View Full Version : is Samuel Peter the heir apparent? dansweeney 01-10-2005, 12:06 PM is he the real thing or just another bum? jpboxer3 01-10-2005, 12:13 PM I couldn't really tell even after his KO win over Jeremy Williams because Williams was a smallish heavyweight who was already known to have glass-jaw. After his scheduled fight with Yanqui Diaz January 22nd,we'l know whether or not he is the real thing.Diaz is another big strong Heavyweight prospect who I think will give Sam Peter alot of problems in the ring. dansweeney 01-10-2005, 12:19 PM I couldn't really tell even after his KO win over Jeremy Williams because Williams was a smallish heavyweight who was already known to have glass-jaw. After his scheduled fight with Yanqui Diaz January 22nd,we'l know whether or not he is the real thing.Diaz is another big strong Heavyweight prospect who I think will give Sam Peter alot of problems in the ring. ya, i cant wait for that fight, if he kayo's diaz in spectacular fashion that would really make a statement in the heavy division, if he does that id like to see him knock ruiz into retirement Neuraxis 01-10-2005, 12:21 PM Diaz is a nobody, and Peter is clearly not the heir apparent. elveiel 01-10-2005, 01:07 PM No, Vitali's top dog. Vitali looks pretty easy to beat because of his style but he's not, he's far stronger than any other heavy and uses his height very well. I think Peter's a contender at best. tri4ben2 01-10-2005, 01:36 PM Why are you asking this? Are you going to bring this up in 5 years and say "Ha Ha you were wrong"? give the poor guy some time to develop, and the answer will be clear. People used to say that Michael Grant was the heir apparent, but we saw what happened to that. elveiel 01-10-2005, 01:41 PM Why are you asking this? Are you going to bring this up in 5 years and say "Ha Ha you were wrong"? give the poor guy some time to develop, and the answer will be clear. People used to say that Michael Grant was the heir apparent, but we saw what happened to that. People said Wlad was the heir apparent :D dansweeney 01-10-2005, 02:07 PM Diaz is a nobody, and Peter is clearly not the heir apparent. oh its klitschko boy again, your opinion is completely bias so i dont think anybody wants to hear what you have to say, you are just scared that peter will kayo your man vitali dansweeney 01-10-2005, 02:08 PM Why are you asking this? Are you going to bring this up in 5 years and say "Ha Ha you were wrong"? give the poor guy some time to develop, and the answer will be clear. People used to say that Michael Grant was the heir apparent, but we saw what happened to that. hey *******, the heavy division stinks and im bringing up a question about a young fighter that looks promising, if you dont like the thread then dont read it dickhead, **** you Neuraxis 01-10-2005, 02:51 PM oh its klitschko boy again, your opinion is completely bias so i dont think anybody wants to hear what you have to say, you are just scared that peter will kayo your man vitali I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but if Peter can't KO glass chinned Shufford or Pudar he isn't going to KO Vitali. oldgringo 01-10-2005, 03:01 PM If Peter beats Diaz convincingly then I will believe that he could be a serious contender in the near future. I'd like to see how he handles a bomb from a big puncher as well. This fight against Diaz should be a pretty good test for him. dansweeney 01-10-2005, 03:48 PM I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but if Peter can't KO glass chinned Shufford or Pudar he isn't going to KO Vitali. pudar has never been stopped dude, do your homework dansweeney 01-10-2005, 03:50 PM i dont think he is a lock to be the next unified champ or something, i just think he looks like he has potential and i wanted to see what other people think about it thats all, i asked if he is the heir apparent in a question form, not a statement, in the pudar fight he didnt impress me, but he showed more speed and awesome power against williams who was on a hot streak, he has the build and the power, the chin needs testing though Neuraxis 01-10-2005, 03:50 PM pudar has never been stopped dude, do your homework That doesn't mean that he isn't a bum. I was saying that Shufford has a glass chin not Pudar. dansweeney 01-10-2005, 03:53 PM That doesn't mean that he isn't a bum. I was saying that Shufford has a glass chin not Pudar. i agree with that, he could be a bum, but right now he looks like the only promising prospect ive seen, i dont know how good he is yet, but that punch he landed on williams was heavy as hell, you could hear the thud, he isnt that tall though, which is a drawback Mr. Ryan 01-10-2005, 04:01 PM Peter I think is the next Davis Tua, in the sense that he will make things exciting, knock out alot of good fighters, but never become a dominant champ. While an alphabelt is very much in grasp, I think he will thoroughly outboxed when he gets to the top. But he will make things very interesting in the coming years... bpapa420 01-10-2005, 04:13 PM He seems to be a C class fighter at the moment. He does have room to improve Neuraxis 01-10-2005, 04:16 PM i agree with that, he could be a bum, but right now he looks like the only promising prospect ive seen, i dont know how good he is yet, but that punch he landed on williams was heavy as hell, you could hear the thud, he isnt that tall though, which is a drawback I wasn't calling Peter a bum either. Pudar is the bum. Peter is just a decent prospect at the moment. Nothing more, nothing less. dansweeney 01-10-2005, 04:50 PM Peter I think is the next Davis Tua, in the sense that he will make things exciting, knock out alot of good fighters, but never become a dominant champ. While an alphabelt is very much in grasp, I think he will thoroughly outboxed when he gets to the top. But he will make things very interesting in the coming years... now that is a good analysis, only peter is taller with better reach, and with some seasoning he could be really good, i just like that he actually has power, im sick of seeing everydam heavyweight fight these days go 12 rounds, i want kayos and hopefully he keeps knocking people out Sir_Jose 01-10-2005, 04:52 PM is he the real thing or just another bum? Somewhere in the middle. He is not a bum, but at the same time is not the real deal. Kimmy 01-10-2005, 05:50 PM I think Asain Sensation put it best. He might be a one trick pony, ala David Tua. He lacks boxing ability at the top level. He can punch but will find it hard to land without better schooling in the fundamentals. He looks solid, has the neck and thickness of a David Tua, this suggests he may have a solid chin. However, his footwork is lacking and his hand speed is average. I agree, he could catch a class fighter and it could be lights out but taller or better schooled boxers may box his ears off. However, he is young, he will only get better with experience and the heavyweight division, apart from Vitali, isn`t looking too hard to compete in at the moment. Possible belt holder one day but as long as Klitscko reigns, he isn`t gonna be THE champion anytime soon! !! Anorak 01-10-2005, 06:28 PM Why are you asking this? Are you going to bring this up in 5 years and say "Ha Ha you were wrong"? give the poor guy some time to develop, and the answer will be clear.I agree, Tri4ben2 - there's nothing hacks me off more than coming into a boxing forum and seeing people discussing boxing. It makes me want to click onto a thread I have no interest in and tell off the person for starting it. As for Samuel - slow and crude, but that punch!!! hollister 01-10-2005, 06:33 PM Jeremy should have beaten Peter easily, but made a stupid mistake against a known puncher, I think Peter will still beat alot of second rate fighters, but will pay the price when he steps up. Floydmayweather 01-10-2005, 08:21 PM Peter can punch but he will get killed by Vitali. He opens up some much when he punches and he is slow as hell. Even James Toney would kill Peter. Nodogoshi 01-10-2005, 09:01 PM I think Peter makes an obvious compareson with Tua, although at this point he cant be considered on the same level, as Tua has acomplished more. However, I do believe Peter may infact surpass Tua in due time. He already may have a better right hand then Tua and his left shows potential aswell. He may also be more physicaly gifted aswell, by way of additional height and reach. Ofcourse, they are clearly different fighters, but the comparison seems natural. bandito 01-10-2005, 09:09 PM how about we give him a few more fights against top contenders!! Mr. Violence 01-10-2005, 09:21 PM hey *******, the heavy division stinks and im bringing up a question about a young fighter that looks promising, if you dont like the thread then dont read it dickhead, **** you Well in answer to the question...well it's too early to tell wether he is the heir apparent or not. I have seen enough of him to know he's low-rent. His power is overrated (Jeremy Williams is a washed-up fighter who couldn't take a punch on his best day).....& his speed & skills are non-existent. dansweeney 01-11-2005, 03:15 PM If Peter has success, it's a statement on just how sorry the heavyweight division is today.
