Did we really need:
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights
From Dusk til Dawn II & III
The Skulls II & III
Dumb and Dumberer
Son of the Mask
Wild Things 2
Someone please make it stop...

Carlitos Way is a classic starting Al Pacino, is about a drug dealer trying to get out of the game

LuKahnLi 01-12-2005, 10:32 AM Certain movies need to be tagged. You know, like how we tag endangered species. We must protect our classics.
Look what happened to Planet of The Apes. If it weren't for Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow, I COULD actually HATE Tim Burton for what he did to that movie.
Did anyone else see Burton's version of Planet of the Apes?
I tried to rip my theater seat out and throw it into the screen, good thing it was bolted down.

I did see it but I never saw the original so I had nothing to compare it against.
neils7147933 01-12-2005, 10:35 AM The original Planet of the Apes is incredible. The remake (or re-vision) was average at best.
Sleepy Hollow sucked ass, too.

Watch the original. Considering the time it was made, it is one of the greatest films from that era. In my opinion it is the greatest Sci-Fi film ever.

jabsRstiff 01-12-2005, 10:45 AM I'm pissed that there's a remake of John Carpenter's "Assault On Precinct 13" coming out soon.
The thing about the original is that it was a low-budget, very simplistic film. It's not a great film, but was at least interesting.
The new one is guaranteed to suck....& will be overdone.

You saw the original??? That is one of my favorites.
Its gonna be completely different from the original. So different you can't really call it a remake. The apocalyptic Gang Takeover from the original is too dated.
jabsRstiff 01-12-2005, 11:04 AM One of my favorite films, & probably the single greatest remake of all time...
is John Carpenter's "The Thing".
That film is brilliant.
jabsRstiff 01-12-2005, 11:48 AM As for the "Carlito's Way" prequel...
I think it's an awesome idea...because I remember how all I could think while watching the first one, was how I needed to know what ol' Carlito was doing prior to what took place in that film.
Now.....years later, I get my answer !

I only counted his movies as a director. And I left out the shorts. James And the Giant Peach was good, too, but his work on it was just as producer.
He had nothing to do with The Goonies.
Other movies he worked on:
The Lord of the Rings (1978) In between artist
The Fox and the Hound - Animator
Tron - Animator
The Black Cauldron - Conceptual Artist
Singles - actor

If you haven't .... SEE IT !!
It was on T.V. last night forchristsakes!
It is one of Pacino's great roles but a barely recognizable Sean Penn is even BETTER as Carlito's slimy attorney. John Leguizzamo is also good in an early smaller role that is pivital to the story.
Please.......NO SPOILERS!

As night falls, all parties coindicently seek shelter in an isolated inn/whorehouse which is run by vampires led by the high priestess Quixtla who targets Esmeralda, since Esmeralda is revealed to be the half-human, half-vampire princess Santanico Pandemonium, whom the vampires want as their heir in which all the humans must join forces if they are to survive the night from the vicious blood-suckers.

thanks Neils..youre always so informative! I'll have to check them out even if theyre terrible just so I'll have covered all the bases; and I'm sure I've seen much worse. when horror is your favorite, and horror is one of the most seldom made films, you just about watch anything they throw at you. :o Thats why the last 6 mo's have amazed me at the number of new horror/suspense/thriller flicks that have come out so close together...there's like 6 or 7 new (some not quite so new anymore ;) ) that I want to see!
Thanks again..and I'll send you karma for that soon as it lets me!

not even close to the originals, but some of the acting was superb. The script was not very good and I thought not enough interesting characters. I will say Pacino was excellent and Garcia's Vincent was great as well. Those two performances alone make it worth watching. There were also a few horrible casting moves made. Sophia Coppala convinced herself and we all now agree that she belongs behind the camera. And it was painful to even think of George Hamilton in a GF movie
anyone remember Vito Anterfermo had a small part in III, as did Marvin Hagler. Hagler's part got left on the cutting room floor. Vito was Joey Zaso's bodyguard.

to each there own. I thought he was outstanding. I liked the whole Sonny's iilegit son plotline.
I think what killed that movie alot as well was the fact that Duvall pulled out last minute. He would have taken up alot of the screen time, and when he pulled out they replaced his character with nothing interesting and that hurt the flow of the picture

I'd like to see that..and if they stick to the original even remotely then it should be very good! I finally got to see "the Grudge" and "Boogeyman"..both are pretty good but the Grudge was the better of the two. The chick in that movie gave me the creeps, big time!
