would be unfair. What do you think?
No.....for two reasons.
First = I'm a boxing fan. I've watched all of my favorites lose at one point or another.
Second = I'm not a Morales fan. I'll probably root for Pacquiao when they fight.
jabsRstiff 01-14-2005, 07:36 AM don't sound too judgemental...it doesn't necessarily mean thet newbies on this board are ignorant in boxing. and even if most of them do, i think it's good for boxing in general because pac's exciting style help rekindle boxing interest to a wide audience, not only in the philippines but asia.
...and by the way, the last time i checked you didn't own this site...so stfu!
Idiot, where do I say anything about if Pacquiao loses....I'd KICK OUT HIS FANS ?
No where ! I'm not telling anyway what to do....just telling you all how it is.
Should he lose to Morales, in convincing fashion.....so many of these "Pinoy" posters will jet.

personally i think it would take more than one loss to morales. maybe if morales jmm mab and injin chi all beat pack in dominating fashion and there is no other pinoy pugilist is around then i see it a possiblity. but i hate to break it to ya....i don't see that happening. pac ain't gonna be easy for anyone in the game right now.

"Hate to break it to ya"
You're assuming I'm anti-Pacquiao.
I think the dude is a tremendous fighter....& I wish the game was filled with fighters like him.
Believe me, with the way a lot ( "a lot", not "all") of the Pinoy-ers boastfully talk....they will disappear should Pac lose.
They will be absolutely devastated.
I saw it when Trinidad lost to Hopkins.

whatever i said that made you think that i thought you were anti-pac you must have taken wrong. i don't see where you could have gotten that. anyway, that is not the case. most people are not anti-pac. you, like me are prolly more pro pac/anti-pacfan. and not all pac fans. you know the ones i'm talking about i'm sure.

moron, where did i say, if pac loses, you would kick out his fans? you made it sound that that the reason pac is on this thread is coz of pacfans who don't care about nothing but pac? sorry to tell you, pac is a boxing news now, so believe it or not people are gonna be talking him on boards like this whether he loses or not. only 1 convincing win is enough for a great fighter to comeback in the scene (that is if he loses but i doubt it).
by the way, boxingscene has a philippine based staff writer nathanielz, so unless bs fires him boxing news from that country are gonna find their way here for people to discuss.
JOM'S 01-14-2005, 09:06 AM Never did I say "all" of these Pac people.....just the majority of them.

For you to deny this, you're not only an idiot, but a defensive one at that.
i am not denying anything about Filipino Pac Fans, I am one of them, but it's arrogantly stupid to think that majority of guys like myself would stop posting here when there's no more Pac related Thread or Talk ...
and your giving to much credit the number of PAC FANS here 40%??? do your math buddy ...
jabsRstiff 01-14-2005, 09:59 AM "Arrogantly stupid"
Just calling it like I've seen it.
I saw it before with the numerous Trinidad fans, who lost heart after Tito lost to Hopkins.
The way many of the Pinoy post is incredibly similar to the way the Tito fanatics did.

well if that's how you see it, nobody can change that, i guess only time can show us if you are correct and that will be soon (Mar 19)...
buddy just have to remind you that BS Forum is a great site and offers a lot more than boxing and a lot of guys like myself will keep on coming back here, even after the time of PAC is over ...
Alibata 01-14-2005, 11:57 AM It should be welcomed as boxing needs more fans. Manny's fans just add more fuel to flame. Boxing is a major sport in the Philippines but being so far from publicity fighters in the Philippines and the rest of Asia, for that matter, do not get show cased as much as they should. There is alot of talent there which, because of Manny will open doors. Expect to see the likes of Ray "Boom Boom" Bautista, Mayol, Gorrez, and Suico soon. It will not end with Pacquiao. The door is just opening. Hopefully we will get to see one of these exciting boxers on the undercard.
fist-of-fury 01-14-2005, 01:58 PM If Pacman wins, yes, the Pinoys will be crowding these forums even more to extol Pacman to high heavens! :p
If Pacman loses (and I'm 100% sure he won't), the Pinoys will still be here - to slam Morales to hell!
(He-he, that's just a joke. Morales, MAB & co. are really very nice guys!) :D
Seriously, I'm sure most of the Pinoy posters will still be around whatever the outcome of the fight. Although the postings may no longer be as fiery and terribly plentiful as it is right now.
And the reason for the loyal patronage is that the BS forums are the best in its kind, great for letting steam off and for expressing and exchanging any opinions and ideas under the sun (where else can you find threads on one's nipples, butts...?)
So you non-Pinoys out there, let's take a wisdom from the BEATLES: LET IT BE!
...and enjoy while it lasts!
tracylee 01-14-2005, 02:05 PM Hahaha!!!!
Well, if luck does have anything to do with it at all there's no telling how this will end! Morales just might fight reckless and go toe to toe with Manny cause that's just his style. He has that warrior mentality and usually ends up going to war. That is why I flipped out when someone posted something about "if Erik runs all night" Nothing could be further from the truth, and besides, theres a big difference between 'running' and 'boxing', as in using the ring and your feet ;)

Let me tell you my dear, Pacman is a lucky guy with loads of lucky punches. He KO ledwaba with a lucky punch, KD MAB with a lucky punch, KO Lucero with a lucky punch, KD JMM with a lucky punch, and juct recently KO-oooh so brutal- 3K with a lucky punch. We pinoys are so humble so that we are used to attributing our fate to luck and so I am avoiding as much as possible to say that all these KDs and KOs are due to punching power because by saying so would be the the pinnacle of ****iness.
Am I confusing you again? So to make a longer story short, I'm saying that EM muct fight from the outside in order to win which means closing for the mean time his warrior mentality. That mentality being in the shadow though might come out unconciously and let me repeat, one well timed lucky punch might cut the night short for EM. :D

No you didnt confuse me ;) I for one believe that Manny has alot of power in his left hand, luck or no luck. And most likely Erik will try and go toe to toe with him at first, but after tasting his power will hopefully forget about slugging it out with him..make the proper adjustments and box him. I think that Morales is tough and can take his power but any one person can only take so much so actual BOXING will be necessary..so he wont war with him as much as some of us would like (just my opinion though)

That's what I though that MAB was going to do in their third fight specially after getting a decision in the second fight. And MOrales has teh biggest ego of the three M's. He will try to prove he's stronger because people EXPECT him to be.
Don't let the title fool you, Jersey boy.....I don't have a drop of French blood in me (I hope).
yes you do
Ausralia's population: 20M
Canada's population: 32M
Philippines' population: 80M
so there :)Yeah, but how many of that 80 million speak PROPER english and not "me love you long time english". I think that number will drop dramatically, now I'm not sayin' that every canadian or australian are well spoken. But it's hard for me to fathom this because I've across alot of filipinos who have been in the U.S. for a very long time and still speak the language w/ alot of grammatical errors, much worse than Billy Bob from West Virginia.
JaNnO 01-16-2005, 12:00 AM even minority groups here in the u.s. don't know how to speak proper english...so who cares about proper grammar now. the important thing is they can communicate. also remember that english is only the second language of filipinos. it's still pretty impressive compared to some immigrants here from some neighboring countries, asia and eastern europe.
btw, miron was just telling you the truth...look it up and find it yourself.

I wanted not to reply but something inside me doesn't want to end this little tete a tete of ours unless it is saying you don't reply naymore my dear. i agree. if it wasn't for manny, this is going to be dull... this just shows how much Filipinos support their athlete... and i mean he deserves all the support that we can give him...
ispayder 01-16-2005, 08:09 AM I really hope not...because I do think that Morales will beat Pac, and all of the posters on the Pinoy thread are big fans of Pacs, and friends of mine. I'd miss them if they left the site; you wont find nicer, more respectful posters here. Even if some of them disagree with others opinions, they are never insulting about it and theres always room and a need for posters like that here at this site to balance out the losers that insult others for disagreeing ;)
Gracias Senora Tracy.
I will still be here whether Pacman wins or loses. I just want everybody to know that I am a MAB fan before Pacman came to the featherweight division.

simeraksou 01-16-2005, 03:55 PM Pac is the man! he demands to fight top opposition, regardless if they have a title belt or not. and he's one of the most exciting fighters out there. IF pac loses, the fans won't stop coming. instead, there would be even more interest regarding his comeback fight.
