Ring Magazine featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao will fight Erik "El Terrible" Morales, the former WBC super featherweight champion instead of WBA/IBF champion Juan Manuel Marquez in a scheduled rematch on February 26 following their controversial draw last May in which Pacquiao decked Marquez three times in the opening round but couldn't put him away. A Japanese website earlier reported that the announcement of the fight had been made by Top Rank. [details (http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=511)]

If only the small guys were more "marketable" we could have a wonderful tournament at superfeather...JMM, MAB, El Terrible, Pacman

What's your definition of "marketable"? The feather and superfeather are the deepest and most exciting - and therefore, most "marketable" - division today. Based on the threads and postings in this forum, the other divisions doesn't generate half as much excitement.

it is quite sad that this fight will not happen on feb. 26. i've been eagerly anticipating this fight and i strongly agree with jomapac, manny should fight marquez first before morales. i understand marquez, being the champion and having to put 2 titles on the line, to have a lesser paycheck compared to his contender. but anyway, he won't get far in his career if he will not face manny. they are the new barerra-morales rivalry and should fight again.

this is somewhat dissappointing, although it is something that favors the manny better. the length of his training will be the biggest constraint, so that move to fight morales instead is quite a nice pick. i've been waiting for the pacquiao-marquez rematch, so when i read this, i was really pissed off. the chance to know who really is better between these 2 excellent boxers, ahh, i think we will be waiting for it for a while. damn that "money thing"!!! nonetheless, the pacquiao-morales blockbuster is something to watch for.

my fearless forecast: Pacman would knock El Terrible out in 8 rounds. If this does not happen, Morales wins by decision. and a rematch is set off soon....
