a week or so ago i was sparring with my mate and i got his fore head with my thumbed part of the glove which was agony and was healing untill last nyt at boxing training i done it again , and after i got home from boxing , stupid me agreed to go to the megabowl with my mates (the megabowl for ppl who dont no is bowling lol ) wel this made my thumb worse , right now it is sore and i cant use it to hit any keys when i type , i can move it so i dont think it is broken but when i put presure ou it (say lifting a cup) i get this really sore pain at the bottom of my nail , does anyone know what i could of done to it and does anyone know how i can get it healing quicker beacause i have a fight in 2 weeks 6 days and i need to be able to use it , i also will be sparring tuesday , wednesday and friday this week , its really sore but i am just going to bear the pain cos i aint missing my fight
Thanks ;)

i did that once it took about 10 days to heal. I had swelling from my thumb and the palm of my hand. You wanna ice it lots n make sure you wrap your hands extra carefully

didnt recover ur injury u just went out n made it worse stoopid, haha jkin. Ive done the mistake of grittin my teeth and gettin thru a shoulder injury for a fite, i was out for weeks after.
just ice it everyday and if you hafta spar, just use the other hand more and if you use the other hand try to make it an uppercut. or do hard sprints instead of sparring shadow box to cool down n shit.

It sounds like it is a sprain of the interphlangeal joint of the thumb. it might be a Grade 2 strain i.e. tore some ligaments at the thumb. If it was a fracture, you would probably notice some deformity i.e. bony protrusion, and extreme tenderness on touch and movement. Get the ice on it, rest from resisted hand work at training (bag work, skipping, sparring) and try some anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling and pain. Strap it upon return to training.

Nazfan, i would miss the fight i know you don't want to but if you don't miss it your only going to make your hand 10 times worse…but if you go on with the fight all the luck to you!
