Up to this point, who has had the better legacy, roy or oscar? Even though Roy is considered the best p4p fighter of his generation de la hoya has an impressive resume.

View Full Version : De La Hoya or Jones Jr? unity768 12-29-2005, 01:52 AM Up to this point, who has had the better legacy, roy or oscar? Even though Roy is considered the best p4p fighter of his generation de la hoya has an impressive resume. RAESAAD 12-29-2005, 02:07 AM Oscar has had far more big fights and always fought the top guys whatever weight he was fighting at and it happens to be more intriging match ups in that era for DLH than RJJ......both had outstanding careers but Roy has had the ****tier end of the stick as of late I go with DLH on the question at hand. supaduck 12-29-2005, 10:52 AM I say DLH. And i agree with that sig, raesaad. VERSION1 (V1) 12-29-2005, 01:29 PM Up to this point, who has had the better legacy, roy or oscar? Even though Roy is considered the best p4p fighter of his generation de la hoya has an impressive resume. roy went from middleweight champ to heavyweight champ de la hoya went from Super Featherweight champ to middleweight champ but i give it to the goldenboy because has fought more of the top guys McGoorty 08-07-2011, 07:39 AM Up to this point, who has had the better legacy, roy or oscar? Even though Roy is considered the best p4p fighter of his generation de la hoya has an impressive resume. Roy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better ,...... better, Barnburner 08-07-2011, 09:25 AM Agreed with McGoorty. Getting beat by the best people you faced isn't very good. The Surgeon 08-07-2011, 09:48 AM Roy Jones WILL and SHOULD be remembered as the better fighter. Oscar was very very good but Roy was on another level for so long, his late career hurts him but when Roy was Roy there are very few fighters in history ud favour over him IronDanHamza 08-07-2011, 10:12 AM How anyone can say Oscar is even close to as great as Roy Jones Jr is beyond me. joseph5620 08-07-2011, 12:27 PM Up to this point, who has had the better legacy, roy or oscar? Even though Roy is considered the best p4p fighter of his generation de la hoya has an impressive resume. Jones actually won his biggest fights in dominating fashion. Oscar always lost to his best opponents. Fighting the best and losing to them doesn't enhance your legacy. Jones has had the better career and it's not close IMO. joseph5620 08-07-2011, 12:28 PM How anyone can say Oscar is even close to as great as Roy Jones Jr is beyond me. I feel the same way IronDan. I can't see any justification in rating Oscar higher. bojangles1987 08-07-2011, 02:39 PM How anyone can say Oscar is even close to as great as Roy Jones Jr is beyond me. Man I almost threw up seeing the first few posts. IronDanHamza 08-07-2011, 04:15 PM Man I almost threw up seeing the first few posts. :lol1: :lol1: Since it was 6 years ago I gave them the benefit of the doubt. blaze778 08-07-2011, 06:22 PM Agreed with McGoorty. Getting beat by the best people you faced isn't very good. I agree. De La Hoya had some good wins, but an impressive resume doesn't mean much when he lost to all the best fighters on his record. Unfortunately for Roy these days, he's getting beat by some of the worse people he's ever faced. colly10 08-07-2011, 06:28 PM There is no comparison between a prime jones and de la hoya. Jones made Toney look like a bum. I'm surprised this question is being asked 5850 08-07-2011, 06:37 PM I agree. De La Hoya had some good wins, but an impressive resume doesn't mean much when he lost to all the best fighters on his record. Unfortunately for Roy these days, he's getting beat by some of the worse people he's ever faced. I wouldn't call Calzaghe, Hopkins, or even Lebedev nearly the worst competition that Roy has ever faced. Shiranui 08-07-2011, 08:39 PM Jones. Both careers flawed though. blaze778 08-07-2011, 09:38 PM I wouldn't call Calzaghe, Hopkins, or even Lebedev nearly the worst competition that Roy has ever faced. I was referring to Danny Green. Scott9945 08-07-2011, 10:42 PM I was referring to Danny Green. Ok, I'll give you that one. I guess it was harder remembering all of Roy's recent losses than I thought. RubenSonny 08-07-2011, 10:45 PM I wouldn't call Calzaghe, Hopkins, or even Lebedev nearly the worst competition that Roy has ever faced. Ouch...I wouldn't go that far, Lebedev is awful. gzgz 08-07-2011, 11:04 PM oscar an it aint even close. SCtrojansbaby 08-08-2011, 03:51 AM Roy and Oscar aren't in the same universe in terms of accomplishments in the ring. Roy>>>>>>>>>>Oscar SCtrojansbaby 08-08-2011, 03:55 AM Ouch...I wouldn't go that far, Lebedev is awful. WTF are you talking about Lebedev is a top 5 cruiserweight. RubenSonny 08-08-2011, 12:50 PM WTF are you talking about Lebedev is a top 5 cruiserweight. Erm so what? Cruiserweight is an awful division - he's still an awful fighter. Mr. Roach 08-08-2011, 12:53 PM Oscar probably has the better resume, but Roy was the better fighter. Scott9945 08-08-2011, 08:07 PM Erm so what? Cruiserweight is an awful division - he's still an awful fighter. But still considerably better than Ricky Frazier and Glen Kelly. SCtrojansbaby 08-09-2011, 03:18 AM Oscar probably has the better resume Oscar's top 4 wins are a close decision against Pernell Whitaker a close decision against Ike Quartey Fernando Vargas John John Molina Roy's top 4 wins are Dominating James Toney Dominating Bernard Hopkins Dominating John Ruiz Dominating Virgil Hill SCtrojansbaby 08-09-2011, 03:23 AM Erm so what? Cruiserweight is an awful division - he's still an awful fighter. I am convince you have never seen Lebedev fight poet682006 08-09-2011, 03:29 AM I am convince you have never seen Lebedev fight I'm convinced you've never seen any fighter from prior to the year 2000 fight :geek9: gibo 08-09-2011, 03:37 AM Comparing Roy Jones Jr. to delajoya is funny as h*ll. RubenSonny 08-09-2011, 05:24 PM But still considerably better than Ricky Frazier and Glen Kelly. Ahh yes, you are correct but not by much. I am convince you have never seen Lebedev fight I have and he's awful hell from what I hear Jones gave him a good fight. The Surgeon 08-09-2011, 05:48 PM Ahh yes, you are correct but not by much. I have and he's awful hell from what I hear Jones gave him a good fight. He sucks Ruben and the fact the Jones was right in the fight should be enough to prove this.... SCtrojansbaby 08-10-2011, 02:24 AM Ahh yes, you are correct but not by much. I have and he's awful hell from what I hear Jones gave him a good fight. LOL you didn't even watch his last fight, if you did you would know Lebedev was clearly ahead by 2 or 3 rounds before he knocked Roy out. RubenSonny 08-10-2011, 02:26 AM LOL you didn't even watch his last fight, if you did you would know Lebedev was clearly ahead by 2 or 3 rounds before he knocked Roy out. I concede, he's an absolute world beater:fing02: RubenSonny 08-10-2011, 02:27 AM He sucks Ruben and the fact the Jones was right in the fight should be enough to prove this.... Yeah I agree but I've also seen him fight before and it backs up my view that he sucks balls. |
