My lord, this would simply be a complete slaughtering of Mayorga. The only similarity between these two are their ferociousness, and Duran still dwarfs Mayorga in this category.

Duran chooses whichever way he wants to take Mayorga apart. He could outbox him or brawl. I think he elects to fight on the inside and breaks Mayorga down and stops him in the early-mid rounds.

what weight class would this take place in?

147 I would imagine, even though Duran was at his bet at 135

Its an insult to even mention Mayorga in the same breath as Duran. Like cple said Duran beats him and takes him out anytime he wants

The problem with match-ups like this one is the question of What is prime Mayorga??

We can't tell yet because he could go on to beat Tito , DLH, and Hopkins and the whole perspective changes. Or he could (and will  ) get blasted out by Tito tonight and never be heard from again. In that case, the perspective doesn't change at all.

As of right now, prime Duran would give him a prolonged, ugly beating.

This fight would not be pretty. They would be best to meet at 140 or 147...Duran crushes Mayorga either way. Mayorga's chin is great but his ferocity and power are a bit over hyped in my opinion. He's no where near as crazy as Roberto (I KO horses for fun) Duran.

As a lightweight @135, Roberto Duran was simply invincible 43-Wins (34-KO's) 1-Loss 0-Draws (to Esteban de Jesus in the 1st of their trilogy) and 12 title defenses. He was beating up everybody at 147 welterweight that included SRL's scalp. Though he wasn't that powerful a puncher anymore at 154 light middleweight, he still can brawl amongst the best in this weight class that included Wilfred Benitez (RD lost by UD), Pipino Cuevas and Davey Moore (that was an ugly beating BTW!)...but was later KTFO'd by Thomas Hearns.

IMO, Mayorga has a puncher's chance of beating him at 154. At 147 however, Duran's ring smarts and aggressiveness (constant pressure & volume punching) will be too much for him to handle.

Duran beats Mayorga in a slugfest. With both their styles, there is no doubt that this would be a war. Duran had the ability to box, but his pride/manhood wouldn't allow him to against Mayorga.

Duran is league's ahead of Mayyorga though, he achieved so much more.

In today's boxing, fighters can become stars with one win. This is how Mayorga made his name. He wins a couple of fights and then everyone gets carried anyway.

True greatness is proved over time. The modern p4p rankings are total bullshit, because there changing all the time. Very few fighters seem to be able to string a number of wins together, and that's because their not really great fighters. They fight for money, and not their legacy.

Duran was a true fighter, he fought for love of the sport.

Duran would eat Mayorga alive, but only after getting some himself. :)

This would have to be a pound for pound match up. Looking at both at their best Duran absolutely kills Mayorga. Worst beating than Tito gave Mayorga.

P4P or not, Roberto pummels Mayorga. I'd take the Duran that beat Leonard over any version of Mayorga.

fantasy fights should be between equally talented fighters, not this one! there's no question duran would eat mayorga.

Roberto and Ricardo are two great punchers but Duran has better defence...

I think Duran TKO 10-12.

Duran would win easily. IMO his the bigger puncher, and there is no doubt he has MUCH better defence. Though it would be a great fight to watch. But in saying this, it wouldn't be much of a contest. It would just be a short fight with both fighters throwing power shots, but Durans' ones actually landing.

Duran TKO/KO in the early rounds. I'd sy before 5.

The fact that the question of who would win between these two even came up is about as shocking as it would be if Mayorga even won around against Duran, let alone an entire fight. Who are we kidding here, Duran wipes the floor with this guy in two.

Duran would take this easliy but it would still be one of the greatest fights ever cuz even it would last at least 8 rds with nothing but bombs coming from both sides

A complete mismatch I think. Duran batters Mayorga until the ref steps in and saves his life.

Why do you continue to hit the pipe? We are talking about Roberto Duran of Panama right?

Roberto unloads on this club fighter with the same intensity that Michael Jackson thinks about 8 year olds.

Roberto wins in quick and brutal fashion and Michael goes directly to jail.

I cant believe anyone would actually bet against duran. Duran had amazing defence, great chin and power in both hands. Tons of skill. Duran would beat Mayorga to death.

duran obviously
but given 147 was not his weight and mayorga's chin i'll give mayorga making the distance and losing every round

duran would out brawl, out fight, out box mayorga i dont think it would take all that long for him to win, it would be fun to watch for as long as it goes tho

Made a the pic a while ago I think it would look just like it does here with Mayorga being knocked around the ring and outboxed in every way.

DURAN would kill mayorga... hands of steel would dominate in an early KO VICTORY... :)
