Well I used to do martial arts. I did karate, and ju-jitsu. Then I did kickboxing as well. I lifted weights through-out the entire thing. But my favorite out of all 3 was the kickboxing. But I didn't really like the kicking aspect. So obviously, what I like is boxing. I love watching it and all as well. There aren't any gyms around here to box in though. The only chance I have to actually get trained would be to go back to the place I did kickboxing and martial arts and see if he could train me on just boxing. He's a 7th degree black-belt, so I think he'd be pretty damn good to spar with. Do you think that would be smart though? He's into the martial arts, so do you think that maybe he would mess me up with bad form (in boxing) because of his background in martial arts? That's really all the oppurtunity I have though. The other closest gym is about an hour away and my parents wouldn't let me go an hour just to train. Also, any tips for someone who's just beginning boxing (besides listen to your trainer)? Anything that works for you guys that you think would help? Thanx

well I wasn't sure about this guy, because he also teaches kickboxing. Boxing and kickboxing are different, but they're very the same as well. If it's agreed upon later on in this thread that he's no good to go to then maybe someone can help me out with somewhere like patto said (but I doubt it). I live in Pennsylvania in a little town called McAdoo. The closest I found was in Scranton and that's like an hour away. Input would be appreciated.

this is really a tough question.
i would just do all out kickboxing. get good at it, then later on work on sharpening up (or remodelling) my boxing with a boxing trainer.
with kickboxing maybe you can be in K-1 or pride one day
the thing that scares me is that you are calling it kickboxing and not muay thai. american style kickboxing is pretty much the same as TKD, karate, and/or tae bo
