View Full Version : The War on Christmas......
LuKahnLi 12-13-2005, 08:09 PM I know this has been a terrible, and costly war for all of us.
How are we all holding up?
Does anyone have any stories that they would like to share.
It just may relieve some of the trauma.
BLOODSHED 12-13-2005, 08:13 PM Man, Ive heard so much about this topic. I was about to post my neighbors nativity scenes here. I took some pictures on my camera phone. They WENT WAYYY overboard.
Im a Christian but they have about 20 Jesus Christ statues.
LuKahnLi 12-13-2005, 08:16 PM A better question I would like to ask is, in the war on christmas....which side is everyone on?
BLOODSHED 12-13-2005, 08:18 PM Im on the side of mentioning Christmas, because it's Christmas. Far left Liberals have gone too far by trying to eliminate anything remotely Christian from this Holiday season.
Scottie2Hottie 12-13-2005, 08:29 PM Im on the side of mentioning Christmas, because it's Christmas. Far left Liberals have gone too far by trying to eliminate anything remotely Christian from this Holiday season.
agreed. theyve taken it a little too far lately. bet you wont hear any of them *****ing that they get christmas day off from work.
LuKahnLi 12-13-2005, 08:32 PM First let me preface this that I stole my tree from my neighbor's yard. The previous owners of that house operated a christmas tree farm, the new owners have other interests.
When I was making my way to my house I was stopped by a young man obviously of college age. I thought this was strange because this was the middle of the woods. He asked me what the tree was for, I said "It is a christmas tree for my house." His eyes suddenly filled with hate and he pulled a revolver out of the man purse that these liberals wear nowadays. "Wrong answer." He said, and motioned for me to get on my knees. I made as if to comply but instead swung my axe up and knocked the gun out of his hand.
I couldn't let him regain his composure so I next buried it in his head. I heard someone shout in anger and turned in time to see another college girl wearing a tie dye sweatshirt and dread locks drawing back a bow and arrow. I was able to use the tree as a shield for the first arrow and scrambled for the gun from her deceased partner. Before she could loose another, she was pushing up petooli smelling daisies.
The snowmobile that attacked me next had to be dealt with by jamming my axe blade in its treads.
It was a very close call.....But I see it as just doing my part. Until the war ends. Until we can celebrate Christmas in peace. I will never stop fighting.

there isn't anything remotely Xtian about christmas, it's about buying as much **** as u can. Jesus wasn't even born on dec.25 anyway, and he wouldn't ****ing shop at Wal mart
LuKahnLi 12-13-2005, 08:38 PM But seriously.
If you look back the previous few years. 4 or 5 people on the planet complain about Christmas and church and state blah blah and every year, we just ignore them and go about our merry ways.
The only thing different about this year is Fox News (meaning Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity) has seen fit to declare that those same 4 or 5 people that complain every year are on one side of a "War" on Christmas.
LuKahnLi 12-13-2005, 08:39 PM Christmas is really about getting really drunk in front of your family.
BLOODSHED 12-13-2005, 08:39 PM Yeah O'Reilly though generally is a rebel without a cause... but on this I agree.

I wouldn't go that far.
Grimgash 12-13-2005, 08:48 PM The war on Christmas ha. Although I'm no longer a man of faith, I still call the damn thing what it is, Christmas. Who cares what a bunch of pansies with picket signs outside wal-mart think? My name it self means "Christian like or realating to **** it it means something" does that mean I'm not allowed to speak it aloud? (note the two words sound same spelled different...thought was interesting) Anyhow maybe the next time I see the picket sign people, I'm going to goto Wal-Mart in a White Robe, a fake beard, and a crown of thorns. Walk up to the door, turn and say " GUESS WHAT MOTHER****ERS?? I DO SHOP HERE!! " and the proceed to walk inside like nothing happened.

Make sure you have somebody running a camera when you do that.....it would be the most widely viewed video on the net.
Also make sure you wear some running shoes.

You're thinking of Easter.
You want to where a nappy, and be carried in there by a teenage virgin and a few sheep.
Oh and the donkey .
And mabye a few wise men.

dude, your name is cool...does it mean what i think it does?
I have been watching O'reilly open just about all of his shows with this War recently and I have started to wonder...
Not about the war but the war!
If you watch the O'Reilly Factor you get Tookie, the war on christmas, some child abductions, a few ****head judges who ;let rapists out early, Howard Stern... but nothing on the war in Iraq and nothing on the President/administration, nothing on the CIA leak investigation (or at least nothing IN-DEPTH).
Flip over to Chris Mathews and they are playing Hardball like always, I think the top dogs at Fox have put the cobash on the nop spin zone for a while or at least until the administration starts to turn things around.
Bill has been a quiet little soldier as of late, why? I hope he likes his new Montel Williams style format?

Good point. Suddenly the War In Iraq isn't newsworthy enough for Fox.....at least not NEARLY as news worthy as.....HOWARD STERN. Or the WAR ON CHRISTMAS!

Wal-Mart is an evil company that deserves to be boycotted, but ****, this would be the funniest gag ever.
Bombardier 12-14-2005, 08:40 AM As for the "War on Christmas", people who parrot that rhetoric are pretty sad imo. Because basically all they're saying is that the most important thing about Christmas to them is the signs they hang up in the stores. I mean, if you're with friends and family celebrating Christmas or Ramadan or whatever the hell it is you celebrate, who the **** cares what cashiers are saying at The Gap? It's just angry loner types who watch the news and get all worked up about it that care about **** like this.
As for the religious aspect of Christmas, I'm not religious, really, but there's no denying that Christmas is a religious holiday. I think it's taken on a wider appeal, though, so people shouldn't get too worked up about the commercial side. I mean, Christmas is about spoiling your loved ones, isn't it? I mean, as long as you don't let your kids run amok all year I don't see a problem with loading them up with presents once a year (or twice, if you include their birthdays).
Having said that I see no reason to bury the religious side of Christmas. Not only is it important to a lot of people, but the best traditions about Christmas are religious-related. Nativity scenes in front of churches that are well done can be pretty cool, and the best Christmas carols are Jesus-related: Silent Night and O Holy Night being my two favourites. And I try to catch some the Christmas mass at the Vatican every year. Something about big crowds that I find interesting.
2nd II none 12-14-2005, 09:56 AM Anyone hear about the school kids from back east that rewrote silent night with absolutely no mentioning of jesus? Big stink about that on the radio the other day.

I really think it's only certain small special interest groups that are causing so much trouble. Unfortunately they're the people that make a big deal about everything and don't shut up until we fall in line. You know, they want the "disabled" to be called the "differently abled" and that sort of bull****. Mostly it's obnoxious special interest groups and a certain breed of ingorant socialist-types.
Big business plays a role in this as well, btw. To big corporations the best path is almost always the safest path, so Wal-mart and other stores aren't going to risk offending anyone. That's what I find funny when O'Reilly and his ilk complain about this, because it's their big business pals that are among the main perpetrators.

Super_Lightweight 12-14-2005, 12:15 PM Yeah, haha. But I'm glad people aren't bending over and takin it in the ass from fringe groups like the ACLU. People should be able to say Merry Christmas at work and put up nativity scenes if they wish. There obviously is a war on Christmas, fought in courts, but fortunately that war is being lost by this fringe group.
Super_Lightweight 12-14-2005, 12:17 PM 4 or 5 people
Wrong. It's more than that. But, not that it matters. They won't get anywhere. There have been suits filed across the country as being reported in papers across the country, like the Globe and St. Pete Times, etc.
Super_Lightweight 12-14-2005, 12:20 PM Although I do think it may be going a bit overboard at times (the reaction to liberal assault on Christmas themes) it serves a purpose.
FYI: The war in Iraq is on as much as ever. Chris Matthews can talk about what he likes, it's his show. Doesn't mean Bill or any1 else has to talk about it as much.

You could probably google the St Pete ones. I read it in the FSU library cuz we have papers from all over Florida and some international papers.
I agree there's a war on Christmas, but it is a poorly waged one and cannot win. In that sense I do agree that the reaction to it is a bit overboard, bit I'm glad people are saying something about this uncool behavior of taking Christ out of Christmas. It's not ok to me to sue a school or threaten to sue them if they don't take a nativity scene down, especially when said school has kwanzaa and hanukkah displays as well.

Yeah, I hear you. I get mad in general with the perception that anything non-Western is automatically superior to something that is Western. You know, when people quote The Art of War but don't know a damn thing about the great European war writers like Clausewitz. You could lump the War on Christmas thing in with that. I agree that the West has done a lot of terrible things but has also been responsible for much of what we value in society as well.
Seriously, though, I'd be willing to bet that if you polled regular people from the left you wouldn't find too many that were offended by anything Christmas-related. I guess I can't say for sure, but that's my gut feeling.
Super_Lightweight 12-14-2005, 01:01 PM Yeah, it's only the extremists...obviously, when they sue one religion over the others.
Speaking of war, did you ever read "All Quiet on the Western Front"? That's a decent book.

No, I have it but have yet to read it. For a class I'm taking right now I have to read "Storm of Steel" by Ernst Junger, which covers similar ground (though I believe that it is non-fiction). Maybe I'll read "All Quiet..." as well once I'm done that cause I really want to get to it soon.

There are too many damn communist pricks in this country who want all of our gun rights, religious rights, and individual righhts replaced with complete government control.
