Would boxing be better if there weren't any promoters.

Referees, good or bad? Trainers, good or bad? Managers? How about cutmen? I just don't see what you're getting at.

Both good and bad.
Boxing needs someone to run the hype machine and just like schoolyard fights, who better to instigate a fight than some slick ass **** talker that can't fight a lick but knows how to stir the pot! For a percentage of course!

The problem today is that we have promoters mixed up with cable networks and managers. It's a huge mix. Imagine what would happen if Don King didn't exist (HW division would look completely diferrent today) or how many great fights we would have if HBO and Showtime weren't at each other's throat. Sorry, just dreaming.

Without promoters, who would pay the fighters? Promoters are essential to the fight game. In my opinion, the only sure fire way to fix things is with a Boxing Commision that can oversee boxing. With health screenings, purse regulation, and fines for unscrupulous behavior, this would be a major weapon in the fight against promoters.

Well if Mccain get's his way then the Boxing commission will promote and pay the boxers. Boxers will probably have managers or agents conducting their business affairs.

There goes megafights right there. Let's see McCain shell out 10 mil for De La Hoya.

If it's Government backed you will see more mega fights. Don't worry about it. Obviously for a promoter to pay one boxer 25 million and another 20 million, that's 45 million a promoter just shelled out for a fight. I am sure that the promoter is making the money back somehow or else it would make no sense to shell out the money.

Maybe we could have a stable organization like the NFL or NBA where everything is a tournament. We would probably see more good fight like that. But I could be wrong, way wrong.

But for the promoters? Yes, it's good and bad. Don't worry guys, both Arum and King are both in their mid seventies. It won't be long till they retire. Let's just hope that they won't be replace by a more greedy guy with a gun for a mouth.

Don King will live forever just wait and see he'll be the first successfull test subject for human cloning! Just imagine having a Don King to ruin every weight class there is! SCARY!

Seriously I'm sure DK is already working on a way to either groom his replacement so that he can run **** from the afterlife, Or maybe he's working on a way to actually take his fortune with him when he dies! lol,

One thing is for sure when DK does die, that is one will that will be a must read! Considering ther is another person in the entire frikin world that speaks his language-isms-fiduciously speaking of course!

I think DK is already planning his retirement. He's suing ESPN for $2.5 billion for his retirement fund.

I think he is grooming his son for taking over as the worst mother****er in boxing history.
