... having fought Rahman?

I suspect there's an extremely strong chance he will return from retirement when his injuries are healed, and use his WBC Emeritus status to get himself straight back into a title fight.

However, I was discussing this with someone the other day who said that the four-times-delayed Rahman fight could still take place should he do so.

However, if Vitali returns it will probably be around the summer of 2006. By this time I fully expect Hasim to have already lost the title... in fact, I'd say there's an extremely high possibility he'll lose it in his first defence against Toney without ever having won the belt in the ring.

If Vitali came back and did what we always wanted him to in the first place - take on serious opponents and unify the belts - would this ommission from his record still effect his standing in your eyes? Personally I'd say no as I don't regard Rahman as a serious threat anyway... but what say you?

i say this wuestion is based on so many hypotheticals its probably better to not even try and answer it.

but i will anyways......

it would be to his great detriment to never fight rahman if he comes back.

however he doesent have to fight him "first"

if vitali were to win the title it would be detrimental if he were to choose someone other than rahman for an optional defense.

however, i cannot believe that vitali is in any way shape or form afriad of rahman and if he were to return, i believe he would looking to make it right himself even to the extent that he may go out of his way to fight rahman before fighting for a title.

like youve stated, rahman is small time, his name will go down as one of the dumb bastards who lucked his way into the heavyweight title. and i would say itd be a good bet that rahman himself is retired by the end of 2007.

I assume he will return after there is a recognized HW champion that is NOT his brother...go to fight them with hopes of winning and saying he was the top HW of the post LL HW transition era...then retire again

this can turn upp in a very good fight, if vk heals and comes back summer 2006 and fights toney for the tittle, since i dont se rahman beating toney, that would be nice.

his retirment kinda forces him to fight a good fighter to get his tittel back

If Rahman hasn't been once-again humbled, and reains somewhere in the Heavy scene, then Vitali should seek that fight.

unless rahman beats someone real good like toney, byrd, peter, brewster ore ruiz there isn realy much a point for vk to fight him

Detrimental to Vitali's reputation if he returns without fighting Rahman ? :) Of course it will. Infact it is already a shadow over his head now that he is retired.

4 postponment? Jesus! And what transpired will go down the book officially.

It doesn't really matter what you guys think of Rahman and his chances of beating VK, Rahman maybe a BUM for all I care but it won't change the fact that VK docked the guy. :)

Well there was no reason for Lennox Lewis to fear Klitchsko after smashing his face up but people still said he did.

:D Try to be objective and you'll find out why.

Once or twice is acceptable but 4 times? 4 times! Explain how this scenario should go down in the book? That's reality my friend.

You are absolutely right, there's no reason for VK to fear Rahman because I believe he can finish off Rahman within 6 rounds and that makes it worst. 4 times the fight with the guy who's suppose to be easily beaten didn't pushed through.

You call yourself a CHAMP then by all means fight all the most deserving challengers. BUM or not BUM you don't skip anybody. :p

I know boxing is also a business, but with more credibilty goes your marketibility and if these two goes together then it's the fighters STATURE. You earn RESPECT amigo.
