Undefeated (regular) WBA junior middleweight champion, "Tremendous" Travis Simms contacted **********.com to put the boxing world on notice that he's ready willing and able to face Felix Triniad asap. April 9 is fine with Simms who feels that Trinidad would be the perfect fight for him to take his career to the next level. "Boxing is my life, and I follow this game very closely. I knew that Trinidad was out of opponents because Felix Sturm opted not to take the fight and Winky Wright is complaining over $4M, which is more money than he's made in his whole career. With that being said, I want to fight Felix Trinidad and Don King won't have to work to hard to make it happen. I don't need what Winky was turning down. All fighters want to get paid $4M, but that's not my goal here, my goal here is to fight the best and take advantage of the opportunity of fighting somebody like Tito Trinidad."

"This fight would be about legacy and showing the world that I'm the best pound for pound fighter out there."

GL: Have you informed DKP of your desire to fight Trinidad?

Travis Simms: "Out of all the available guys I think I'm the most available guy. It would be a honor to fight Trinidad, I have a lot of respect for Trinidad and I think it would be a great fight that the fans wouldn't forget. I'm not going to make any ridiculous demands, the difference is the PPV numbers between Trinidad-Wright and Trinidad-Simms is minimal so we could make this happen, and it wouldn't be all that difficult for Don.

"To answer your question, we have place several calls to DKP but we're still waiting to hear back from them. They know I want to fight the best, I'm just here to tell the world that I'm ready to fight Trinidad now and the best fight DKP could make is right under his nose.

GL: So even though Winky Wright has two wins over Shane Mosley, you still don't think Trinidad-Wright does much more PPV than Trinidad-Simms?

TS: "As far as I'm concerned, wins over Mosley don't validate that he's the best guy in our division. Any of the top five in this division would beat Mosley. He's a small welterweight fighting at a heavier weight. I would've loved to fight Winky Wright to prove that I'm the best junior middleweight in the world, but he doesn't want to fight me.

"Now he's acting like those fighters he criticized for years, but it's all good. He seems to be ducking Trinidad too, but I'm ready to step in for him there and then after I beat Trinidad it'll be on to Winky.

GL: Of course, you would have no problem moving up to middleweight to fight Trinidad, correct?

TS: "No problems at all. I'm ready to make it happen. My lawyer has already spoken to the Trinidad's lawyer and the Trinidads will fight anybody as long as they're getting $10M minimum. Now it's time for DKP to step up to the plate and make the fight before he has to push Trinidad's date back again.

The guy still has unfinished business with García in my opinion, but I can't think of a better way of taking heat away from that situation than by calling out Tito. LOL What balls!

I hope it comes off for him, even though I dont think he has even the remotest of chances. Tito will bust him up badly, undefeated or not.

At 33, he's no spring chicken either (although he's probably a young 33 for a fighter). Fighting Trinidad makes sense for him, chances like this wont come around that often.

“Tarvis Simms is scared to fight Chad Dawson,” says CES boss Jimmy Burchfield. “He should wear yellow trunks, or maybe a skirt. All he does is trash talk, telling everybody what he’d do to Dawson, but Simms has turned down what most likely is the most lucrative purse of his career to fight Chad.”

CES offered Simms a main event fight against WBC Youth middleweight champion Dawson (15-0, 10 KOs) on December 10 at Foxwoods Resort Casino and on CN8/The Comcast Network.

Dawson-Simms would be one of the biggest fights in recent New England history, particularly at Foxwoods, where both fighters live in Connecticut – Dawson in New Haven, Simms in Norwalk.

“He’s used every excuse imaginable not to take this fight,” an irate Burchfield continued.
“Simms is all talk. Let him prove he can beat Chad in the ring, not on the Internet. First, he said he and Chad were friends, too close to fight. This is boxing; it’s a business. No two fighters are closer than Chris Byrd and Jameel McCline and they’re fighting each other Saturday night. Chad understands that and he’s willing to fight his ‘so-called’ friend.

“Real friends, though, don’t say what Simms has said about Chad. Then they said Simms wouldn’t fight Chad at Foxwoods because he was worried about the officials, implying that Chad would get a hometown decision. We reminded Tarvis that he was from Connecticut, too. We even offered to let him bring in officials from New York – with the approval of the commission (Mashantucket Pequot Athletic Commission).

“Oh, yeah, the latest is he doesn’t want to fight on another promoter’s card.”

“He’s in camp with a great trainer Marshall Kaufman, who also trains with Kermit Cintron, so there is not excuse that he could not be ready.”

“Come on, he’s 33 years old and only three of his 19 fights were against guys with winning records. Look at his record. His opponents have a combined record of 133-351. We’ve offered him an opportunity to prove himself in a main event against a fighter he’s bragged about beating silly, in his home state for the biggest purse of his life by far. What’s the problem? Real fighters fight. Chad Dawson is ready, Tarvis Simms is all talk.”

Do you have to be an elite fighter to beat Trinidad, or do you have to be a smart fighter?

Simms is a JOURNEYMAN.
He only has a title because the fool who was beating him backed out with his hands down....thinking the referee was breaking a clinch.

Simms does not deserve a fight with Trinidad....& if he did get it, he'd be destroyed within two rounds.
