View Full Version : Pacman, Tyson, Trinidad: Give a fighter a punch and fans think they beat everyone!
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:14 PM It is becoming a theme on this site to constantly big up the likes of Mike Tyson, Manny Pac and Felix Trinidad. Over the last few weeks i have heard stuff like Trinidad is gonna KO Hopkins if they rematch, Mike Tyson is on his way back to the heavyweight title and Manny Pacman is gonna kill/KO whatever Morales!
Only Pacman success is a reasonable judgement ( although i feel Morales will be too seasoned for the chinny Asian ). But i would like to expose a few myths:
Felix Trinidad was beaten up very badly by Bernard Hopkins and then retired because he felt he wasn`t able to win the title in the middleweight division. Hopkins has shown NO signs of age or being shot, as some have stated and Trinidad has shown no signs in his ONE comeback fight that he will be able to haddle Nard. He showed he can be floored by a blown up welterweight and he showed that early blow outs of blown up welters isn`t in his aresenal. Sooner people stop thinking with their personal favorites clouding their judgement, the better.
Mike Tyson lost by 4th rd KO to an average Danny Williams. Yes, he hurt his knee but this is just another sign of age and ring wear. I wouldn`t pick Tyson over Ruiz at this stage and Klitscko would seriously hurt him if they fought. Tyson is finished, he is never going to regain a title and as long as he fights it is just gonna get worse for him.
Pac man, very exciting but check out the KO losses if you get a chance, the straight right hand really makes him look like a limbo dancer!
The point is, these above mentioned fighters are exciting and they usually win by KO but it does not make them invincible. Gone i guess are the days of boxing appreciation, now we are of a mentality of the puncher will win this fight because....he is a puncher. I hope the above fighters lose this year. They`ll be excuses, like the ones for Trinidad. The old and shot Bernard Hopkins beat him because....Tito wasn`t concentrating, he fought the wrong fight, he was sick, Hopkins cheated etc...Try this one, Hopkins beat him because he was the better fighter, he wanted it more and he could deal with Tito`s left hook, the only punch Tito seems to throw. I wish people would start posting opinions not focused on popularity, rather critical analysis and past knowledge of these fighters. Trinidad has never beaten a top middleweight in his career, why is he gonna all of a sudden do what he couldn`t do in the first Nard encounter? Oh, i see..he had the flu, his finger was hurt, it was a bad day, he got confused, his knee was injured, he didn`t eat his luckly charms, etc etc...
jack_the_rippuh 01-11-2005, 09:18 PM You forgot to mention Kostya.
I agree with you for the most part, but Mike Tyson said he is going get his act together and clean out the division.
So that just destroys what you said above about him..
Nothing personal, we all make mistakes..
IwatchBoxing 01-11-2005, 09:20 PM Trinidad KO 1 Hopkins (jk). These guys are great fighters,
and people have faith in them. Tito wont have an easy time with Hopkins, but I feel that he can pull out a win, if anything people arent giveing them a chance that they deserve.
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:26 PM sorry Jack must have missed the info. Well, if Mike Tyson says he is gonna clean up his act and re - dedicate himself to boxing then he is clearly once again the bet heavyweight in the world. i bet Klitscko is sitting at home cringing at the prospect of fighting a prime Mike Tyson. Lots of head movement, footwork, combinations...it`ll be like Cus has come back to life to train the `Iron one`. We must inform the sanctioning bodies of Mike`s recent statement as i`m sure he deserves at least a top three ranking based on this info.

You can't blame the other members here coz those boxers you mentioned still has an aura for boxing fans. We as boxing fans has our own analysis on every boxer we like. And lastly, those boxers are the talk of the world right now. They are the most exciting and fun to watch and they prove it that they are. Let the other members say what they want to say. This is a boxing site and every comment I think is accepted. This what makes this site also exciting coz there are + and - ideas. Peace bro! :)
davico 01-11-2005, 09:27 PM You forgot to mention Kostya.

I would say KT is in more of the Nard category than the others mentioned. KT has very underestimated boxing skills whick if you watch the Tackie fight you might understand
tri4ben2 01-11-2005, 09:29 PM Pac lost because he was dehydrated and could barely make 122.
And the loses at the beginning of his career were when he was pretty much an amature.
Pac is the best fighter ever.
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:31 PM You have a point but i wasn`t claiming that supporting these fighters was a bad thing. I was saying that making predictions like Nard will get ko`d etc and not providing a valid reason as to why ( and i think they should for Hopkins *****ed Tito first time ) is just a form of hyping up your fave fighter, not actually making a contrabution to the thread. If people are gonna state that these fighters are gonna do this and that, and since Tito lost to Hopkins so one sidedly, i think it is compulsory that they state the reasons why, what will be different etc.. Isn`t that fair?
Invader_Stu 01-11-2005, 09:32 PM You forgot to mention Kostya.
KT has great punching power its true, but people dont blindly follow him just because of it. He has an amazing amateur career behind him which showed he really can box. Just because he doesnt usually need to because people eat his big hits, doesnt mean he can't.
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:33 PM Pac is the best fighter ever.
See! This is the kinda bull**** posting i`m on about!
mic573 01-11-2005, 09:34 PM I don't care if Joppy wasn't a great fighter but he was at least the 2nd or 3rd best middleweight at the time. So I say Trinidad has beaten a top middleweight. I'm also tired of people saying Tito retired because he couldn't beat Hopkins. To the best of my knowledge Tito retired because neither Hopkins or Delahoya would give him a rematch then after he retires they suddenly want to try and make the rematch.
As for Mayorga alot of people gave Mayorga a big chance at beating Tito when I first came to this board. Then when Trinidad handles him easily everyone wants to say Mayorga was a blown up welterweight. Of course Mayorga was a blown up welterweight that's why I didn't give him much of a chance but that didn't seem to worry most people who thought Mayorga would knock Tito out.
kadyo 01-11-2005, 09:38 PM Tyson is over.
If you consider Joppy to be not on top during the time he fought Tito then Tito never beaten a top middle weight. I remember that bhop as an analyst during that fight was scouting Tito at the same time. Bhop noticed that Tito wily delivers his vicious laft right after a every clinch , a lesson that served him well because I don't think he was ever hit by a well timed power left hook by Tito during their fight.
As for pac, well what can I say, he is my compatriot and I'm rooting for him. Hey, give the man a chance because he still young and his style is still in the process of evolution ala MAB. Of course EM is an intelligent fighter and he will know what to do against pacman come fight time but his fighting style will also consciously or unconsciously come out come fight time and pac's a well timed straight left will send him dreaming to Thy kingdom come.
jack_the_rippuh 01-11-2005, 09:38 PM Trinidad could have done what lots of fighters do when they can't get a rematch from a champ they want a rematch from...Become a mandatory!!!
mic573 01-11-2005, 09:41 PM Trinidad could have done what lots of fighters do when they can't get a rematch from a champ they want a rematch from...Become a mandatory!!!
Yeah but do you expect a fighter on the level of Trinidad to really do that especially since Hopkins said he would give Tito a rematch at anytime.
kadyo 01-11-2005, 09:41 PM Pac is the best fighter ever.
See! This is the kinda bull**** posting i`m on about!
Don't take seriously kimmy. It was a joke :D

Exactly, good post
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:45 PM But tito didn`t wanna risk losing to a lesser fighter while looking to force a super fight. And in respose to Mic573, true a few people did give Mayorga a shot at Tito before the fight but before and after the fight Mayorga was always a blown up welterweight, bottle of beer in the hand fat clumsy fighter. He had a punch, so he had a chance. If Nard had been fighting Mayorga, how many would have still given him a chance? NONE! Difference is Tito has already been exposed and has shown weaknesses throughout his career. Apart from Roy Jones` win over him and a crusierweight loss in his first fight, Hopkins has never looked like being defeate, hell he doesn`t even lose rounds that often. Still you predict Tito to win huh? I hope Tito doesn`t learn of all this faith people have in him, he`d only retire from boxing again to avoid disappointing you LOL ha ha ha, everyone laugh at Tito Lol ha ha ha!
Hurlex 01-11-2005, 09:46 PM most of the tito fans are in PR and are PR..same goes for manny(are in philipines or are filipino)...but yeah...i dont like it when they put manny as if he could ko tyson..they tlak about him as if he was a god..i like the guy,but he's harcore fans make him hated sometimes...tito is great what can u say(even tho he turned into a ***** in the last 2 years including the retirement crap and waiting for hopkins to get old) but he's good and you cant argue that,i am a tito fan but i doubt he will ever be able to beat hopkins, unless hop gets old.
And tyson will always have fans..even shot tysons power gives him a great chance against anyone to this day...he may only be good for 5rounds...but i am telling you..those 5rounds aint no cake walk

I'm gonna laugh at you HARD if Pac DOES KO Morales. And at current weight, Pac doesn't seem so chinny does he?!?!
Point being is that why does it bother you so much what fans think. That's teh beauty of a forum. You can say what you wish and argue with those you don't agree. Wouln't it be boring if everyone had the same assesment for everyone? On top of it, this hypes fights. The more bad blood and disagreement, the more I wanna see a particular fight. So just sit back, enjoy the biased commentaries and be there to rub it in when our fighters DO lose cuz they will. Everyone loses. But just for saying what you said, we'll also be there to return the favor if and when our fighters
win :D
ispayder 01-11-2005, 09:48 PM Well, actually, no boxer is invincible and i think nobody is claiming that any boxer who has power in his punch is invincible. I am a boxing fan since the Cassius Clay's days and a like boxers who can box. However, I like boxers who can outbox their opponents and at the same time, outslug their opponents when the need arises. Boxers with killer insticts, like sharks smelling blood, ready to demolish his opponent when the time comes. Tyson, Tito, Pacman, Tzyu, they are all boxers, it just happened that they have more power. I cannot blame their fans for hyping their favorite boxers, it is just natural.
jack_the_rippuh 01-11-2005, 09:48 PM Yeah but do you expect a fighter on the level of Trinidad to really do that especially since Hopkins said he would give Tito a rematch at anytime.
Yeah, but it's one thing to have a close fight and sort of win your chances of deserving a rematch, but it's another thing to get dominated and demand a rematch.
Trinidad could have only gained from doing this..
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:53 PM Again i`ll say it, i am not upset with people supporting and liking certain boxers. My point is when people make comments like Tito is gonna KO Hopkins i think it vital that the poster backs up this statement with evidence and reasoning on why they think it so, especially since Hopkins totally beat up Tito the first time they fought. Apart from the one comment, i think Tito will win blah blah, NO one has been able to give a conciving intelligent arguement as to WHY they feel Tito would win the rematch! This is my whole point of this thread!
borikua 01-11-2005, 09:54 PM I hope this Tito-Nard fight again, I know that Tito can do much better than the first time and he can beat Nard...
Kimmi...Pacman, Tyson, Tito, and Tszyu are great fighters and Hard hitters, thats the type of fighter I like...I enjoy seen good boxer like Spinks, DLH, etc...but I like hard hitting fighter that are allways looking fo the big KO...and know how to please the fans...

Tito won't win a rematch, but if you want I can debate with you on why morales will lose :D
Kimmy 01-11-2005, 09:56 PM Spot on Jack, Tito wasn`t in a position to demand a rematch with Nard. On what grounds? Why does he deserve one, his effort in the first fight was poor so why does he derve a rematch. Carl Daniels deserves a rematch more than Trinidad does, Carl Daniels won one round on two of the scorecards, thats more than Tito did!
borikua 01-11-2005, 09:57 PM Again i`ll say it, i am not upset with people supporting and liking certain boxers. Tito will KTFO Nard...Why? cuz i fukin say so...Is that a "conciving intelligent argument"?
mic573 01-11-2005, 09:58 PM But tito didn`t wanna risk losing to a lesser fighter while looking to force a super fight. Why wouldn't I have picked Tito to win? Nobody has ever stood in front of Tito and won. Mayorga certainly wasn't going to box and move. It took a great fighter putting on his greatest boxing performance to beat Tito convincingly and leaving no doubt. Even Hopkins wouldn't stand in front of Tito long.
As for Hopkins and Mayorga it was actually alot of the same people who were giving Mayorga a big chance at beating Tito who were giving him just as big a chance to not only beat Hopkins but knock him out.
kadyo 01-11-2005, 10:06 PM Tito will KTFO Nard...Why? cuz i fukin say so...Is that a "conciving intelligent argument"?
hahaha!!! no!

Tha Greatest 01-11-2005, 11:28 PM dont forget that time nedal hussein got robbed against pacquaio

Pac lost because he was dehydrated and could barely make 122.

I second the motion... :p
adrockinshit 01-11-2005, 11:49 PM very well said...
we shouldnt discredit these fighters because they can finish off they're opponent with one punch... its their talent... or should i say gift...
the thing is.. boxing fans tend to like these boxers because of their killer instinct... isnt it exciting to watch boxers who slug it out and finish their opponent with one great punch??
for me... what i like to see in boxing are the KOs/KDs... i hate judge's decision, because most of the time they're bias...
adrockinshit 01-11-2005, 11:53 PM he hasnt met up with freddie roach at that time...
with regards to the nedal hussein... pac has a tendency to be cranky at times...

I agree, calling Pac with only two ko's (he lost the other one due to dehydration) is dumbfounded or outright silly!

Yes i agreee with this one...For me the best winning today in boxing today is KO way...some judges are biased

Great post Kimmy, you make a lot of valid points. Yes about Hopkins beating Tito...I don't see Tito ever beating Bernard because every fighter has that one fighter that has their number and I think Bernard is that man for Tito...let's all be honest here...Bernard thoroughly schooled Tito...the fight wasn't even close. I don't see him winning a rematch simply because Bernard has more experience and far superior skills. It also didnt look like Tito added anything new to his arsenal when he beat Mayorga...same fighters equal same results. The one part where I disagree with you a little is the part about Pacman. I think that he is a different fighter from when he suffered those defeats...dont forget he is still a very young guy and is learning a lot. His last fight against 3k Battery he showed new skills in his arsenal courtesy of Freddie Roach. If he didn't show these new skills I would agree with you...but he seems to me to be a craftsman of the sport like Hopkins, rather than a brainless KO monster. Always improving learning new things adding more to his arsenal. And yes It's sad for me to say since he is also one of my favorites BUT Tyson is finished folks, and his knee giving out is just another sign of how his physical body itself has worn out...plus the way he's been talking lately shows he is mentally not in the game anymore, and that's not good for a man that was never strong emotionally to begin with. Maybe he should get into commentating.

yes man..i've been waiting for this picture to be put in a bigger form....jomapc has the incredible pic of manny in his profile.but this is bigger....i saw this once in a magazine's top cover... :)
Mr. Ryan 01-12-2005, 02:51 PM While that is true of Tyson and Tua, it's not true of Trinidad and Pacquiao. Pacman and Trinidad fans think they can beat everyone because they have.
jabsRstiff 01-12-2005, 02:56 PM Pac & Tito, unlike Tyson....will keep going until they're dead.
Unlike Tyson...if they don't get you early, they don't slow down.
Kimmy....You said all Tito has is a left hook.
Trinidad is a two-fisted a fighter if there ever was one. Sure, his left hook is the big shot, but his right hand is a quick, accurate, & punishing punch... which sets his left hook up beautifully.
Trinidad's patience, accuracy, & economy are every bit a part of his weaponry as is the force of his blows.
The same can be said of Manny Pacquiao's tenacity, energy, & speed.
Chups 01-12-2005, 03:04 PM dont forget that time nedal hussein got robbed against pacquaio

dont forget that time Pacman got robbed against JMM and Agapito Sanchez.
PacLand 01-20-2005, 05:17 AM Oh man, Nedal Hussein is a big cheater. Have you seen him fight? He throws elbows vs. Pac!!!
Billabong 02-11-2005, 08:15 PM See! This is the kinda bull**** posting i`m on about!

AIR_KENG 09-19-2005, 02:12 AM It is becoming a theme on this site to constantly big up the likes of Mike Tyson, Manny Pac and Felix Trinidad.
Oh, i see..he had the flu, his finger was hurt, it was a bad day, he got confused, his knee was injured, he didn`t eat his luckly charms, etc etc...
pre-fight hype dude... and pac's KO losses??? try wathing them again... i don't want to make excuses but when he is in tip top shape, you don;t expect him to lose by KO...
AIR_KENG 09-19-2005, 02:15 AM Pac is the best fighter ever.
See! This is the kinda bull**** posting i`m on about!
the thing is you like generalizing so if you see somehing like that, you overreact and get back on ALL of the fans. reality check bro, not all boxing fans are mature so give them the privilege to learn from their mistakes. if they don't, then i'll even help trash talk against them... :D
AIR_KENG 09-19-2005, 02:18 AM most of the tito fans are in PR and are PR..same goes for manny(are in philipines or are filipino)...but yeah...i dont like it when they put manny as if he could ko tyson..they tlak about him as if he was a god..i like the guy,but he's harcore fans make him hated sometimes...tito is great what can u say(even tho he turned into a ***** in the last 2 years including the retirement crap and waiting for hopkins to get old) but he's good and you cant argue that,i am a tito fan but i doubt he will ever be able to beat hopkins, unless hop gets old.
And tyson will always have fans..even shot tysons power gives him a great chance against anyone to this day...he may only be good for 5rounds...but i am telling you..those 5rounds aint no cake walk
somebody from us told you that manny could KO tyson? we're not pathetic lossers to even think that... maybe you heard from somebody else trying to disguise himself as a pacfan...:D
AIR_KENG 09-19-2005, 02:22 AM dont forget that time nedal hussein got robbed against pacquaio
hussein knocked him down for 18 seconds, but they were in pacs country.
if you can prove to me that that was the only time that it happened to boxing then i'll gladly accept that pac losed that fight. but then nedal was played dirty and it suited him... do you also remember the time that pac was robbed by marquez??? lol...
