i believe ali could have been in better shape in fighting trevor berbick in 1981, so if they rematched, provided ali trained better who would come out on top? remember the decision was pretty close the first time.

he properly would have still lost without the drugs, but he wouldn't have been destroyed like he was.

I haven't seen that fight for over 9 years so my memory isn't up to scratch. What I remember though, was perhaps 1 round later on in the fight where we saw a little bit of the old Ali and I thought for a second that he might come back and win it. He didn't though, lol.

I can't remember whether this was against Berbick or Holmes. I think it was Berbick. I think if he trained hard he'd have given Berbick a better fight. He might have won against impossible odds like he had so much in the past, but I think that Ali should have retired a few years earlier. He couldn't compete anymore.

Yeah same here, I haven't seen that or the Holmes fight in a long time. Someone needs to be brave and upload it.

I'll do it in the next couple of days. The worst part of it is when one of the announcers goes: "His arms no longer active, his legs no longer moving," while Holmes wails away at Ali's head like a banshee.

He was said to have taken some kind of diuretic before facing Holmes, which is a drug that basically causes a person to piss away some of the excess water they carried inside of them...Likely contributed to Ali being dehydration during the fight with Holmes, as well.
