Soundtraveler 01-06-2005, 05:20 PM This weekend features some great games, my personal picks for this weekend are :
Saturday game one - will be the Rams vs the Seahawks.
Saturday game two - will be the JETS vs The Chargers.
I am picking the Seahawks in a close one.
And...
I am picking the J-E-T-S-Jets!Jets!Jets! in the late game, but only because I have to pick one or the other, I really think this is going to be one of the best games this year. The teams are so evenly matched it may just be settled in "OT" - and if that happens, Chargers have the better kicker - hmmm....
After further review, I see the Chargers are at home, therefore the ruling on the field has been overturned - the Chargers will not be charged with a time out....
Soundtraveler 01-06-2005, 05:20 PM Sundays picks to follow....
Green Bay should take down the Vikings, who let's face it, look less than stellar at this years' end and who do not play well in the cold outdoors. I look for it to be close - but no cigar for the Vikes again this year.
Denver, who I have been rooting for all year, has the unfortunate luck in having to face the awsome scoring machine of the Colts in their first playoff chance since Elway. As much of a feel good story season as Denver has had, with my boy Rueben Draugns coming from out of nowhere to lead the team in rushing and all purpose yards, I just don't see a way for them to keep up with the Manning powered offense of the Colts. I say the Colts blow away Denver and keep on rolling to the Superbowl.
dodge 01-06-2005, 06:03 PM I'm rooting for Seattle but I'm picking The Rams. I'm picking The Chargers over the Jets.
Boxerdog 01-06-2005, 06:08 PM A good wildcard weekend, no doubt.
The toughest to pick is probably Rams/Seahawks. I'll guess that Holmgren activates Koren and the extra weapon is the difference.
Jets and Chargers are teams going in opposite directions with S.D. playing better at the time it counts most. N.Y. barely beat them in week 2 and this late in the season the Jets age at R.B. shows against a tough run defence. Chargers grind it out.
Sunday the Vikes stumble on the grass at Lambeau Field again and the Colts have fun against a thoroughly out-classed Bronco's team.
The Fix 01-06-2005, 09:17 PM im taking seatle, san diego, green bay and the colts.
san diego is a really balanced team. they have brees, tomlinson, gates, parker and mcardell on offense. they also have a good defense with donnnie edwards holding it down.
mijoung 01-07-2005, 01:32 AM Hawks-Chargers-Packers-Colts (Broncos fan here, but last years colts broncos playoff matchup gives me very little hope they'll do any better this year)
Explosivo 01-07-2005, 09:41 AM The Seahawks are so inconsistent that you never know whos going to show up. Sorry Dodge, but I have to go with the Rams.
Being a Chargers fan, of course Im going with the Bolts over the Jets in the late game. We should by all means beat this Jets team, but as we all know, anything can happen and San Diego is getting hit with a major rain storm starting today until Tuesday so that will make the playing conditions rough.
Soundtraveler 01-07-2005, 02:13 PM Are there only 6 of us interested in NFL action this weekend?!
Explosivo 01-07-2005, 03:39 PM I predict that after a Chargers win this weekend, the Bolts travel to Pittsburgh and knock of the Steelers next weekend. I am also staying with my prediction that the Eagles loose their first playoff game.
Hawks-Chargers-Packers-Colts (Broncos fan here, but last years colts broncos playoff matchup gives me very little hope they'll do any better this year)
Im from Seattle and could give a **** about the seahawks, I am a loifelong Bronco fan and the Broncos are the only thing that
I refuse to talk aqbout with an open intelligent mind.
Denver will control the ball with Bell and Droughns and JAke will play mistake free football hooking up on a deep ball or two to
Lelie.
The Denver defense was 4th overall in the league and if they can force a 3 and out ot two early denver is there till the end winning a game the chargers couldn't win in week 15.
Put aside my bias for a second...take Denver and the 10 points, it's a lock!
GO BBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soundtraveler 01-07-2005, 04:02 PM Scrap - you actually think Denver will be able to hang with Manning and the Colts?! I sure can't see it happening, I wish they had drawn another team out of the gate for the playoffs, anyone but the Colts in the 1st round!
HEy
I completely agree you could not have a worse draw in the league...there is not a team in the enitre league that would be favored against the Colts in Indy...however the Broncos will win period!
I feel it in my heart...the first two colts offensive possessions will tell the story...if the colts are held to 0 or 3 points on there first two possession Denver and the running game will take serious effect...again it's all about those first two possessions...
Look for Tatum Bell to break out and let everyone in the league know who the starting tailback for the Broncos will be next season...I expect 170 yards from Bell, the astro turf is always the Colts best friend but I am looking forward to watching Bell on the turf as well.
Jake has to be mistake free...the D must get the colts off the field in the first drive or two and Bell and Droughns need to control the clock....
In Shanhan I trust!
Don't worry Soundtraveler once Denver wins on Sunday the entire league will be doing a flip flop...beating the Colts twice in a row will vault the Broncos into a u pickem for the Super Bowl...Going to Pittsburgh to face Big Ben will look like a piece of cake compared to going into Indy.
Denver 31 Indy 17, in a game that earily resembles last years Bronco victory!
tracylee 01-07-2005, 04:24 PM As for this weekend, I've gotta go with the Rams over the Seahawks....the Chargers over the Jets....the Colts over the Broncos (I think it's a fluke they're even in the playoffs personally :o ..the Broncos, that is)...nd the Packers over the Vikings!!

...I don't care for the Broncos and I can't stand Shanahans toofy face but I also have a feeling that an upset is in order. Peyton was starting to lose steem a couple of weeks ago and looked to be cooling down. The Lynch hit sent a message and the Colt receivers are gonna have their heads on a swivel wondering where Lynch is. I smell an upset!!
As for this weekend, I've gotta go with the Rams over the Seahawks....the Chargers over the Jets....the Colts over the Broncos (I think it's a fluke they're even in the playoffs personally :o ..the Broncos, that is)...nd the Packers over the Vikings!!
Let's see a fluke that Denver reached the playoffs...ah no, no fluke there...who did you want to see in the playoffs Jacksonville (lost there last two), Buffalo? Define fluke Mrs/Ms. Lee?
Hell the Broncos would have won two divisions in the NFC and been hosting a home playoff game...Seattle, St. Louis now those are flukes, not my beloved Broncos my dear.
Pbds-good man, I like what you said about Manning... another thing is that no one gives them a prayer on Sunday...last year Denver had just whipped the Colts and a lot of people thought that with a healthy Clinton Portis back they would control the game even more and win again...this year they are supposed to be squashed and in my mind they are a better football team than last year...
We will see, keep in mind I am the biggest Bronco homer ever, all of my words come straight from my heart and Im telling you what my heart has been beating iregularly for about three days now...this unique heartbeat has only happened to me once before and that was two days before Denver was playing Green Bay in the Super Bowl...this beat is just like that one!
Fluke my ass, Go Broncos!
SonnyG8R 01-07-2005, 05:42 PM If I were a betting man, which I am occassionally, I would bet my cash as follows:
St. Louis @ Seattle -4
St. Louis $100
N.Y. Jets @ San Diego -7
San Diego wins but does not cover
N.Y. Jets $50
Denver @ Indy -10
Indy goes hog wild on the broncos
Indy $100
Minnesota @ Green Bay -6.5
Green Bay wins but does not cover
Minnesota $50

I will not speak about your betting my dear Broncos...I dont want you to win that game but
I wll give you some advice on the ST Louis/Seattle game...
I am from Seattle and hate the Seahwaks, with that said it is supposed to Snow tonight and tommorrow turning normally rainy Seattle into a winter wonderland. With that said I believe the Rams will struggle in the cold...can they still win of course Seattle is horrible, but they are no more horrible than the rams are....Based soley upon the Weather be weary of betting the rams...I would pass on this game but if there is an edge it is Seattle, the hometeam playing in miserable weather.

Good points. Seattle could pull out a win on the cold, sloppy field. Both teams have a good running game and the rams 'd' seems to be better these last few weeks. Seattle could win, but I just don't think they will win by 5 or more.
SonnyG8R 01-07-2005, 06:01 PM Everyone check out my bookie thread. You can place bets on all or any of the games this weekend. I can afford to take most bets. :D
tracylee 01-07-2005, 06:14 PM Those are my picks to babe.
cool ;)
SCAP, what I meant when I said fluke is I dont think anyone expected them to make it to the playoffs considering how poorly theyve played all year. So yeah, I consider it a big stroke of luck that theyre in, and also expect to see them go right back out after losing to the colts.
As for who did I want in the playoffs, I honestly dont care. As long as my steelers made it that was all I was concerned with...I'm not worried about any of the teams they could possibly come up against; I have absolute faith in them and what they can accomplish ;) I see them beating New England AGAIN, no problem!
Tracy, a female on a boxing site...god, allah, moses or whoever...they gotta love you!!!
The Broncos have played ****ty in stretches or sort of...they went to San Diego a couple weeks back and Jake threw 4 pics one on the 3 with 2 minutes left and they lost by 3 holding Drew Brees to 107 yards passing....Griffin fumbled away the ball against the Jaguars in week 2-Elam would have had a point blank shot at the win...the only real meltdown they had was against KC, you can make a case that the monday nighter against Cincy was a meltdown but they still had a chance for most of that game.
they have played bad but many times good enough to win...they are in the top six in almost every statisitcal category you can think of including Rushing and Defense which may be the two most important statistics...had they have been in the NFC they would be looking at a 1,2 or 3 seed not a six.
most experts were torn at the beginning of the year as to who would win the AFC West, Denver or KC...no matter who they picked almost all of them had the second place team as a wild card...so fluke again I think you nned to look that one up...
Forget football for a sec, what did you think of the HBO Latino last night, that is consistently one of the best boxing programs on tv....little abmner looks to be the goods!

Actually, being a female has been more of a disadvantage than an advantage..I mean, if I had joined for the attention, the come-on's and all around ego boosts, then sure, there would be an advantage in that. However, considering the real reasons I joined (to learn more about the sport, and to have people to talk to about the sport since none of my friends like it), it took me forever to get taken seriously, and I had to prove myself over and over by making good, sensible, fact filled posts about boxing, just to prove that I did know the sport and the way it works. I dont know it all, hell, I'll die not knowing half of what I had hoped to learn. In the beginning I made a vow to myself to try and learn the sport, inside and out. I'm still working on that..but you gotta understand what it's like being a female that is not here for the flattery and crap..but to talk boxing and learn. Being taken serious took time and work..it damn sure didnt come easy. I only know that I'm being taken serious cause I'm told that on a regular basis, and although some people here may not like me, I've yet to be told that my opinion on the sport (or a particular fight) is stupid, lame or downright female..so, I must be doing something right.
In all fairness I've only seen Denver play a few times this season, and each time they did not impress. So, I'm hardly the right person to judge....I was merely going by what I had seen on them.
As for the HBO Latino...its awesome! I'm amazed at the fact that the first two fights each had a guy making his pro debut, yet both fights were great..with alot of blood and viciousness!
The main event paled in comparison..big time, but lately I've found that to be the case quite often.
And yes, Abner is one mean mother...he'll go far, I think! ;)
I meant no harm in my comments of you being a female, I could give a ****...you could be a one eyed one horned flying people purple eater for all I care...you talk boxing which is good enough for me.
I thought the third fight on HBO latino was certainly the best...both guys having there moments and then just when you thought Lopez had the fight all wrapped up he got all wrapped up!
I hope you get a chance to watch the Broncos, hopefully they w2ill provide you and I with a super playoff moment...the defintiion of great could be quite varied...a win will send me thru the roof, just remember when Denver plays that there are people like me out there who will live and die by it...root for me and my Broncos!
Boxerdog 01-07-2005, 11:48 PM ... you can make a case that the monday nighter against Cincy was a meltdown but they still had a chance for most of that game.
Easy now, dawg!
Cincy is the BEST team that will be watching this **** on the tube! They were in a LOT of their losing effort games to the end!
Just as they were LAST year.
I am proud of my boys!!

I didnt take offense or think you meant any harm...I was just explaining what it was like being the only female that posts on a regular basis.
The third fight had it moments for sure, and I was shocked when Lopez just QUIT with little more than a minute left in a fight that I think he already had won! He seemed clear headed after the knockdown, so I didnt expect him to quit
As for Denver, we shall see! :D

I really love the fan loyalty in Ohio, wether it is College or the Pros, they love their teams, I was a huge Reds fan back in the day when it was Bench behind the plate, with Morgan and Rose and all the rest of the Big Red Machine!
You had to love the "Dog Pound" of Cleveland, and those Bengals fans can throw a tailgate party too!
Dr.Depravity 01-08-2005, 03:00 PM A fellow Bronco lover on the site! Finally. Broncos lost a lot of close games. The losses to San Diego and the raiders were heart wrenching. How do you feel about Plummer scap? Ive got a love hate relationship going...bout the same for ever other bronco fan I presume. However he bested Elways best stat year. Confusing, I know. If Denver could get just a little pressure on the quarterback, their Defense would be top notch. Broncos all the way!
Boxerdog 01-08-2005, 07:12 PM You had to love the "Dog Pound" of Cleveland, and those Bengals fans can throw a tailgate party too!
You have NO idea bro! The year that the Bengals went to the Superbowl against San Fran, my father in law (at the time) hand painted a brand new van he had bought with orange and black stripes!
I thought, "Yep! I've found a family!" :D
Soundtraveler 01-09-2005, 04:40 AM I had a feeling this would be a great game tonight and I was so close in the 1st place that I can't believe I didn't stick to my 1st vision of the result from the opening of this thread this is what I said at least in part:
I am picking the J-E-T-S-Jets!Jets!Jets! in the late game, but only because I have to pick one or the other, I really think this is going to be one of the best games this year. The teams are so evenly matched it may just be settled in "OT" - and if that happens, Chargers have the better kicker - hmmm....
How is that for calling it?! Sometimes I have to wonder why I don't trust my own intuition more often! -- DAMN IT!!
Soundtraveler 01-09-2005, 04:19 PM I thought the Colts would win the game, but DAMN, 49 - 24 ass kicking is just INSANE!
I don't see the Patriots keeping up with this Colts team this year. This team is better than last year on BOTH sides of the ball.
I say the Colts will win by 14 at least next week....

On to next season...man I can't see anyone beating the Colts...I think we just saw a preview of what will happen in the next three football games they play.
They will score 60 points against any NFC team...
As for Jake, man I just don't ****in know...I want Denver to pick up Rich Gannon....I know he is old but I think Shanahan and Gannon are made for each other...I was hoping that in the offseason the Raiders were going to release him, now with his injury that is a lot more likely....get Gannon and cut Jake...I know Gannon may be old and injury prone but it is a gamble we have to take.
Plummer is fine outside of the pocket, inside the pocket is another story and you can't roll out every ****ing play, the defense is going to get you eventually.
GET RICH GANNON!!! Bronco fans unite!!!!

Thats interesting, getting Gannon. I think you have a good point. Hes a great pocket passer that knows offense. I knew when Jake threw those first couple of passes he didnt have it today. He way too damn sketchy. We need to be consistant at QB. And why didnt Denver just sit in the Zone today!?? they haven pressured a quarter back all year and they think they can blitz Manning?! I guess they did get one sack in there. Man how embarrassing, two years in a row.
Bryght 01-09-2005, 10:35 PM The Broncos are lucky that the Colts didn't score 70 points on them. They certainly could have. Anyway, it was an entertaining ass-beating nonetheless. :D

Thats the impression I got too! Every time I turned around they scored  Unbelievable job Manning and the Colts did!
Soundtraveler 01-10-2005, 12:26 PM The only thing that bothered me about the Vikings game was that pathetic end zone act by Moss, who is really getting out of line, I would bench him for the next game if I were the coach, you have to show some class when you are high profile on national t.v. with so many kids watching your every move.

from what I understand he's been showing his ass alot here lately..walking off the field during the game, etc.. I realize he thinks he's the heart and soul of that team, but enough is enough!
Explosivo 01-10-2005, 01:26 PM All I can say today is "You have to make that kick!"...

It is embarrrassing but I don't think there is a team in the NFL that would have faired better in Indy...
After the Colts had to punt on their first possession we had to take the ball and score a touchdown...it was a must that would have changed the game in a lot of ways. Plummer could not complete a 3rd and 5 or 6 to save his life and those short third down passing plays are done from the pocket...Gannon would be ideal if he is healthy enough...
HAd Denver played Sand Diego they would have been right there, had they have played the Jets they would have been right there...the colts at home are as unbeatable as it gets...
The Colts will roll over New England and roll over the Steelers...after they have done that there will be no need to watch the Super Bowl.
Go BRoncos!

Moss is an idiot there's no doubt but your telling me that Mike Tice should bench him? Anything short of murder Moss plays, on my team, your team and anyone elses team who actually gave a **** about winning.
Class is a great thing to have, I wish all wide outs played like Marvin HArrisson, unfortunately this is not the reality..suggesting a benching of Moss sounds nice, but realistic-even if you were the coach I think you would find it in your heart to play Moss...don't ya think Soundtraveler?
Soundtraveler 01-10-2005, 04:15 PM Well, he would not be a starter if it were my decision, I might put him in after a few series I guess.
Boxerdog 01-10-2005, 04:32 PM Tell you ONE thing...
I bet they deal his ass in the off-season.
Sure there are teams that are desperate for a guy that can catch the damn ball but I believe that there are MORE people who are like Soundtraveler..and ME...
I believe that a guy like this is a cancer on the team. Giving the younger players the wrong idea about what kind of attitude is acceptable. Creating disturbances that hinder FOCUS.
And maybe worst of all, alienating fans.

Last year the Chrgers had David Boston, who was a Moss - type cancer in the locker room. We got rid of him this year and we havent been better. If the Viks loose this week in Philly, they should think about dealing him to another team.
dodge 01-10-2005, 05:14 PM Hey guys. Moss's Little stunt in the endzone didn't piss me off that much. Just a " look at me " sort of deal. What would really piss me off if I were randy's coach, is him walking off the field when the game isn't over. What a slap in the friggin face to the fans and the organization. They should send his ass packing. Him taking plays off? F#ck That.
tracylee 01-10-2005, 05:15 PM Hey guys. F#ck That.
Exactly! Its not any one thing that he's done..its the combination of past stunts, etc..and the potential for future ones ;)
As a Broncomaniac I will take Moss on my team any day of the week..he cares about winning, Terrel Owens on the other hand cares about being the best wide out, having the best numbers...
The Vikings will make the best decision for their orgaqnization and that decision is easy, they win more games with Moss than without him...period. The guy if he stayed healthy was going to have 20+ TD's, thats nuts for a wideout...
NFL is all about winning, you don't get to line up for a field goal for showing class...again it is very nice to have but when your the coach 1 thing matters ultimately and thats did you win or did you loose...if you get rid of Moss you might as well fire yourself right after...no point in prolonging **** after you just got rid of the most talented wide reciever the game has ever seen on account of class...YEah Rice is better but not more talented, certainly not.
Randy in Denver...I kinda like the sound of that...**** class, I would rather have had Al Wilson return a game winning interception then whip his dick out of his pants and Bukkakke Peyton Manning...Sure a lot of you would say trade Wilson....but not Bronco fans and not me...Oh are there any Viking fans that are sick of Moss and want him gone after scoring twice on Sunday?
Im sure there are a couple but no fan who values winning above all else would and thats what I value...winning
This isn't little league, win as a team and loose as a team, win with class loose with class, this is the NFL. Just win baby...a guy like Randy gives you a pretty good shot at that!
Boxerdog 01-10-2005, 07:05 PM blah, blah, blah, blah.....
He's a distraction and he's GONE! Wait and see.
The only way he stays is if the Vikes win it all or lose the big one competitively ...and I don't see it happening.
So if the Vikes lose the big one in a rout he is still gone, yeah right...I will bet you anything Randy Moss stays put...regadless of what happens the rest of the way.
Moss was far less disruptive this year than any other year he was in the league...and now people like you are calling for his head...again I bet you anything you are wrong!
Boxerdog 01-10-2005, 07:44 PM Well it will take a while to resolve but I'm up for betting, points, sig changes, title changes, whatever...
I just really think he has worn out his welcome there.
I say they concentrate on wide-outs on draft day and "c'ya later"!
TheFairPole 01-10-2005, 07:49 PM Well I live here in Minnesota and can tell you right now that Moss ain't goin' anywhere!!! I have been a cynical Vikings fan since 98 and can't stand some of their decision making! The talk here is that it isn't that big a deal. Sure people are discusted by what he did and does but it isn't a surprise. People in Minnesota are different in the fact that they never have the balls to call for someones head. Look how long we kept Dennis Green around even though people were calling for his head for years! Moss will stay even if we are offered a trade like the Herschel Walker one cause the Vikes are ran by a bunch of idiots!
Boxerdog 01-10-2005, 07:51 PM I've got a strong feeling....we'll see.

4) Should the Vikings trade Randy Moss?
80.5% No
19.5% Yes
This is on ESPN.com, granted these are just dumb fans like you and me but it appears that the vast majority think you are overreacting...trading the best wide reciever in the game for what? A moon dance...nope never happen
Soundtraveler 01-10-2005, 07:53 PM Maybe some of his team members will snatch him up in the locker room and smack him around until he gets some sense in that afro from hell head of his!
I mean damn, you would figure 99 million bucks would make a guy a target by some of his linemen who really do all the work but get paid less than half as much as he does!

LEts get this straight I don't like Randy Moss...I probably hate him as much as all of you guys do but facts are facts he is the best wide reciever in the game and he will continue to be for at least five more years...sure his lineman do a great job but Randy is the one guy on that team that when healthy no one in the enitre NFL has an answer for. You don't trade that way....not unless someone is offering you a Heschel Walker type trade.

Ain't NONE of 'em wearing out the "Hamburger Helper", J.D.!! :p
TheFairPole 01-10-2005, 08:01 PM The vikes will never get rid of Moss if they can help it! The Twins on the other hand just keep letting everyone with talent go but they keep winning the division!?!? I am telling you that people here are not making a huge deal about this! Especially after beating The fudge pack! He could have taken a **** on the feild as long as the vikes won! The rivalry between our two states is huge! Most fans here loved the moon deep inside!

That is how I would feel if we beat the pack and I was a diehard Viking fan..he could have **** all over the field just as long as we won...

Exactly! My girlfriend is from Wisconsin and every time the Vikes lose to The Fudge Pack they ****in' rub it in. So they deserve what Moss did as far as I am concerned! Moss' problem in my opinion is with Culpepper! Moss wants the ball more and Culpepper wants to be the star! If they only could figure out how much better they would both be if they learned to really play together!

Yeah he is the best wide reciever in the game, as far a catching the ball, but he doesn't do the other things that the great ones do. Things like run out the play at full speed wether the ball is coming to you or not, he doesn't block that well, not that he has to block much anyway.
But for me, when I think of wide reciever there will always be only one name -- Jerry Rice.
The man has set records that Moss will never touch, and he has more class in the dirt on the bottom of his cleats than Moss will ever have....
jabsRstiff 01-11-2005, 08:03 AM It is embarrrassing but I don't think there is a team in the NFL that would have faired better in Indy...
Go BRoncos!
Didn't the Colts roll over the Broncos in similar fashion in last year's playoffs ?
Watch...they will go to New England, & will get smothered. Just like last year, also.
Soundtraveler 01-11-2005, 01:32 PM I don't see that happening this year Jabs, they don't have their key guy on defense in Ty Law who is injured and won't be playing in fact Patriots don't have either of their cornerbacks.
Manning is going to carve up a bunch of 2nd and 3rd string Patriot defensive players, and if the Colts get past the Patriots, there won't be a team in the league that can stop them from going all the way....

Yes the Colts rolled over the Broncs in similar fashion, now you watch...the Pats don't have a ****ing prayer against this offense unless it snows...this is the greatest passing attack since either the 89 or 94 niners teams...no defense can stop them.
If you would like to bet let me know.
