You know this guy, Vinnie Jones?:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/185000/images/_189977_vinnie_jones.300.09-10-98.jpg

Basically he was a hard man footballer (soccer) in the UK for years, his most famous moment being when he reached around and squeezed another guy's balls to put him off his game.

He was given a cameo role in a film by Guy Ritchie (Mr. Madonna) as a laugh, and - because it went down well - in the next Ritchie movie, Snatch.

It was all good, but somewhere along the line he actually seems to believe he can ACT.

I DO think he can act well when he's silent... he LOOKS the part. But Nicolas Cage tellingly said (after his role in Gone in 60 Seconds) that "you know you'll get a performance from him when blah blah blah can't remember the exact ****ing quote but Cage basically said Vinnie looks **** hot when he's just body acting and not TALKING..."

Then he's in Swordfish, but not the bit we all remember (ie. whatserface's tits). He was in some low budget UK comedy about a prison football team as well, wasn't he? And some adverts.

I DID think he was okay in Extras and he's alright when he's just comedy stunt casting... but it's not really "ACTING", is it?

But what say YOU?

Mean Machine, that was it.

He's not a BAD actor as such, just that his thespian leanings are... UNIQUE... to say the least.

He pulled off his roles in "Snatch" & "Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrells".
He seemed like a genuine tough guy.

as long as he doesn't try to go outside his range - tough guy character's - he'll be allrite. terence stamp is as tough as him but a much better actor, but times were different in the 70's, now u don't need to be able to really act...that part about grabbing the guy's ballz is funny **** though, even funnier if it's true

BTW Annie, thos poll choices are the funniest thing i've seen around here since JUY JUY got his ass banned

there was a radio dj down here a while back and she was from england. she would always talk about this place in england where people had their own language in a way- she called it "****ney rhyme n slang" or something like that, i cant remember exactly. she would make it into a game and no one could ever figure out what the hell she meant by all these crazy words she would use.

Its generally used by fat old people in the East End and Essex. Most of the young people in the East End (****ney territory) are Bangladeshi now.

I'm gonna get the ball grabbing pic for you, it IS true.

And cheers for the compliment on the choices (you know JuyJuy's back as Fordabckup, right?). I should point out that when I use "British profanity" it's normally totally antiquated words that haven't been in usage since the 70s/80s... it just amuses me more. (see "bumming", a word for butt ****ing that NOBODY in England has said since c.1986).

My view is that he's bacically a good caricature. He can look tough and pull faces, and can play certain parts well, but he's not a good conventional actor. fair play to him though.

i like him when hes playing the right roles if hes got to look a cunt then hes good, but i cant see him pulling off some really good stuff.
Fair play to him tho cos he still keeps getting roles so hes obviously doing something right.

for all my non brit friends uk slang varies with every region the only bit of slang you would of heard is ****ney.

who knows what dis means :
