It`s a pretty sad state of affairs up here for heavyweights. Kirk Johnson would still have to be the best, But even at the age of 33 I think he`s done, as far as beign an upper echelon heavyweight. The Canadian Champ L`Hereux is a fat Piece of **** who probably isn`t top 100 in the world. We have some good fighters in lower weight classes like Syd Vanderpool, Jean Pascal, Eric Lucas and Otis Grant, but the heavyweights just plain suck.

Agreed, L'Hereux is a damn joke. It's embarassing to see him out there in the ring and I hope he never travels out of the country.

Vanderpool retired after his last loss, btw. Pascal still has a lot of learning to do and he has to cool it with the ego until he really has the talent to back it up. Tons of potential with him, though. I like Alcine, as well, even though he has more trouble with some opponents than he should. And let's not forget Bute, though technically he's still Romanian and not Canadian.

Both Lenox and Berbick held dual citizenship. Both born in Jamaican and then emigrating to Canada. Both are remembered unfotunately for mentioning their Jamaican heritage first, despite enjoying advantages they never would have if they had remained in Jamaica. Lewis did it at the Olympic games, immediately after winning Gold, Berbick did it after winning his first heavy belt.

I could be a legendary Canadian heavyweight...

If I could somehow gain 33 lbs.

....The only Canadian heavyweight that really comes to mind for me is John Candy. He was "the greatest".

Lennox Lewis was actually born in London England and learned how to fight in his amateur days in Toronto at Atlas Boxing Club (which is still around today). His cousin Richard was a great fighter as well and would have fought for Canada in the Olympics only we boycotted that year. Richard is actually one of the best boxing trainers I've ever seen and still does personal training part-time (Richard by the way is Scotian and definitely no Heavyweight) And one Heavyweight not mentioned here I believe should be is Eggy Marcus who won a medal at the Olympics for Canada and aside from his loss to Razor had a pretty good career himself. Current Canadian Cruiserweight Champ (and Eggy Marcus' cousin) Troy Ross in my opinion would beat any Heavyweight in Canada but why bother. L'Hereux is a fat bum, and did any see the fight with Binkowski, (what an ugly fight that was, and for the Canadian Title????). There are a few amateur prospects that Troy and Eggy are training that look promising but currently we have no one.

As Bombardier mentioned, Syd is retired, I was trying to convince him to make a comeback less than a month ago at a tribute event for Vince Bagnato and Syd is definitely staying out of the ring for the time being. As is his brother and one of the most decorated Canadian fighters ever Fitzroy Vanderpool. Fitzy is training a young fighter named Mike "Prime Time" Post, and Canadian fight fans keep your eyes open for this kid. He has dropped a tonne of weight and throws absolute bombs (especially to the body). I take nothin away from Pascal, Lucas, Grant, Alcine, Bute or Dale Brown as those Quebec boys really know how to fight, but lets not forget about Troy Ross or Steve Molitor. And Kingsley Ikeke did just fight for the IBF Middleweight Crown. As well for women, Lisa BAD NEWS Brown aside from her recent setback was absolutely cleaning up World Titles. Truth is however in the Heavyweight division unles Eggy Marcus makes his comeback maybe we can convince Chuvalo to fight L'Hereux for the Canadian Heavyweight crown (I spoke with him at the same tribute event and he honestly looks like he'd whoop L'Hereux even now.

L'Heureux is P4P best Canadian out there.

Not only did he make a stunning comeback TKO win against the legendary Adenilson Rodrigues after being narrowly defeated by future world champion Steve Pannell, but he also has the best set of titties in the country.

Thanks for the info, I'll look out for those names you mentioned.

Syd had a great career and should be proud. Wish him a happy retirement for me :) .
