The New Year brought more than rain for this Los Angeles, California resident. Harboring the final day of seemingly endless rain and wind, news reached my e-mail account from Top Rank representative Ricardo Jimenez, Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales will be fighting March 19, 2004.

Fight fans should send Saint Nick a Thank You note, the jolly old elf put a stellar fight schedule for 2005 under their Christmas trees. As Juan Manuel Marquez and his trainer Ignacio Beristain haggled Top Rank over their end of the purse for a rematch with Pacquiao, Morales sneaked in the back door and took their payday. The only reason PAC is going to fight at 130 are EM & MAB, after those fights he will go back at 126, but the problem here JMM don't have the luxury of time ...

I still hope that PAC-JMM 2 happens this Feb, i want to see first and foremost unfinished business be settled ...

JMM wont fight Pac coz he's afraid he'd die against the new Pacman.

I'd much rather watch this fight than to see Pacman finish the job on JMM who seems threatened enough to outprice himself.

This match sets up at least one more badass MAB fight regardless of who wins.

Well a PPV is the best venue to end either Pac's or Erik's pride isn't it ? :D

Well its good that there was a change in schedule. I guess Roach and Murad wanted to break the news AFTER Pacman left RP. Hehehehehehe. I imagine MP would play more pool as well as do more commercials ifever he learned the news while still here.

He has no choice now but to train hard. MP is a very hard worker. That is, if you get to extract him from is other extra-curriculars. But once focused...whoa...EM you had better be really prepared.

What are the pros and cons about this fight? One of thet things I see to Manny's advantage is EM's style. I would think EM is the more exciting boxer than JMM coz he never runs or waits. He stands there ready to hit and be hit. Thats what's so exciting during the Barerra-Morales fight. Neither man would back up that easily. JMM style has always been to counter. Hit-and-run. It may be the wiser thing against an opponent such as MP, but, to tell you the truth, its a bore. No wonder JMM is not in the same limelight as other Mexicans such as EM, MAB or even Tapia or the great Julio Ceasar Chavez.

But this time around, MP will face someone bigger than him. EM stands 2 inches taller, therefore more reach. And eventhough he is more of a man than JMM coz he stands his ground, EM is still a boxer rather than a slugger. I'm pretty sure he'll stay at a goood distance from MP's straight power punches (Roach, you better do a good job on the MP cross, it would be really something if he can throw it wisely).

I guess another factor, one that cannot be gauged by how well you trained, is the hungry-factor. Who is psychologically ready? Manny has always said he is ready and waiting. But is he? Of the 4 boxers (MP, JMM, EM and MAB), I'd say he's on the top even if he has no official belt. He knows that, and the 3 other Mexicans know that. He's the gauge. EM lost to Barrera, and if I lost to closely to some pug like MAB, I'd want revenge. I'll prove that I can defeat this guy that defeated the one who defeated me twice. It's more of a match to EM. It's pride. As for MP, we can never underestimate this guy. He's not bitter with anybody, like EM has always been with MAB. I mean this guy can't even put up a mean face during his pictorials. hahahahahaha....So its so easy for his opponents to underestimate him. Yet, he's focused, has the best work ethic during training. He's number one so he doesnt have to attack anybody. Yet he's game to fight you toe to toe.

So far as these factors are concerned, it will be hard to discern as to who will win this fight. Raoch said EM is easier to fight but you still never know. But as far as I'm concerned, it's still Manny Pacquiao, no decisions, KO or a TKO...get ready to kiss the canvass Eric ole boy!

honestly, it was quite disappointing for top rank to offer JMM a purse lower than manny's purse. I mean, he is the champion and regardless of manny being the crowd drawer, JMM should still be given enough credit. But what the hell, morales-pacquiao is not a lower quality slugfest, so im ok with it. good point, manny, erik and marco at the 130, JMM will be finding it hard to get big paychecks... roach is right, if erik is just going to stand in front of manny like he did with barrera, he's a goner... not that i am discrediting erik's power, he's powerful alright, but not speedy... long reach equals lesser speed i guess for erik... i have seen the last three fights of erik and though he has great punching power, i was not impressed with his style... manny is going win, i just don't know if it will be by decision or KO...

Just relax, we cannot also blame JMM, he ask for a bigger purse because it is not easy to be hit by a devastating tsunami punch of PACMAN. I'ts better to get little amount of money than to have a bigger amount with lot of painful punishment. But that's business, it's still the giant television network who had the say afterall. My prediction PACMAN wins by knockout!

A most brilliant move by Team Pacquiao to hook Morales, with Murad scoring big, big points. Now Murad can sleep soundly at night without worrying he'll be dumped by the Pacman the next day! :D

As for JMM, he'll be lucky get loose change from now on.

Diana Ross'll be asking him soon: DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO?
