It was all signed and sealed for Dec 91 for Benn to challenge Harding for the world light-heavyweight title in Glasgow, but Benn fell out with Ambrose Mendy and it fell through.

Had it taken place, would Harding of won a single round and would he of got through the first three minutes without blood on his face?

Remember, Rod Douglas (who Benn had beaten in the 165 final of the 86 London ABA's) easily beat Harding in the 165 final of the 86 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.

Jeff Harding proved that he was nothing short of a warrior...and the bigger the fight, the more heart he showed......Harding would have won this fight a close decision or late TKO!

Benn would of boxed his ears off (and his ribs).

Harding was a tough, tough guy. Tons of energy, could take a big punch. He was a bit odd in the sense that he had little power while punching to the head, but hit with power to the body. He was also a bad bleeder, & had no defense whatsoever.

He was soundly betaen by an aged & above-his-best-weight Mike McCallum, so he could be outboxed.

If Benn fought smart, there's a good chance he'd outpoint Harding. Benn would not KO Harding.
If Benn went in & brawled, he'd have been ground down by the bigger guy & stopped late.

I think Benn would do what he needed to win, ultimately, & chosen to fight smart.

NOTE :

JUYJUY.....do you have any idea how meaningless it is to discuss amateur matchups, when concerning pros ?
You are so lame, especially in this case....because you don't even discuss an amateur bout between the two combatants in this fantasy match....but on a common opponent of their's !
Ridiculous !

FFS, it's boxing dude. Those who are successful in amateur boxing are usually successful in pro boxing, and vice-versa. It's still ****ing boxing, it does count for something.

I havn't seen much of Harding but i do remember him from the fights with Andries and he seemed strong and tough.Lb for Lb he wasnt in the same league as Benn, but if they met i would have gone for Harding by late stoppage. He would have been just that bit too big for Benn imo.
