It is common knowledge that it has evolved with little more than fighting in mind, whereas most other cats are built for speed and agility. A little known fact is that since the days of Henry II, lion and tiger fights were held in the tower of London, with the lion almost always winning. On the other hand, the grizzly bear simply dwarves the lion, and most other animals too! Its bone density is one of the greatest in the world and it has been recorded killing mountain lions and cattle with a single swipe of its paw.

Lions vs Tigers have been done as recently as the 1960's. Lions have always won. It was done at some illegal betting arena in Asia.

The reason is that lions are not solitary animals and will defend their pride against other male lions trying to take over. Tigers, on the other hand, are solitary creatures that rarely have confrontations with other tigers and therefore have little experience in fighting another predator.

Basically an amateur fighting a pro.

it can go either way..it depends on the animal..siberian tigers are like 200 pounds bigger then lions and bengal tigers are about 100 pounds bigger alot of ppl dont know that..ive seen lion vs tiger fights before..and the lion usually won..but i dont think it was fighting bengal or siberian males..i saw a tigress smack around a lioness in a stage caged fight in KOREA

Here's a vid I found, though it's definately not significant enough for the debate, the male lion is fighting one of the smaller sub-species of Tiger, seeing as it dwarfs it quite alot.
