View Full Version : Paul Malignaggi... hype or good fighter?
BLOODSHED 12-19-2005, 02:49 AM I met this doo earlier this year at O'Hare in Chicago. He was a cool cat. I always liked watching him fight. Very slick. He doesn't have KO power but hes a lot more interesting to watch than right.
I think he could be a champ if his hand was so fragile.

ChrististheAnswer2 12-19-2005, 02:56 AM I'm a big fan of Paul Malignaggi, I think the guy is a damn good fighter with mad skills. His biggest problem is his fragile hands, before he broke his hand after his last fight he was really moving up the junior welter weight ranks.
No doubt this guy has the tools, but his body may prevent him from being a champion.
BLOODSHED 12-19-2005, 03:13 AM Yeah, he's really slick. I like him a lot.

AREALFIGHTER 12-19-2005, 03:38 AM You did not give more options on your poll bro so I will not register my vote. He is A solid PROSPECT he hurt his carrer by doing that show. He was doing good in REAL BOXING. Yes his name is out there in the realm of people who could careless about boxing. The Contender was just televison intertainment for most viewers who are not real folowers of the sport. I knew who Ishe smith and Manfredo and brinkly were befor anyone dreamed up that bull****. Ishe had just beat baily before he went on that show and was in line for a title within the next 8 moneths but the camera got to him and now hw is nothing fighting no one and manfredo thinks he can take pemb early next year. Pemb isn't done yet and manfredo will have 9 seconds to figure that out not to mention the between rounds. Both are ****ing posers that were blinded by the prospect of money they never got. If they had stayed in the real game both would be prime to take a belt in their divisons if not holding it already

deuce_drop 12-19-2005, 03:41 AM dude is all hype, when he gets into the ring with a world class fighter he's going to get crushed. all he fights are over the hill bums or young guys not ready to be fighting at his level yet. he calls out the weakest guys, has feather fists, and gets his hands hurt every fight. he has speed, but when you fight chumps it's easy to look good.
wait til he fights someone of a world calss level, he's going to get wrecked and then fall off the map.........he bugs me too, yep i'm hating!!!
AREALFIGHTER 12-19-2005, 03:44 AM The kid is good but he has brittle hands AKA mayweather a few years ago. The kidd is speed speed and skill and ****y but ****y that can back up his mouth I think I would like to see him be a champ he has had soooooooooooo much hype lets see if he can really bring it
horca 12-19-2005, 05:10 AM ive only seen this guy fight once. confident to the point of ****iness. i like him though.
run_for_your_effing_life 12-19-2005, 08:03 AM I like his style dude is slick as hell......very fast good defence he still has a lot to prove like his chin and his power. If he can keep those hands healty and take a punch he could go a long way

BLOODSHED 12-19-2005, 09:38 AM Same here, shoots down the common belief that slick fighters are only African American.

Bombardier 12-19-2005, 12:51 PM I think his ****iness is partly an act to intimidate his opponents and psyche himself up before a fight. In the one post-fight interview I've seen of him he was really quite humble. What ImSoFlyy said about meeting him seems to confirm this.
He's a hell of an interesting fighter to watch, the way he gets those quick jabs in that still seem to do damage. Will have to see him against better caliber opponents before making a final judgment on his prospects, though, and like a lot of guys have said already hopefully injuries won't continue to bother him.
mic573 12-19-2005, 01:28 PM I would have to see him step up against a halfway decent opponent first. The only times I have seen him were against no-hopers.
The kids hands are beyound fragile and he has no KO power, so he's got those 2 very important things going against him.
I've seen about 5 of his fights and I do think he is a talented kid, and that he has potential, but I just don't think it'll be enough to overcome those 2 huge flaws he has in his game.
BLOODSHED 12-19-2005, 02:21 PM Exactly and the crowds were booing him, like they booed Naseem. Dude is entertaining.

My gaydar is broken now.
any thread invloving this guys name can only make it about 5 posts before someone calls him a ***. ive never seen so many people insecure in their sexuality in my entire life.
i tell someone to kiss my ass on this forum and their response is always along the lines of "why, what are you gay or something"
in case nobody told you, a a "gaydar" is something that "gay" person has to detect other "gay" people. so its nice to know we have at least one "gay" person on the forum who can sniff them out for everybody else.

BLOODSHED 02-14-2006, 01:24 AM bump my old thread...
-Jay- 02-14-2006, 01:33 AM He has the potential to go far, but we've all seen many fighters who have had potential and gone off the rails. We'll have to wait and see with Paulie here.
ive only seen him fight last friday , but i dont know if he'll be a champ any time soon with all the good fighter in the division.
But he is fun to watch. He should talk **** and showboat some more.

Can this guy beat Castillo at 140?
Or Mayweather or Margarito at 147?
Then who are the geniuses that voted "possible champion"? This kid would be forced to quit on his stool just like Arturo Gatti did.

He fights in a talent-laden division. He would get his ass handed to him by a SLEW of fighters. He hits like a *****. How would he keep top fighters off him?
Castillo, Casamayor, etc, etc..

im guessing the picture of your avvy and his bro wrestling naked broke it, eh?
Dirt E Gomez 02-14-2006, 11:58 AM Light Welter and Welter are simply too good of divisions right now for this featherfisted fraud to obtain a meaningful belt.

The fact that there is so much talent out there provides fighters like malignaggi with opportunities to make a name for themselves. Goodluck to the guy.
JMCbulls 02-14-2006, 12:02 PM good fighter, but no champ

Hah, the only way his name will get out there is by getting his asswhooped by somebody worth a damn.
Burzum_666 02-14-2006, 01:29 PM I won't jump the gun on my opinion about his talent, because he hasn't fought anybody notable enough to say he's good or bad at this point. He clearly has talent, he's fast, good movement. He hits like a ***** and that's a big problem, We'll see how he does in the future. Prospects like this these days seem to take a long goddamn time before stepping up their competition so we probably won't know for sure for another couple of years.
medium-deek 02-14-2006, 01:31 PM how old is he???
SacTown1 02-14-2006, 02:13 PM Paulie is the 2006 version of Macho Camacho
he'll go 50-0 vs. ESPN fighters, and 0-5 vs. world class fighters
