Jones-Hopkins II DONE DEAL MARCH 11!
By G. Leon

December 23, 2005 - On March 11, former pound for pound kings Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr will meet on HBO PPV in a rematch of their 1993 middleweight title fight. After dropping two razor thin decisions to Jermain Taylor, Hopkins will move up to light heavyweight to face Jones Jr.-whom he believes to be the last man to truly beat him-in his final fight. The venue has yet to be determined but, Memphis, Washington DC, Atlanta and Chicago are all under consideration. Souces close to the situation have confirmed that the deal is done and contracts have already been signed. REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! 1:52 PM EST)

who do you think will win this fight?

It depends on what RJJ shows up.. B-Hop is as dangerous if not more so than Tarver. If a focused and ready RJJ who wants to fight and not just survive shows up, well RJJ by UD. If not, I am going with B-Hop by KO.

I think B-hop is going to win if this happens. I haven't decided by what though.

I think I will go with Jones Jr on this one. Jones is a betta boxer than Hopkins and I believe that 175lbs is Jones' turf.

Let's be realistic here. Jones Jr was afraid of Tarver's power. I don't think Hop's power is special now at 160lbs and I doubt he gets stronger at 175lbs. I can see Roy not being afraid to open up and just dominates Hopkins. Jones Jr is still very fast. He just can't beat Tarver.

This is 175, a weight that Hopkins has never tried. I think that Jones will take this.

if the jones that showed up for taver 3 comes thne he wins, if the glen johnson roy shwos up then B-hop might get the W

It's like Mosley-Vargas. Sounds good but then you realize its the new Vargas and new Mosley fighting each other. Sad truth.

I'm laughing my ass off over here. Fight fans stopped caring about this one back in 2002 when they failed to reach a deal on what must have been 6 attempts to negotiate. This is gonna be the fight of the dirty looks. Whoever throws the meanest facial expressions is gonna win cuz these losers won't land a punch! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA this is so ridiculous

People wanted to see this after Hopkins beat Tito but Jones was playing hard to get.

Jones loses a lot of respect in rational peoples' minds.

Having just rewatched Jones vs. Johnson, I think this is a bad fight. Roy probably shouldn't even be in the ring. I guess Hopkins is no longer a pressure fighter and I hope Roy still has enough left, but...

Take the inactive fighters in both of those fights and throw them together. That's Jones-Hopkins II, and that is a disgrace that these guys unwilling to fight are making more money than people like Corrales and Castillo.

If Roy wants to fight one last time, let him fight. Hopkins is still damn good, don't forget that. He didn't look terrible in either fight against Taylor.

who do you think will win this fight?
I think Hopkins wins, because he was way more competitive in his last fights. also he knows that he has a fragile Jones in front of him this time, so I think that he will be more aggressive towards Jones then he was against Taylor. Although I had hopkins winning both fights against Taylor. 116-114 Hopkins in the first fight and 115-113 hopkins in the second fight.
Tarver could've had Jones out of there if he had pressed the action. I'm pretty sure that Hopkins will really push for a KO in this fight, especially since if this is his last fight and he feels that he has to go out with a win. also trying to avenge what he feels is his only real loss in the last 12-13 years..
Jones was just happy to make it out of the fight with Tarver on his feet, that was all he was shooting for, just go the distance and not get KO'd........
I'm taking Hopkins, winning by KO.

but even his fans must call him on his bull**** for finally making the fight some three years too late. His actions in the ring lately and on the negotiating table only satiates those who think he's always been a ***** (I became a believer after Jones-Tarver III when he backed off Tarver).

I look forward to this...I think both guys have declined enough that it is a pretty even fight...Hops has slowed down quite a bit, as Taylor exposed (yeah, both fights were close and Hopkins sure didn't look 40 but he had just lost enough to give Taylor the edge) and RJJ has as well. Who cares if both guys are on the downside of their career? I think Hops has a bit more in the tank than Jones does and wins a SD. Damn, 2006 is going to be a banner year for boxing!

My thread was about nuthuggers using the prime thing as an excuse for fighters losing.

Essentially nuthuggers wont give Tarver credit. They wont give Winky credit for beating Tito. Hatton for beating Kostya. Big difference.

Stop crying. You're delusional about Roy still being great. What you need to do is go buy some Roy DVDs and cuddle up with a teddy bear named Roy and watch them all day and talk about how great Roy used to be when he was beating up firemen and police officers and garbage men.

Im wondering what is going to happen to the one who wins this fight. If Jones wins, does he fight Tarver. He has shown that he is scared of Tarver and will lose everytime they fight. If Hopkins wins, does he fight Tarver?? Hopkins already said he was retired, So is this his last fight? This is kinda weird to make this fight now.

These two are going to show up for the $$ and are not going to risk anything. Why do they even make this fight.

Why would Roy fight Tarver again? There's no point.

And as far as Hopkins goes, I just think it's a personal score he wants to settle and if he does, that'll be good enough for him.

**** HBO for doing this!

Hopkins hasnt been a warrior since he left the ring against Tito and Jones...**** him too!

The sad part is that the normal sports fan will think this fight is the absolute mecca fight in boxing when that couldnt be farther from the truth.

I hope both of them fight like complete p[ussies (which they will) and their legacies continue to take hits.

People wanted to see this after Hopkins beat Tito but Jones was playing hard to get.

Jones loses a lot of respect in rational peoples' minds.

Welcome back, ****** trash, how goes it?

Jones offered Hopkins $6 million to fight, and Hops turned it down. Hops ego was too big for a 60-40 split that would've given him $6 million. So, you just lost what little credibility you have with those idiotic statements.

Secondly, for you to call Jones a "*****" is laughable. Jones is an all time great, who happens to be gun shy in his old age like many fighters. Being gunshy of a guy who dropped you with one shot is understanable, and even then, Jones had more moments than most thought he would have in the 3rd fight, managed to stun Tarver a bit, and even walked Tarver down even after Tarver hurt him badly. You're head is up your ass, nash, as usual. Maybe you should start your own community for ****** asshats like yourself.

To comment on the fight...well, Hopkins runs these days and Roy isn't near what he used to be, so I'm not going to buy this fight. I'll catch the replay though and Jones could do himself a favor finishing his career with win vs a recent p4p king. Aditionally, anyone who bets on a Hopkins KO is out of their mind. Hopkins isn't the same guy he was 3 years ago, and his power is average at 160. It will be next to nothing at 175.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Hopkins differs with the additional pounds on him. If it was at Super middle I'd lean on Hopkins, but at Light Heavy I give it about 50/50 at the moment since I've got no idea how either will come into the fight.

I love Roy but, I just don't see him pulling this one off sadly. I am going with B-Hop UD. Hopkins is too smart of a fighter for Roy now, and Roy no longer has his reflexes that made him what he once was.
