Randy Moss is an unbelievable jerk, but I'm getting tired of the "shocked and appalled" reaction from the league, fans and sportwriters over this whole mooning bit.

First of all, the guys of Fox have no business calling other people classless. These are the same guys that make a living acting like little boys. Maybe we should be so shocked at all the lewd remarks Bradshaw makes to their weather lady. You can tell me that it's "all in fun" but it's the same clownish behaviour that Moss was showing. To condemn him is hypocritical.

Second of all, Joe Buck does Budweiser commercials where they glorify a fictitious athlete who acts just like Moss. For him to call his act "disgusting" is hypocritical.

Third of all, The Fox guys acted like someone had just died on the field after the Pack-Vikes game. The reason had more to do with their St.Brett Favre sucking it up on the field. I shook my head in disgust when they assured us at halftime that the intercepts he threw were not his fault because his receiver ran the wrong patterns. True, but they would never rush to defend any other QB like that. They have to jump to his defence whenever he blows it, which these days is often. So then they're shown up and they whine and moan.

Fourth of all, Fox is the network that has turned bathroom humour into an art form. They have basically encouraged this sort of behaviour since day one. For employees of this network to then turn around and talk about how terrible it is is nothing but super-hypocritical.

Fifth of all, the NFL makes a living off of beer commercials that show guys acting like pigs and clowns and women peeling their clothes off. For them to fine Moss now for basically doing what they tell him to do with these commercials is ultra-hypocritical.

I'm sick of the NFL and its partners acting so high and mighty now when they do nothing but perpretate this behaviour. Makes me sick.

I don't understand how NFL is supposed to be considered family programming when its sponsors include Viagra and Budweiser.

Some really good points. This thread should be titled the fox double standard.

Your right. its bull****. This is the network that brought us "The Swan" and "Who's Your Daddy?". The games are full of boner commercials, beer commercials, and that one that says you can still ride a bike and go swimming with herpes. Fox takes bad behavior to another level and the NFL are a bunch of hypocrites.

The NFL fines people for big helmet to helmet hits, then they make a DVD of all of them and sell it at Best Buy for 14.95.

Good suggestion, but ESPN acted just as outraged and they were the ones who practically invented the "dumb guy" sportcaster. Plus they're been launching series after series of "reality" or drama programming that exploits this same type of behaviour.

Everyone involed in the NFL is practicing a double standard these days.

....You do have a bit of a point there. Did you notice that while Buck was admonishing Moss that Troy didn't say one word to the topic. He either didn't see it as that big of a deal or he didn't want to come off like a hypocrite himself. I was glad he stayed out of it.

I didn't notice that, but Troy has come always come across as an upstanding guy so I'm glad he kept quiet. Also notice that Jimmy Johnson didn't comment much about it easier. In fact he kept trying to change to subject while the other guys kept harping on what Moss did (plus he was the only one who didn't look like their dog had died because the Packers lost). Johnson's the smartest one in the bunch when it comes to this stuff...he always talks about how you have to cut the star players some slack because nine times out of ten they come packaged with massive egos that you have to manage. At the same time, he is still a coach's coach, and made sure to admonish Moss for his walkoff during their interview.

I was also ticked off when Joe said that he would have for sure benched Moss at the start of that game to punish him for the walkoff. So, what, he's a professional coach now? Does he have any idea how the Vikes fans would have reacted had one of their star players been benched?

No problem, I'm guessing they don't get many NFL highlights in Munich...or else you were drinking too many of those 1 litre mugs of brew at the Hofbrau haus to notice them :D .

After he got basically the clinching touchdown Moss turned his back to the crowd, bent over, and mimed pulling his pants down and mooning the crowd. Didn't actually drop his pants or anything...it was all an act, but he's been notorious for bad behaviour before so this got noticed.

You only get NFL per Pay TV over here and it was never my favourite sport anyway. But you aren't far off with the Hoffbräuhaus thing. ;)

Actually it sounds kinda funny. :D
Was it his home crowd? Imagine the fans doing the same thing as some kind of celebration. :D

lol or if someone threw a bottle of beer or something and it would land exactly at, well,
the spot.

If it was only some celebration I don't understand why it's that great a deal. I've seen far worse.

They didn't say **** because they understand one thing matters in the playoffs, winning and that is what they probably thought should have been disgused.

Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman proibably wanted to talk about the Vikes upset and how Randy was the key component to that upset...the rest of Fox was still crying over Brett Favre.

One of my fondest (or fuzziest?) memories of my trip through Europe was sitting in the Hoffbrauhaus at 10am with a mug in my hand and not a care in the world. Good times.

Funny you should say that. Apparently the Packers have had a longstanding tradition of, after a victory, mooning the opposing team's bus as it pulls out of the the stadium. He was mooning the visiting crowd, by the way, and spent half the game smack talking with some guys behind the bench. Pretty funny, really.

Welcome to puritannical North America. Keep in mind that Janet Jackson's breast wasn't even exposed, technically. There was something covering up, well, the middle. Thing is they use the same image to sell beer and trucks, so we're also hypocritical North America, as well.

HEhehehe good point. But then again, the creation of a family isn't even something that parents want their kids to know about until the last minute. Just look at sex ed in this country.

Next time you go to a Biergarten, enjoy the weather, drink twice as much and pay the half. ;)

Ther've been guys in the Bundesliga who've shown fans the middlefinger or spitted at them. Last week a guy in Italians Serie A celebrated by makeing a Nazi gesture with his right hand.
That's where it crosses the line. But trash talking and showing a lil ass. You see that every week over here. Eminem showed his ass like 2000 times when he was invited to Stephan Raab and people actually laughed about it.

Kids over here see breasts all the day, even in commercials for butter.

What I found funny about "Nipplegate" is that most people over there were emberassed by a single, ugly breast but don't care about their kids seeing brutal violence in lots of movies or series.
