View Full Version : Valuev vs. Golota... please tell me its a joke.
Hitman932 12-20-2005, 12:11 PM if valuev makes his first title defense against andrew golota it will mean that golota has fought and lost to in succession.
byrd for the IBF title
ruiz for the WBA title
brewster for the WBO title
and now valuev for the WBC title??
that means he will have fought for all 4 titles in the last 2 years without winning a single one and without winning a single fight in between.
if this fight goes off im not sure how much longer i can be a fan of the heavyweights, this is just total and complete bull**** if valuev fights golota.
also, look at golotas career record for a moment
http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=004345
it appears to me that he has "never" beaten a top ten fighter in his entire career, with maybe the exception of nicholson in 1996 (if he was even top 10). since beating nicholson he has lost or drawn in every major bout he has fought. his best victory since 1996 was over orlin norris who everyone knows is a cruiserweight.
golota has a record of 10-6-1 since beating nicholson in 96.
correct me if im wrong, has golota ever beaten a legit top 10 fighter?

You mean the WBA title.
Hitman932 12-20-2005, 12:18 PM You mean the WBA title.
yeah sorry bout that, shoulda realized it was the same one he fought ruiz for, too many ABC's y'know?
badblood 12-20-2005, 12:20 PM yeah sorry bout that, shoulda realized it was the same one he fought ruiz for, too many ABC's y'know?
Yup. I wonder what ever happened to the IBO title??
Red_Menace 12-20-2005, 12:22 PM Yup. I wonder what ever happened to the IBO title??
Somebody left it in a taxi and nobody bothered going to look for it.
!!Captain 12-20-2005, 12:24 PM This is all that devil's doing. Don King has been trying to bring fresh blood to the division for years, trying to dispose of his "champions". I think Golota was supposed to win vs. Brewster, except Brewster took the matter into his own hands.
I don't know about you all, but it appears to me that King has been trying to bring a white champion to the division for the longest time, each time failing. He's been after Klitschkos for years, then Golota, now Valuev. He is a sneaky devil, looks like Valuev is his best bet and will be here for a while. I doubt that he is going to match Valuev vs. Golota though, he is much more interested in milking Valuev for his next 4 fights, not dispose of him immediately. That would involve Golota losing, which doesn't make sense.

It must have been Lennox Lewis.

LOL LOL LOL :D

Don King probably gave it to Andrew Golota.
did you look over golotas record dude? i was amazed to see he has never really beaten anyone good. i know that hes had some questionable decisions aginst him and he was beating bowe but damn, this guy has been done as a major player for awhile and don king is now pumping him more chances than he ever couldve dreamed of even in his prime.

i got it. but nobody buys it on e-bay..
SuckaPunch 12-20-2005, 12:25 PM Golota's bid for being a heavyweight champion and never being successful...
byrd for the IBF title
ruiz for the WBA title
brewster for the WBO title
lewis for the WBC title
grant for the NABF title
I really believe that Golota should be in the Guinness Book of World Records. "The Ultimate Loser" in the history of sports. :D
badblood 12-20-2005, 12:28 PM Don King probably gave it to Andrew Golota.

He just shows up and collects paychecks, if he wins he wins, if he loses, then he'll just get another title shot next month cause his name is Andrew Golota.
xzworks 12-20-2005, 12:30 PM But golota is always No.2 in all abc belts.. he always got a shot.. maybe he always won the royal rumble...
Hitman932 12-20-2005, 12:31 PM I don't know about you all, but it appears to me that King has been trying to bring a white champion to the division for the longest time, each time failing. king has been trying to bring a non-klitschko white champion to the division for years is what you should say....
i didnt think it made much sense myself as a matchup but i saw a thread saying that it was going to happen. you know king will not put valuev in with another champion, or james toney, or wlad klitschko. so that only leaves a select few people to match him with, and golota would be one that king could make $$ off of.
like i said it my previous post, golota hasnt won an imortant fight in almost ten years. i can see king feeding golota to the beast and being rid of him forever, he has a better toy now.

Exactly.

yeah its almost ****in bizarre, and as i stated in my first post, and nobody has objected yet, golota has never in his entire career defeated a top 10 ranked heavyweight.
badblood 12-20-2005, 12:38 PM The last time he beat a top 10 guy was when he fought this guy. (http://www.boxrec.com/record005135.html)

I read in a few articles how King was trying to sign both Klitschkos before they got the belts. He invited them to his home, etc, etc, etc. I'm sure you all read the story. I don't think Golota is going to bring the money any more. The guy lost 3 title fights in a row, do you think anyone would care to see his forth title fight? I know I will not pay a dime to see it, it's outright pathetic.
ejk22 12-20-2005, 01:04 PM I was a huge fan of Golota's but that joke of a display he put forth against Brewster killed that for me. I just wish he retired after the Brewster fight like he said he would.

i simply meant golota would bring king more money cause he is King's fighter. golota is probably the only guy he promotes that he will be willing to let valuev fight. i didnt mean that golota/valuev was a lucrative matchup, simply that king was going to look to matchup valuev with another fighter that he promotes, which could very well be golota, especially if its gonna happen in europe.

yeah i had that in my original post that nicholson was probably the only one and i have no way of verifying whether he was even top ten at the time.

You're right, it would be pretty big in Europe. I'm not sure that Valuev would want to fight Golota, what does he gain from it? I actually read on Russian boxing news site that Valuev said he wants to fight Wlad next year.
BoxingPromoter 12-20-2005, 03:34 PM In mid November we were discussing unification tournaments, now we're discussing a possible matchup between the "big let down(Valuev)" and the "chronic underachiever(Golota)" as a title fight.
The division has really hit a new low! Just when things were getting better, they took a turn for the worse!

how reliable is the site?? that would be crazy.
if wlad were to win either the IBF or WBO a unification bout with valuev would be ****in huge, no pun intended.
Golota would actually win this match-up.
I know, I'm shocked too.

It's pretty reliable since it was an interview with Valuev and it was something Valuev said himself.
