I'm just curious because I haven't seen him once yet (d/ling some now) and I'm interested to know how informed all these "Ruiz vs. Valuev" posts are.

Seriously, he looks like a bear mauling his prey. He's about the size of a bear and his punches are so slow it's ridiculous. Yet he lands a paw on a guy in the right place and they'll go down.

Watch an episode of "When Animals Attack" involving a bear mauling to prep yourself for the fight this weekend.

I saw him the back end of last year against Gerald Nobles, who looked himself a good prospect (Noble's was disqualified I think?)

He looked imposing because he's huge (around 7ft)and he has a lot of wins and KO's but I dont think he has beaten any real class fighters or even gone the European Championship route and fought any 'local stars'.

He's possibly one to watch though!

I have never seen him fight. Does he hit hard?

Mickey, who do you think is going to win?

I have seen him against Levin and Tisdale. The guy is huge and power or not, some opponents are afraid just to be in front of that thing. He beat Cliff Etienne, who is a decent opponent for his record.

Difficult but Ruiz is small for a heavy and this guy is huge, if Ruiz was a Tyson type fighter with lightening hand and foot speed and power then I would say him but he is not so I will say Valuev simply on strength and size!

He may choke though like Harrison last week???

I agree with you prediction. I believe Ruiz is on the decline. However, if he holds and throws on punch at a time, he might be able to fool the judges.

I think it ends in a DQ......Ruiz is going to start low blowing when the big man starts pounding on the back of his head when he comes in for the hug...............

I saw 5 of his fights and I don't think he is slow at all, in fact he is faster than I expected from a 340 pounds guy. His skills are very basic but he is absolutely huge and could beat Ruiz into submission. As I said before, Valuev should just be leaning on Ruiz every time he hugs and that alone will result in Ruiz being exhausted by the later rounds. Valuev is also known for not liking the opponents hugging him and expresses that by pushing them across the ring. In any event, Ruiz is probably biting more than he can chew.

Seen his fights in Germany.

I think he is to big for Ruiz to have success with his usual holding pushing strategy. If Ruiz can change that i think he has a chance if not i think he will tire a the end of the fight. I go for Valuev on UD.

I haven't seen him fight, but I think Ruiz is just such a bum, it's time for him to get KTFO.

I bet some cash on Valuev, so I hope this bear beats Ruiz into retirement for good!! :boxing:

I agree, he's not all that slow, seems to have a jab, doesnt seem to have much power though. Can throw combo's to the body.
Has basic skills.

I saw that fight and Valuev could KO a bull with that punch. It did land on the back of the head but only because Ettiene was twisting around at the time trying to avoid that punch landing on the jaw. That's why there was never eny protest from Ettiene's camp.

What's his chin like?

I saw him taking pretty solid punches without even flinching but then again, he's never been in there with any top 10 so who knows?

His chin seems to be quite good. His defense is not the best so most fighters have been able to land a shot on his chin but he seems to take them without any real problems.

Thanks for that, Shot. What are you doing with bad K? You seem a sensible kind of guy.

valuev becoming heavyweight champ is as bad for boxing as if john ruiz became middleweight champ being allowed to fight with a 90 pound advantage. considering there has never been a heavy champ over 270 pound id say that a valuev victory is a sad day for heavyweight boxing.
