Name some prospects who you think are over hyped.
Here are some of mine:
Dimitry Salita
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Amir Khan is one, I predict Kevin Mitchell will achieve more than him.

JCC jr isn't over hyped, he's not even hyped at all, I barely hear people talking about him.

I agree with Salita.

I've seen him fight a couple times now and just haven't been impressed.

Kevin Mitchell is over hyped as soon as he moves up in class he will lose, gets hit way to often, doesnt keep his hands up. Mitchell is building up his record fighting below average fighters, Murray & Burns are better prospects at super feather both would beat Mitchell.

Burns is going to get an "L" on his record very soon though.

I think Mitchell is legit.

I think Khan is overrated, will get put down far too often and won't have the power at light welter and above. That said, he's very young, will get the best preparation and has a lot of talent in other areas of his game (accuracy, balance, speed).

From what I've seen of Mitchell he isn't overhyped, just touted as a good prospect which he certainly is.

jaidon codrington. the way he got KO'd exposed him. stevens is the only chin checker in that camp, and even he has many flaws.

while litzau is a bit overhyped, i have respect for his survival skills. mother****er knows how to take a punch and use his legs to not take a second one. he's almost as good as cotto at surviving after a big punch. now he just has to learn some lateral head movement, he should get a better trainer

ricky hatton is also overhyped. while the guy has skills, he will be vulnerable when he goes up against a top echelon fighter in the US since he relies on holding. he doesn't hold like wlad holds either, wlad holds then hits you with straight shots, hatton holds and wahcks you on the back of the head cuz he's used to backwards euro boxing rules..wait until he fights in the US and has to make clean breaks and can't hold etc against a guy like judah with an accurate power hand.

I can see it now. He tries to hold vs judah, ref breaks them, you know judah can hit that dude in like .2 seconds with his straight left hand, he's gonna get gtfo

if he's smart, he'll stay in england.

I agree with you Panchito Bojado was over hyped, he was good though he had good punching power a great chin, but just seemed like he was a bit slow (kinda like Margarito) he could of had a promising career if he had continued, but all of the sudden just disappeared. I would of liked him to continue fighting.

One for sure though is Paul Malignagi (cant spell), he just doesnt seem like a guy that I want to see fight, not a big puncher, plus his fights are boring to me for some reason. What is it with him that a lot of people where awaiting his return?

jermain taylor. thou he isnt really a prospect anymore but i have a feeling that winky will expose him badly just like he exposed tito :D . and Ricky hatton's is definetly not an over-hyped "prospect"(and tbh he isnt even a prospect anymore :P ), ricky is an awesome fighter, and i dont think hes stupid enough to use dirty tactics in his US fights. The only reason why he fights dirty now is because he knows he will get away with that. but once he goes to US he willl NOT use any dirty tactics, hes not as stupid as golota, atleast i dont think so. so imo ricky shouldnt have any problem beating top US fighters in teh US.

I'd call him underhyped, in the West. Everyone I hear says that guy is a future champ. I mainly only know it from talking with a couple people living in Japan.

Litzau showed he had a heart of champ in his fight on ESPN over the summer. He survivied a KD in the 7th, got through the rest of that rd and survived the 8th and almost KO's his opponet in the 9th. And after seeing top boxer quit in 2005 who have give credit to Litzau for his heart. I wouldnt mind seeing a rematch of that fight, Litzau TKO's him by the 8th, the kid is hungry.

As for Malignaggi the kid is quick, has good defense and has an excellent jab (arguably the best outta all prospects),the question is can his right hand stay healthy. We'll find out feb 10 on espn Paulie fights a tough southpaw in Camarena. SO watch out 140, its wide open espeaclly if Hatton and Cotto are movin up soon to 147

And here r some of my top prospects for 2006

1. Andy Lee, this kid is from Limerick, Ireland and was Irelands only rep for the 2004 olymic games. Lee just signed a contract with Emmanuel Steward and will be headlining in his pro debut at the Joe Louis Arena in February. The last Steward fighter to do this? Tommy Hearns
2. Andy Murray - voted Ireland's top prospect of 2005 and already racked up 3 straight wins (3-0, 1 KO's)
3. James Moore, who is Duddy's stablemate at Irish Ropes in NYC and already 4-0, 3 KO's
